Jermaine Dupri Kicks Off Third Annual So So Def Weekend @ Body Tap With 50K Strip Off! Plus, Monica Celebrates New Reality Show @ Luckies!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Jermaine

The unofficial party Mayor of Atlanta, Jermaine Dupri, is gearing up for his third annual SoSo Def weekend extravaganza and with the Atlanta nightlife dying a slow death if you're trying to get your party on this weekend you better get it together and come out to all the events. JD and friends kicked sh*t off at Body Tap last night with the $50,000 strip off. While strip clubs have never been my thing, lucky for all of us photographer Freddyo got some great shots from the evening. Check them out below.

Wow_501

Nelly, Jermaine and Rocko were thick as thieves last night. I wonder if  Nelly had to wear an arm band like Roc did?

Wow_461

Are we still it making rain the club? I guess there are somethings I will never understand.

Wow_482

Notice all the one dollar bills. Please don't believe the hype people. But cotdamn whose ass is that in the background.  I've always been an ass man!

Wow_437

Nelly is looking high as hell in this picture. I'm not even going to front everytime I see this nucca he makes me want to go to the gym. I'm trying to get big like him, for real! I think is probably the first time I've ever seen him with his shirt on.

This is just a small sample of whats in store this weekend. Jermaine and his team always make sure to own the party scene in this town and this weekend will be no exception. From the celebrity bowling tournament [which I will be apart of] to the white party going down at the Wooddruf Art Center Saturday night. Atlanta is going to be OFF THE CHAIN!! And I will be in the mix like everybody else.

For a complete listing of all the events going down please visit the official SoSo Def weekend website [here]

Shoutout out to one of the hardest working photographers in Atlanta Freddyo for hooking me up with some hot shots.

And Speaking Of Hot Parties.....

Gyant

Shout out to Bun B. But Lets Move On To Another Pressing Issue.....

I was really on the fence about writing a blog about personal situations. Ever since my unfortunate incident with you know who I've really made a valiant effort to ensure that everything I do on the internet is about work [yes, this crazy entertainment business is a job contrary to popular belief] from my perspective. But after standing back for a moment and observing various situations between beefing rappers and various blog beefs I can't help but wonder to myself "what the hell is matter with us as a people?"

It's no secret that blogging has forever changed the way everyone gets their information. This relatively new industry is dominating and undermining the entertainment business. Magazines are on a constant decline, television ratings are in the toilet but the internet is thriving…everyone is online. And to that end, with every passing day, tens of thousands of brand new blogs are popping up all wanting a piece of the action. And in that lies a very big problem.

Contrary to popular belief I am an equal opportunity blog writer. Everyday like a bad drug habit I wake up at the crack of dawn to check out Perezhilton.com, nahright.com, writersblockmedia.net, sandrarose.com, necolebitchie.com, worldstarhiphop.com, thelifefiles.com, theybf.com, claycane.net, loldarian.com, whatsthetea.com, mahagonygirl.com, illseed.com, hiphossip.com - the list goes go on and on.

One of the reasons why I am SOHH great at my job is because I have over 50 blog urls that I memorize and I support fellow bloggers with trackbacks, shoutouts and overall blog love. I've been in the blog game since its inception almost 5 years ago. However, with SOHH many new blogs popping up every day the level of respect is becoming more and more diminished. Hip-Hop blogging is slowly turning into an industry of greedy individuals who are blurring the lines of immorality and common human decency for a few moments of recognition and money [though it's really not that much unless you're pulling in a serious readership] rather than for the art and the love of it.  Funny enough certain bloggers make outlandish remarks and comments about other bloggers that they would never have the balls to say in person.

Since when have we begun to reward cowards? Everyone wants their point of view to be heard, which is an understandable notion, but why are bloggers focusing their point of views on each other?

Fundamentally black people are always SOHH busy attacking each other that the end result is always disastrous. Look at hip-hop for example; back when hip-hop was introduced to the world it was about telling a story of struggle and pain. It was about rhyming about a girl you wanted to kick it with, or apparel you rocked – or would one day rock. But as it grew and the more people started to get in the game, the respect for hip-hop instantly started to weaken.

A genre that was created to uplift and speak to a lot of people quickly turned into the seedy, backstabbing and grimy industry we all look at today. And what's been the end result? Hip-Hop is dying a slow death.

As a blogger, who's been here virtually since the beginning, I don't want that happening to us. All this blog beefin', throwing jabs back and fourth over the internet at each other has got to stop. You don't see Perez Hilton attacking Just Jared do you? You don't see Trent from Pinkisthenewblog.com going at Dlisted. SOHH why are we black bloggers the only ones going at each other recklessly, and might I add unnecessarily?

Blog charts on who's beating who with arguable numbers. Placing personal blogger information on your site, etc. These actions don't bode well for us as an industry people.

If you're a blogger who is serious about your business and is looking to leave your day job [yes, most of you, hell if 99.9 of bloggers do it as a hobby – as in you don't make much money] then its time for us ALL to band together and seriously create an industry TOGETHER!

