Killer Mike's new album Pledge Allegiance To The Grind II hit stores last week, but why didn't anyone buy it?
When I got the soundscan numbers emailed to me yesterday I was truly appalled that all you SOHH called fans didn't show up at record stores to cop Killer's new CD. His new album entered the charts at a disappointing No. 178 at a mere 4,000 units sold. In my opinion this is a travesty!
With all the hip-hop fans that flock to this city with every passing day to see this man's album get overlooked the way that it did is crazy to me. Atlanta has millions of hip-hop fans SOHH why didn't you all show up to support Mr. Killer? Where did the disconnect happen?
I'm just rambling at this point, but I have to look at all you "hip-hop" fans sideways who are always bitching about how there's no good music out there. But when people put out good music it often times falls on deaf ears. I mean hell y'all went out to support Shawty 'damn' Lo. I mean no disrespect to Carlos, but I'm completely baffled by all of this.
But While I'm Mulling Over How Whack The Hip-Hop Community Is....

Come out and party with a purpose. The good people over at Uptown has gotten with a local Walmart to give 3,000 back packs and need folks to come and donate school items for the kids.
You will get in free before 11 and reduced admission with a donation. I know its tough times for all of us, but we got to help the kids, while getting our party on in the process.
Talk to y'all lata,

GYANT.....I agree with you 100%..I can't see how in the hell people supported wack as "Shawty Hoe" over Killer Mike. Carlos is dumb as hell, and Mike is "Oh so smart"...This just goes to show what today's consumer is interested in.
Gas is too high i ain't bought a cd in a year not even lil wayne's i can't even pay my rent or eat i'm gettin evicted and my lights or out, i had to sell my bed for a ham sandwich damn!
I'm pissed off about it myself....I'm hear in Montgomery Alabama...supporting the grind, and the niggas of ATL didn't even bother....yesterday I went and Copped my 3rd I Pledge Alligance to the Grind 1 and Nas.....Hip-Hop is dead and Hip-Pop is alive and well.....Get Off your Asses people....less than $20 ain't gonna make or break you, if so kill yo self cause you wasting space....Go Get That I Pledge Alligance to the Grind II........
I found part 1 at Best Buy and when part 2 came out Best Buy didn't have it but I did get it from FYE....
definitely a travesty. without calling the names of some of the current wack azz rappers people tend to support WHO DON'T SAY SHIT TO REPRESENT THE STATE OF THE PEOPLE, it saddens me to see this type of feedback fro a brotha who has put his career on the line to SAY SOMETHING. all these ni99az runnin around talkin foolishly about what they'll do to each other and then bow down to the very same oppressors they claim to hate on record...
Killa Mike is speaking out against the injustices that are affecting our communities the most: police brutalitly, corrupt politicians, and unfair justice system, etc. What do we do to show our respect? we don't buy his album. Meanwhile rappers who just show up in the recording booth and spit a bunch of shit that makes absolutely no sense at all get the praises for being the poster child for hip-hop. excuse me, but i thought this music was created to be a voice for the voiceless. and in this day and time, our voices need to be heard!
i wish we stop buying into our own self destruction an support real people who fight and put their lives on the line to PROPERLY AND INTELLIGENTLY REPRESENT US....
Round of applause for MR.SOUL:216..and to djgetbuck...Sound like you need a job homie.
The bottom line is...if you don't make hit records yo shit aint gone sell. And sometimes even when you do make hit records yo shit stil don't sell. The whole industry is so confusing now I don't understand it.These dudes need to just get a regular job yo.
I agree w/ you Gyant. However, I did not pick the album up myself. His first album was off the hook..he just didnt have a media presence that much to create a buzz. To sell records these days its not just the music but people have to have an interest in an artist as a person as well. I'll probably pick it up eventually. I'll pick it up soon probably. I get tired of the wackness the radio plays. You have to remember though that they are BIG TIME artist with majors backing them..and their albums are coming soon...TIP, Jeezy, ect..HELL I DONT KNOW...lol Sometimes the majors do help.
