I don't think anyone was as stoked as I was when news broke that New Jersey MC Serius Jones signed on the dotted line to join the Disturbing Tha Peace squad. But my excitement was short lived because after sticking around only a few months suddenly Serius was nowhere to be found. I tried to poke around in hopes of obtaining a little information on his sudden departure, but the DTP squad is always SOHH damn tight lipped about their inner office business dealings [as SOHH they should be]. Check out who got the exclusive scoop and what Serius had to say below:
It seems that Streetcred.com found the reclusive rapper and got an exclusive interview. Check it out below.
Serius Jones on Disturbin' Tha Peace:
"...it really wasn't the right place as far as me being affiliated with that label. They had a lot going on prior to me coming to that label and a lot of acts. It puts a strain on you as an individual artist when you got a big buzz popping yourself and now you comin' under an umbrella and the umbrella is slow to put out 13 acts. I had to look for a better situation in my career instead of lingering around while somebody else is moving..."
Serius Jones on working with Ludacris:
"Luda was always cool when I dealt with him. We was chillin, I was in his house recording, making classic records. It was always a good relationship that we had, but I'm not into it to be friends. I'm into it to progress and get to the next level...it's the business of selling music. Not the business of "happy to be around other superstars." [More Of The Interview Here]
Now y'all know I fux with DTP hard, but Serius did make a good point about them having SOHH many acts up under the umbrella. Back then I remember they had Small World, Steph Jones, Shareefa, Playaz Circle, Bobby Valentino, Willy Northpole, Chingy and some others that I can't recall. DTP definitely had a lot going on. But it looks like they got the memo that they needed to downsize because they've most certainly trimmed the fat...well almost.
There is one aforementioned artist who unfortunately just isn't selling units and who I don't think will ever sell records again. But whatever..that's on them if they want to keep him around.
At this point I just want Serius to drop a project at this point SOHH I can download my copy [illegally of course] and see if he can live up to the hype.
The Bad News:
The brainchild of Sherlita Patton and Tracey Valentine - P. Valentine will soon be closing ts doors on Edgewood Ave. After servicing the Atlanta market with their top tier designs and custom fashion selections they are returning back to the internet.
It's no secret that they and many other custom boutiques in the Atlanta area are struggling to survive this shaky ass economy. People just aren't buying $300.00 jeans anymore. And SOHH it is with great sadness to see them go.
The Good News:
Everything in the store is 85% off. I stopped through last week and copped a few high end pieces and spent a meager $40.00. Everything is marked down substantially. If I were you I would make it my business to get on over there before they officially close their doors.
Talk to y'all lata,

Serious will never EVER have an album come out. He is what we call "hot garbage". Classic example of a freestyler that was really not that good at anything except insults and threats.
says,..the sponsor who never heard serius jones material to comment. now, honestly take it from one of the realest. honestly, serius jones is one of the only emcees in the last little bit that i felt actually had the high quality rhymes to be featured on high gloss production and make some incredible music. i have his mixtapes, or better yet his album, which is what is it closer to than an actual mixtape. take it from me, someone should be tryin to sign serius jones as soon as possible.
he is a gem, in this toybin of phoney jewels.
art barr
In this economy people are saving. I used to buy $300 dollar jeans too! One day I will be shopping again:)
I've never heard of him so I can't speack on it...I mean...Why don't these rappers just start going indie instead of sitting around waiting for hand outs...They all big time drug dealers and hustlers right???They should have that type of papper...Yea right.......