I'm sure this blog will fall on deaf ears. It's just sad that as a people we can never seem to get anywhere because we just can't unite…..on any front!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Jeezy_album

It looks like Young Jeezy has had some set backs with his new album The Recession because I just got word that there's been a pushback. It seems that all The Jeezy fans are going to have to wait a couple more weeks for his new album. But that might be considered by some to be a blessing in disguise because I was also told that the Atlanta star is hitting the road to push the new project. Check out the details as well as he and Jay-z's collaboration up on the "Put On" remix below.

The new album's first single, "Put On," currently sits at No. 7 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally. "The Recession" is the follow-up to 2006's "The Inspiration," which has sold 1.2 million copies to-date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Jeezy's new album is now due to hit stores September 2nd

Here are Young Jeezy's tour dates:

Aug. 10: Houston (Arena Theatre)
Aug. 12: Dallas (House of Blues)
Aug. 13: New Orleans (House of Blues)
Aug. 15: Detroit (Plan)

Personally if I have to choose between hearing Kanye or Jay-Z...I'm team Kanye all the way. Why didnt they keep Kanye on it as well? That would've made it dope. Just when I was starting to fux with Kanye on the track the go and take him off..SMH!

Poppin' or Floppin' Video Of The Week "Marco Polo" Plus, For Those Who Need A Moment of Inspiration I Got You!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Bowwowflashinmoney

While hip-hop continues to seep deeper and deeper into obscurity artists are trying out every gimmick they have to remain relevant - case in point Bow Wow and Soulja Boy. Their new song "Marco Polo" is out, but I really can't say that it's doing particularly well. However they've shot a video for it which you can check out below. Is it poppin' or floppin'?

I think I'm just too damn old! What do y'all think?

But Let's Move On....

There I was chillin' in front of the TV watching some videos when one of the most inspiring commercials I think I have ever seen came on.

If you're feeling down about life, feel like giving up or hell just need to be inspired then watch the video.

Princess And Diamond Go At It @ Soulja Boy's Party Last Night[Video]

Written By SOHH Gyant

Diamondprinces

What happens when the hip-hop community stops being polite and start getting real? They battle it out lyrically. Check out what happened when former BFF's and members of Crimemob Diamond & Princess collided last night at at Soulja Boy's party.

Last night Soulja Boy threw a blow out bash for some MTV show that's airing soon. I was halfway invited to go. I say halfway because though the publicist claimed she added SOHH.com  to the guest list she failed to send me over the specifics [what, when, where] and with gas prices being the way that they are, I opted to stay at home and let the blognistas do the work for me. And it looks like they came through because check this video out of Princess challenging Diamond to a lyrical battle.

Princess and Diamond of Crime Mob Confrontation

I love it when Diamond said "let's do it on Pay Per View". Like anybody would pay money to see some whack sh*t like that.  For me personally I am and forever will be team Princess. V shows me nothing but luv when I see her. And she carries her name "Miss Thick Chick" very well.

The video wasn't all that particularly interesting and I heard the same could be said for the event as well.

Atlanta can be SOHH lame sometimes. Or maybe I'm just getting too damn old for the dumbsh*t. Shoutout to Beyonce of Hot 107.9 for capturing that video.

Ludacris Makes History, Gets Inducted Into Georgia's Music Hall Of Fame!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Ludacrisglassesdreds

It looks like Ludacris is doing it big this year. After being snubbed by MTV's bullsh*t ass list on who's the top MC in the game right now. The current King over at Def Jam is pushing forward with new movies, a brand new album and now an induction into Georgia's Music Hall Of Fame.

You know at first when I saw everyone getting their respective first listens to cuts from his new album I was pissed, but hell I guess I have to respect the fact that Ludacris, along with other top tier stars like Beyonce, Jay-Z and possibly Mariah Carey are immune to the blogesphere. Putting it plainly Luda don't need to reach out to anybody outside of the traditional publicity train because his talent speaks volumes.  And I've accepted that fact.

Chris "Ludacris" Bridges is the first rapper to be inducted into the hall of fame. I mean Jermaine did get it, but I look at JD as more of a producer than a rapper.

But to celebrate Ludacris' achievements I thought it would be fun to look back on some of his greatest hits to date. Let's look back for a moment shall we.

Ludacris - Area Codes

Ludacris - Move Bitch

Ludacris - What's Your Fantasy

Ludacris Shake Your Money Maker

Ludacris - Blueberry Yum Yum

Congratulations to you Luda! Oh and don't forget that his mixtape that was just released [Download It Here]

Asher Roth Shuts Down The Drunken Unicorn, Plus, Jermaine Dupri And His New TAG Team Party It Up At Geisha House!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Asherorthbw

It seems that Asher Roth is making history with each passing day. The prolific [yea, I said it] stopped by the Drunken Unicorn Friday night to do his first performance ever in front of a crowd of industry heads, hardcore hip-hop fans and of course the haterz and not only did Asher nail his performance...I got some video of him by way of Atlantaurbanmix.com proving that this kat is not to be disregarded. Check it out below.

