This past weekend T.I., Greg Street and the Grand Hustle's K.I.N.G. foundation transformed the popular 'hood' club, Crucial into 'Crucial Carnival'. All the kids in Bankhead were treated to free haircuts, book bags filled with school supplies, all the food and snow cones they could devour and of course some quality time with the popular rapper. You already know I was in the building. Check out some pictures and video I scored below.

As a new school year approaches and with the economy being the way that it seems that T.I. is all but too familiar with struggles of his community and wasted no time to step up and help out.  But the event wasn't just about showing up to get free sh*t because T.I. made it a point to address all the hopeful faces in the crowd to inspire and uplift.  Check out what he had to say.

Yeap, they even had free haircuts.

If she's the future then sign me up and take me with you, babe!

I'm not really into kids, but the glimmer of hope in their eyes had a brutha a lil misty in my right eye.

T.I. is an undeniable force in his community, in his music and hell some would even argue the courtroom. SOHH to witness first hand the impact he has on his community forces to me acknowledge that maybe he really is the King of Atlanta – or at least Bankhead. Unlike you, Carlos!

While some people choose to waste their time trying to build up their music career by arguing silly notions like logistics and geography it's nice to know that the real hip-hop community activist can step up to the plate and take care of business.

Shout out to HK for the personal invite.

Talk to y'all lata,

That's cool as hell.more rappers need 2 do shit like this...how come i dont ever hear about NY rappers doin shit like this4 the kids?

Why do we give these rappers so much shine for doing sht that ordinary people do all the time?

Do you know how many 9-to-5 people working at nonprofits do this same "back to school" thing every year? in every city?

then a negro with $10 Million in the back does it and we are supposed to be impressed?

Stuff that Millionaires can do to Impress Me
1. Give away 20 checks for $30,000 each this year for high school grads.
2. Promise 50 seniors that you will pay their way through undergrad and graduate school if they maintain a 3.5 or better.
3. Buy a closed down housing project and have a developer build mixed-income housing on the site.
4. Find 20 dope fiends and pay for long-term rehap, job training and temporary housing. Commit a minimum of one year of financial support to each person.

I guess if you're in the entertainment industry you don't realize that Rick Ross and T.I. don't have to pay for any of this stuff. Its all donated from nonprofits and businesses. Thats right. Rick and T.I. show up and federal and state grants issued to nonprofits foot the bills. Those backpacks, those school supplies, all come from grant money or corporate sponsors. The barbers and stylists donate their time. T.I. doesn't pay them! They send out an all-call.

And guess what? Not only is going on everywhere, but you don't have to send your kids to a fucking nightclub to participate.

If your child is need of school supplies, contact you local mayor's office or council person. They will give you a list of nonprofits in your area that provide such services. (If you are Atlanta or Miami they can tell the name of the exact nonprofits that paid and hosted the events for T.I. and Rick Ross Charities.)

Damn homie sound like you're pissed off because you didn't get mentioned....regardless good to see something positive....

? Why would I be mentioned? I don't live in Atlanta. My point is this:

Most celebrity community events are paid for, facilitated and conceived by local nonprofits. Celebrities just past through and shake hands and leave. They rarely contribute anything financially to these events.

Besides the fact they almost never contribute as much as they could. School supplies, Christmas dinners and winter coats are what YOU and I are supposed to give away at a charity event. This is commensurate with our income levels. Millionaires are supposed to be doing something entirely different.

Think about it. Your favorite rapper, could pick any neighborhood in the world and completely re-do, transform it, and still be rich. New schools, new retail space, new public works, new housing, new roads.

For example, $10-20 million Nelly could have made just as much money revitalizing the Pruitt Igoe, Blumeyer or old Laclede Town, as he did buying a sports team. AND he would have provided homes and a new community for 100s of people. Snoop is starting football leagues (which to his credit he actually pays for with his own money) but couldn't he do something more substantive, like take directly out of juvenile custody and pay for two years of community college?

We can't celebrate mediocre philanthropy. These guys are spending WAY more on strippers and casino trips than they are on their own neighborhoods that they shout out on records. Don't even get me started on the athletes and their charities. I would make some of you lose faith in your favorite runningbacks and quarterbacks if I told you what I knew about them "giving back".

Yeah you right.....they should do what the Government should be doing......How much have our Government spent on the War In Iraq....Now that's ballin....