While I couldn't make the performance, Atlantaurbanmix.com was in the building and they got all Asher's skits on their site. I kid you not when I tell you that the little ass venue was packed to capacity. Everyone showed up to see just what this white boy was going to do.

Well watch above to see what he did! Asher is a beast! Point blank, period!!

But Moving Right Along...

Jermaine Dupri personally invited me to come out and celebrate his new venture with TAG Records at Geisha House in Atlantic Station Friday night. Here's some pictures I scored from the event. I don't know why I thought that since Proctor&Gamble is behind TAG Records that there were going to be girls hanging from the ceilings an open bar and food.

Sadly it was just another Atlanta party.

Written By SOHH Gyant

When I heard Princess had hopped on the "A Milli" beat my first thought was "oh God not another one", however after hearing "Miss Thick Chick's" version I got to admit: it's most certainly worth listening to. But is she going at Scrappy on the beat? Have a listen and you decide.

EXCLUSIVE - Jermaine Dupri Chat's It Up With Gyant About His New Artist Dondria Nicole [Video]!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Jdjd

This past weekend I ran a post on Jermaine Dupri's new artist Dondria Nicole AKA Phatfffat. I questioned whether or not he had somebody worth listening to or just another nameless singer who was going to fall by the wasteside. Well almost instantly after that post went up I was contacted by the music mogul himself requesting for me to come to his private studio so that he could set me straight on who this Dondria chick really is. Check out JD and my sit down after the jump.

While I am still not 100% sold on Dondria Nicole I will admit that after hearing 5 cuts from her album I really liked and could fux with three of them. Her lead single "Can't Stop" [which you can get off iTunes] is a certified hit. But that's all JD, SOHH how could it not be? Nobody will/can deny that Jermaine knows how to create Pop/R&B music. I mean that's what he does.

However, after sitting down with Jermaine and listening to some of the cuts from "Dondria Vs. Phatfffat", and also interviewing Dondria herself I walked away from the situation having a completely different attitude about her music. I think he may actually have something here y'all.

Tomorrow SOHH Soulful will have my sit down with Dondria. SOHH be on the look out for that.

As always I got to show blog luv to the the music mogul for always granting lil ole Gyant access to his bigger than life world to get the story. Sidebar, no sign of Janet Jackson y'all [but believe you me I was looking].

Asher Breaks Bread With Ludacris[Video] Plus, Luda Drops "Put On Remix" [Audio]!!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Asherorthbw

Asher Roth continues to get the whole industry's attention. Three months ago alot of people didn't know who this kat was. But, fast forward to today and now he's breaking bread with the likes of Ludacris and Chaka Zulu. Whether you think Asher can rap or not, at this point is irrelevant, because the young MC is generating all kind of buzz and he hasn't even dropped his first album.

Check out the video below of Ludacris and Asher Rother discussing business over dinner.

Asher is doing the damn thing. And if any of you can't give the man his props then you're the epitome of what a "hater" really is.

And Since We're Talking About Ludacris.....

Redludaft72

Two days after Young Jeezy's "Put On" video finally dropped Luda has put out a song from the new Gangsta Grillz Mixtape "The Preview". The song is titled "Put On The Remix". Have a listen below.

[LISTEN TO "PUT ON THE REMIX" HERE]

Gorilla Zoe Teams Up With Lil' Wayne And Just Get's "Lost"!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Block Entertainment's Gorilla Zoe is gearing up for that sophomore effort. His new album "Don't Feed the Animals" is coming out soon and you know the good people over at Block ENT just had to hook us all up with a lil exclusive taste.  Check out a hot cut from the album with Zoe and Weezy F. Baby.

The song is called "Lost" and its a nice departure from what we're hearing now a days. It actually sounds refreshing because Zoe is stretching a little bit as an artist. Let me find out these rappers are trying to be singers on the low.

[LISTEN TO DONT FEED THE ANIMALS HERE]

I got to even give Drumma Boy his props as well. I like the mellow beat below.

I don't know why, but after listening to this track I'm compelled to get my "herbal" on and just chill for the rest of the day.

SOHH Gyant Randomness: Rick Ross Gets Caught But I Can't Help But Wonder "What's The Big Deal?"

Written By SOHH Gyant

Rickrossfingeru

I've been paying close attention to this Ricky Ross debacle. And since the "The Boss of Miami" frequents Atlanta often y'all just know that I've got to add my two cents.

So as you all know by now Miami rapper Ricky Ross past has come back to sucker punch him right in the middle of his big ole belly. Reports started to leak last week that Ricky may not be as hood as he claimed to be. Rumors of him working as a correctional officer started to spiral out of control and it's clear that without thinking about what he was doing Ricky came out swinging by denying all allegations of his steady past. The man even went as far as to create a youtube video. Which you can watch below:

Since this video more pictures have surfaced showing an elated William Ross obtaining what looks like a certificate of acknowledgment while wearing a correctional officer's uniform. And if that wasn't ethering enough that damn thesmokinggun.com website went and obtained the man's check stubs proving that Ricky is just one big liar.

And while all of this has been mildly entertaining I can't help but ponder the magnitude of this situation. While I think that Ross should be held accountable for his actions of lying to try and protect his image, I feel that I am being forced to also hold us as a community accountable for making an individual feel that they have to hide or downplay their law abiding ways. And let's not get it twisted here it's not like the man worked as a correctional officer for 10 years or some sh*t. He did it for 18 months. And who said that he was ever a good, law abiding officer at that?

Why is it that in the hip-hop community, and in some instances even the black community, is it frowned upon to not be hood? In the early stages of rap the importance of coming from the streets and essentially sharing with the world the street's struggle was an important element to your success, however in today's hip-hop climate I believe that everyone realizes that most of the bruthas in the game come with some added inflation of their image or life story.

I personally was never a huge Ricky Ross fan. I can't think of one song the man's recorded other than the one with T-Pain that I've listened to. SOHH for me I just don't understand what the big deal is, exactly. Again, I understand the dishonesty element, but I can almost guarantee that if you would do a background check on 95% of today's rappers  you'd probably see that there is a whole lot of fakery going one *cough* Plies *cough*

I think Ricky Ross just needs to keep going forward in doing what he's doing and by next month people will move on to the next scandal. Let's hope the lesson everyone learns from this is just try to live your life authentically.

Floppin Or Poppin Video Of The Week - Young Jeezy's "Put On"[Video]!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Jeezy_album

After months of all the Young Jeezy fans inquiring about the video for "Put On" it's finally seeing the light of day. I believe I was the first, and probably the only blogger to express my displeasure for the track initially.

Now I fux with it, but I'm not sure if it's because I actually like it or if it's because I hear it played everywhere. Check it out below and tell me, is it poppin or floppin.

I think the video is hot. I think Young Jeezy was the first rapper to come out with an original conceptualized  video that looks expensive. Video's have gotten so lame over the years with record labels backing out on budgets and artists failure to deliver ideas and treatments of their own to the table. However, Young Jeezy pulled it together and is doing it even bigger by tying in struggles we are all feeling from this horrible economy.

My only real gripe was Mr. Kanye West. I mean let's be real for a minute. What was the point in him being in this video. It was just blah to me. It's like if he was in the video or not it really wouldn't have made an impact on the production one bit.

I know y'all are geeked [look at me gettin' all hood] up about Young Jeezy dropping that album. Hopefully I can get a listen to some of the tracks. Bibi...hit me up so we can do this!

Um...Why Didnt Y'all Come Out To Support Greg Streets "Takeover" Concert This Weekend? Plus, Is This JD/Greg Battle Still Going On?

Written By SOHH Gyant

Gssn

This past weekend I decided to truck it out to Gwinett County to check out the "Takeoever" concert that appeared to have a pretty strong lineup. However, it seems that I and about 85 other people were the only ones interested.

It seems that while I was going out to cover the "Takeover" hosted by Greg Street all the hip-hop fans were either checking out the new Batman movie or just didn't feel like spending the gas money to come out.

Plies, Rocko, Shawty Lo, Trey Songz, Lloyd, Killer Mike, One Chance and Gorilla Zoe apparently just didn't have enough star power to get the fans to pony up the cash for a big turn out. Hey, what are you going to do right? In looking back on the event I guess it really was basically a repeat of the V103 Car & Bike Show and HOT 107.9's Birthday Bash. Was there really a need for people to come out again with gas prices being as high as they are.

Luckily enough for the fans who decided to come out every artist still gave it their all despite the echoing venue. Y'all know I was running around trying to score pictures for all y'all. Check below to see what I got.

Dsc03021

Gorilla Zoe came out to do some press and show the fans that he's got nothing but love for y'all.

Dsc03023

Killer Mike and his crew. I forgot all their names, but Killer already knows that when they're ready to get pushed I'm going to have their backs.

Dsc03025

Usher's group One Chance rolled through. But let me tell you about these nuccas. The group member to the far right with the Mohawk is clearly the lush of the group. While performing one of their nameless songs this kat was so effed up on Patron that he passed out on the stage. His other group members had to literally drag him off the stage.

I feel confident in saying that Usher needs to just cuts these kats loose. They aint going NOWHERE!

Dsc03027

This is Killer MIke's and One Chances table of refreshments backstage.....

Dsc03026

And this is Trey Songz table of refreshments...whats the problem here??

Dsc03036

Rocko doing what Rocko does....

Dsc03028_2

One of my most favorite singers in the game. I almost cant even look Lloyd in the eye when I'm talking to homie. He's SOHH genuine and SOHH damn nice that I just have to look down when he speaks that way if he's ever caught up in a scandal I don't have to debate in my head on what I'm going to do with the information. But he is mad cool!!

Dsc03040

Rocko semi-posing for my camera. Is that Patron or just an empty bottle. You aint got to front homie! Just playin..

Dsc03041

Y'all already know that DJ Holiday be every damn where anyway.

Dsc03042

Monica and Trey Songz. Y'all know Monica is getting ready for that new album to drop right? She assured me thats its going to be a lot of ballads. I can't effin' wait!

Dsc03033

The newest bitch in town Necole Bitchie alongside Greg Street. Necole is most certainly doing her thing in the Atlanta. Y'all make sure y'all keep your eye on her.

I got to shoutout SOHH reader Shannon who recognized me as I tried my best to sneak into the stage area and sneak out. And of course I got to big up Greg Street for ALWAYS coming through for a brutha.

And Since We're Talking About Greg Street.... Check out Greg's challenge to Jermaine Dupri. Y'all remember the DJ battles back in the day? I think it could be kind of fly.

Can Ludacris Become "Mr. October"? Album Slated To Be Released Along With New Films! Plus, Check Out The Artwork For "The Preview'!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Ludahands

Ludacris's new album Theater Of The Mind is hitting stores this October, but I can't help but wonder why/how the hell EVERYONE is getting their first listens, but SOHH Gyant. What the f*ck is up with that?

When my homie over Rolling Stone magazine called me up and told me that Chaka Zulu stopped by their offices to play a few cuts from the album I wasn't trippin' because "hey" it's Rolling Stone. However, now I'm getting word that my homie Lowkey over at BET just got his listen and now I'm truly baffled.

I've been inquiring about this project since the beginning of the summer. I've spoken to Chaka Zulu personally about hearing some of the tracks. I was assured that it would happen, however now that EVERYONE seems to be hearing it but me [I'm sure I am being dramatic] it looks like I will just have to wait my turn like all the other consumers.

Perhaps I am overreacting, but I am STARVED for some quality hip-hop that I know Ludacris will deliver. While I wasn't the biggest fan of his last album. I am really, REALLY amp'd up about this one.

I know Ludacris and I haven't had the best relationship over the years, but I thought it was all luv, now.  I guess being a trash talker and a sh*t starter has its drawbacks, but oh well I am what I am. Maybe they have some strategic method for hitting BET and Rolling Stone first and plan on incorporating the blogs later.

Since I haven't had the pleasure of listening to any of the project first hand at least you all can check out what LowKey had to say about it:

Before the actual session began, Chaka took some time to explain the album set up, and the events surrounding the album. Since Luda has two movies (Rock N Rolla and Max Payne) hitting theaters the 17th of October, they're setting the album up to be released the following Tuesday, October 21st, in which they hope to achieve the top 2 movies in the country along with the top album in the country, hence the reason they're nicknaming Luda, Mr. October.

Though we were sworn to secrecy about album logistics, I can tell you (since this specific information is already out there) the track with The Game is insane (and already my favorite)! It was produced by Clinton Sparks (who would've thought) and features DTP artist, Willy Northpole. Chaka emphasized that on this particular LP, Luda is rhyming to prove why he's one of the most slept on in the industry. Sure, Luda is one of the most sought out artist in the game, but he's also left off a lot of lists conceived by the hip hop community, therefore, this album should and will solidify his slot on the next Top 10 list. [Source]

SOHH what do y'all think? Can Luda pull it off and become Mr. October??

Redludaft72

While we're all waiting for the album to drop I guess "The Preview" will have to suffice. Here's the mixtape album cover. Courtesy of AJ Dixon and DTP.

SOHH Gyant Randomness: Has Jermaine Dupri Struck Gold With Dondria Nicole??

Written By SOHH Gyant

Dondria

Jermaine Dupri has been gearing up for the release of his new youtube star Dondria Nicole aka Phatffat. But I cant help but wonder to myself if he's got a diamond in the rough or just a plain ole piece of coal.

For those of you who aren't aware of who Dondria is allow me to give you a recap. The story that I was told is that the Texas native started singing covers and posting them on her youtube channel. After developing a cult following and becoming a youtube celebrity JD caught wind of her, and not surprisingly, the music mogul signed her to his So So Def Label. I caught wind of Phatffat a few months back, but didn't really pay her too much attention. In looking back I realize that she's actually been around the "A" for at least a year. I've seen her at various events, but I didn't know who the hell she was.

However, now that "the machine" is starting up I'm paying a little bit more attention to her situation.

I was having a discussion with an industry friend recently and I was expressing my doubts about the internet star. While I have never met Dondria, [well there was that one time at Charles Mathis mansion party last week where I did see her, but I felt like it was JD's duty to introduce me, not me track her down to speak] I wouldn't be Gyant if I didn't express my concerns/opinions. Can this young girl sing – yes! Is she cute and marketable- yes! Do singing covers on a youtube channel equate a star….um not necessarily!

While the internet is a fantastic tool to capitalize on and create your own opportunities, there's still a level of execution on part of the artist that has to be performed. And while Dondria does bare a striking resemblance to Monica [at least to me she does], I can't help but think to myself that just because one can sit in front of a webcam and belt out cover songs it doesn't necessarily mean that they will be able to carry their own songs, and most importantly, their own performances in front of live audiences.

Putting it plainly I'm finding it hard to see that "star" quality that fans, present company included, are desperately searching for in Dondria.

From what I understand, the plan of attack with Dondria is to have her record all the songs that Mariah Carey and others passed on while recording their respective projects. That way there's virtually no overhead in trying to get writers, etc [that was the simple condensed version I'm sure it's more elaborate then that]. Will Dondria become the next big thing out of JD's camp proving to all the haterz that he's still "that nucca" when it comes to branding stars? Or will Dondria Nicole be nothing more then an overly hyped youtube chick with OK pipes and not really much else for people to talk about?

Check out Dondria killin Chrisette Michelle's "Love Is You" and you decide.

I'd really like your feedback on this one readers. C'mon tell me what you feel. Check homegirls [Myspace Page Here]

WTF, Who Knew T.I. Could Sing? Check Out This New Leak "Whatever You Like"[Audio] Plus, Chima In Buckhead Gets It Poppin'!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Tipap

OK, it's official..T.I. is not playing with the music for his upcoming CD. While surfing some of my favorite blogs I ran across this new song from the self-proclaimed 'King Of The South'. And guess who's trying his hand at singing on the beat. Check it out below.

Cliff is really starting to impress me with this project. Though I don't know why I am surprised. Don't we all work at our best during the most stressful moments of our lives?

But what do y'all think?

Chima

For those of you cultured individuals who are constantly on the hunt for quality venues to host your parties, grab a drink surrounded by nice atmosphere, or just want to get great food then you all seriously need to check out this spot.

Chima Brazillian Steakhouse in Buckhead is the spot you've got to check out. It's been the best kept secret somewhat, but after dining their yet again last night I just had to give it an honorable mention. What other place in the ATL can you come to get Brazilian cuisine, meats grilled to perfection, a killer atmosphere, that's always going to treat you like an honored guest, rather than a annoyance? What a lot of restaurant and venues lack  in this damn city is class. Well, that's not the case at Chima.

The Marketing Coordinator over there, Lachelle Morris, has made it her duty to make sure that we are all welcome at this establishment. And just how I can share with you all about how I won't ever be going to Slice Atlanta again, I can also provide you with alternatives to add to your night life agenda.

It should be noted that Chima is not for any dusty ass negro who wants to roll through. Timberland boots, baseball caps and white tees are more than likely frowned upon. While I was there I didn't see any of that foolishness SOHH don't play yourself if you trying to come out.

But if you're of the "grown and sexy" demographic then you definitely want to put this new hot spot on your "To Do List". Check out their website [here]

[Exclusive] Shawty Lo's Attacker Speaks..[Audio]!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Shawtylo

OK! So earlier this week I told you all about a rumored beat down that happened at Club Crucial. A reliable source hit me up and told me all about how Shawty Lo got his ass beat. I ran it as a rumor and kept it moving, however now I'm getting word that not only did it happened, but that the one who did it is talking. Have a listen below.

From what I could ascertain some cat named Meatball, who apparently has a shaky relationship with Shawty Lo, is the man who is taking ownership of whoopin' dat ass as well as snatching Carlos' chain.

Shawty Lo is denying such an incident occurred, and even reached out to that other hip-hop site to give his account on what happened.

The Bankhead celeb is sticking to his story that he was in no way involved in any scuffle at Crucial on Saturday. But check out what this kat Meatball is saying:

Now look, everybody already knows that I'm no hood type a dude and the end of the day I could really give two sh*ts about up and comers catching beat downs. However, I still can't deny you all the entertainment.

But isn't it quite the irony at how Shawty Lo spent SOHH much his time and energy on trying to air out T.I. and is now getting aired out his damn self. Some people should really learn to just leave well enough alone.

Let's not draw any guns over this fellas. B E Z.

ATL Disrespects Killer Mike, Plus, Uptown Wants You To Come Party With A Purpose!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Kmbars

Killer Mike's new album Pledge Allegiance To The Grind II hit stores last week, but why didn't anyone buy it?

When I got the soundscan numbers emailed to me yesterday I was truly appalled that all you SOHH called fans didn't show up at record stores to cop Killer's new CD. His new album entered the charts at a disappointing No. 178 at a mere 4,000 units sold. In my opinion this is a travesty!

With all the hip-hop fans that flock to this city with every passing day to see this man's album get overlooked the way that it did is crazy to me. Atlanta has millions of hip-hop fans SOHH why didn't you all show up to support Mr. Killer? Where did the disconnect happen?

I'm just rambling at this point, but I have to look at all you "hip-hop" fans sideways who are always bitching about how there's no good music out there. But when people put out good music it often times falls on deaf ears. I mean hell y'all went out to support Shawty 'damn' Lo. I mean no disrespect to Carlos, but I'm completely baffled by all of this.

But While I'm Mulling Over How Whack The Hip-Hop Community Is....

Simplicity

Come out and party with a purpose. The good people over at Uptown has gotten with a local Walmart to give 3,000 back packs and need folks to come and donate school items for the kids.

You will get in free before 11 and reduced admission with a donation. I know its tough times for all of us, but we got to help the kids, while getting our party on in the process.

[Exclusive] Bobby's Back!! Mr. Valentino Signs New Deal With EMI!!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Bobbyvred

When R&B crooner Bobby Valentino was surprisingly canned from DTP earlier this year I'm sure a lot of you thought that we wouldn't be hearing from the pint-sized [and, I say that with luv] vocalist ever again. Well, it seems you haterz would be wrong because homie is back and in full effect.

I know I haven't been the kindest to Mr. Valentino over the years with various blog entries I've done, but fortunately enough for me Bobby and his team understand what I do and truly have no hard feelings. Surprisingly, I just got a call from Bobby himself and he's got some great news…he's just signed a brand new contract.

That's right, the platinum star has just inked a deal with EMI and his own label Blue Kolla Entertainment. Every since Bobby got dropped from DTP/Def Jam I was the first one saying how he didn't even need to sweat it because he's already got a strong enough fan base to go at it alone. I mean hell that's how I've built my career in the game. I learned how to use the internet to work for me. And he can do the same thing with the music.

There's no word yet on the specifics of the deal, or when an album will hit iTunes [notice how I didn't say record stores let's keep this ish mad simple], but it's still good to see that you just can't keep a good brutha down.

Asher Roth Hops On The "A Milli" Beat..And For The First Time Somebody Truly Hit The Mark[Audio]!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Asherorthbw

Every since Bagladesh and Lil' Wayne joined forces on the "A Milli" beat I've been practically begging Asher Roth to hop on the track like everybody else. At first there was hesitation because it's been done SOHH many times.

However, last night I got the call that my wish had come true. Asher Roth has jumped on the beat…and he's killed it! Just listen to it before you prejudge.

Out of all the rappers in the game Asher's the first person to actually apply the fact that us regular folk ain't got no ‘milli' SOHH why rub that sh*t in our faces?

[Listen The Track Here]

What do y'all think? I will admit that it was kind of long, but still fly as hell! I'm glad he did it.

Did Shawty Lo Get Jumped At Club Crucial??

Written By SOHH Gyant

Shawtylo

I hate to be barer of some reckless ish, however the person who gave me this information is held in high regard SOHH I feel comfortable going with it. Did Shawty Lo catch a beat down over the weekend at Club Crucial? Find out more below.

According to my source Carlos "Shawty Lo" Walker was chillin' up in T.I.'s popular hood night club in Bankhead when someone came out the blue and came down on that ass. But to add insult to injury, not only did Shawty allegedly get his ass laid out he also got his chain snatched.

But wait; it gets worse. I also hear that there is a video surveillance tape that can verify this rumor. I'm gonna need the manager at Crucial to holla at me with that., PRONTO TINTO! Put it on youtube and let's see what this is all about.

This rumor is starting to become somewhat of a broken record because a couple of weeks ago I had heard that Shawty had caught a beat down in Bowen homes. However, nobody could verify it and after reaching out to Carlos' people I got a phone call from the Bankhead rapper himself denying any incident occurred.

Could this simply be a bunch of peeps playing games at Shawty Lo's expense, or has all that trash talking come back to bite homie in the ass.

Rock City 'Rocks' The Stage With "Wave" @ Opera, Plus, Rovella Williams Cordially Invites You All To Be A Part Of The Evolution!!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Rockcitysmall_2

Last week a video was posted about this hot Atlanta group, by way of the Virgin Islands, Rock City, who are getting a great buzz. They're songwriters who've penned hits for just about everybody on the Billboard charts today. But now they are slowly edging themselves to the stage to become the main attraction.

The video that was posted was probably overlooked just because of the way it was put up, but now that I'm behind the wheel of my own posts I wanted to make sure you all saw them shut the stage down at Opera...don't hate, just "Wave".

These kats are on fiyah! Don't hate on them one bit. Interscope and Konvict music are behind these katz. Let's hope they can somehow bring Gyant on board so we can really show the world what they got.

Did y'all know that these kats won the Almost Famous Showcase owned by Rovella Williams? True story! And since we're speaking of Rovella make sure you come out and support her event tonight at the The Mark tonight.

Ludcaris Teams Up With DJ Drama For "The Preview", Plus Shows Off New Eco-Friendly Vehicle!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Ludacrisglassesdreds

And the Ludacris publicity train has left the station. With a new album on the verge of being released the leader of DTP has linked up with the Apphilates main DJ [DJ Drama] to bring us all a preview of what's in store from the master of rap music with a "Gangsta Grillz" mixtape. Check it out below.

Here's what Drama and Luda told MTV News:

Ludacris still feels that he is still on top of his game lyrically:

"I feel there is no rap style I cannot do," ‘Cris said in Atlanta, standing next to DJ Drama during a round of pool. "Unlimited amounts of ways I can come on the microphone. I feel like I'm the best doing the damn thing.

Ludacris and Drama are putting the last touches on Luda's new mixtape, The Preview.

"Album number six is on the way. It's called Theater of the Mind," Luda said. "So with that said, we got the mixtape, The Preview — the preview to the damn movie. It's all about lyrical exercise. I been gone, opening up a restaurant [in Atlanta], doing a couple of movies here and there, just a little bit of everything. It's time to get back in the music game. It's been a long time, but we back on that ass.

"You gonna get a mixture of freestyles, new songs, snippets from Theater of the Mind, [past] songs where samples couldn't clear and make the album, but they still crazy-ass records. And me and Barack O'Drama talking a gang of sh–. It's as simple as that."

"The first-ever Luda/ DJ Drama Gangsta Grillz!" Dram jumped in. "This sh– is history. It's the preview, the coming attractions. Get your popcorn. This time, [the production of the tape] worked out through the conversation. Luda already had the concept of the tape, it being the preview … for the Theater of the Mind. When I heard [the word] ‘preview,' my mind started immediately racing of how we should put it together. I said, ‘Every beat, everything you get on has to be a movie.' On the microphone, he's already a monster, so it's kind of an easy thing. I like to give everything a beginning, middle and end. With a concept like The Preview, ['Cris] kinda made it too easy."

But don't think that just because Ludacris is raking in all that cash with the restaurants, the movies, and the music that he's still not into saving the planet. Check out his new sweet, and might I add eco-friendly, tricked out new SUV.

Ecodub

Ludacris is set to star in in the Planet Green reality show Battleground Earth, where he was challenged alongside other musicians to see who can reduce their carbon footprints most significantly.

Ecodub2

The rapper says, "I'm working on getting solar panels on my house in Georgia, and I just bought a Tahoe hybrid".The show is set to air on 3 August (08).

Ecodub3

I don't know about y'all, but I'm really excited to get some new fresh music from the likes of Luda, Jeezy and T.I.. This is going to be one interesting music battle.

Jeezy's New Album Cover Revealed + Talks W/ DJ Clue & Angie Martinez [video]!

Yung Joc In Court Today For Not Being Down With "Stereotypes"!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Yj

Yung Joc is in the news today, but for the first time in a minute its got nothing to do with his musical projects. However, it does involve music....or a matter of an alleged unpaid music service bill. Check out the lame lawsuit below.

According to WSBTV Yung Joc, real name Jasiel A. Robinson, will be making a court appearance today over the matter of an unpaid bill. From what I understand the case involves fraud and contract disputes between Joc and a company called "Stereotypes."

The allegations are that the Block Entertainment star received close to 25k in services and failed to pay his bill. The court case is set to take place right here in Fulton County SOHH I'm going to need all my groupies to fan out and get me a picture or some video of Jasiel entering or leaving the courtroom. LOL.

On another note: I know that I haven't had the kindest things to say about Joc in the past, but after meeting him and chopping it up the brutha seems like a genuinely nice and smart guy. Though his last album may have not have performed as expected and his touring has slowed down immensely over the months its evident that homie's got money.

SOHH the fact that he's still going through with the court case and isn't just settling out of court must mean that he truly believes that there is some sort of mess going on with the stereo company.

Remember, Forbes Magazine ranked him as one of the top grossing rappers of 2007. I'm just sayin....

[Joc, I tried to email you this AM to get ya account of this ish, but it came back to me 'undeliverable'. Reach out so we can get your side, homie.]

T.I. Calls Out Shawty Lo, "What Up" [New Music]

Written by SOHH Gyant

Ti20080320300x300

The anticipation is clearly building up over T.I.'s newest project, Paper Trail. Another track has been released from the self-proclaimed King of the South. And surprise, surprise he's going at Shawty Lo hard. I don't have to tell you how corny I find this whole "beef". This is like Ludacris battling with Bow Wow [it's no competition]. But I know beef is what gets you all hyped. So take a listen to the track below.

[Listen Here]

What are we thinking about this track? I'll be glad when I can get a chance to listen to the whole project.

But While You're All Mulling That One Over…..

I know I'm a little late with this, but I've just been mad busy. Megan Chapman and Rufin Tshinanga of Axxes Agency invited me out to come and cover LA Reid's Hitco Music Publishings one year Anniversary at Club Opera [relax, LA wasn't there].

However, Rock City bum rushed the stage and TOOK it over. And you already know I got some video and pictures below for you.

What do y'all think about Rock City? I'm telling you these kats are on to something really great.

Charles Mathis & Deon Grant Host 'Fantasy Island' Mansion Party, BET's Frankie & Neffie Attend!

Written By SOHH Gyant

Frankie

[Even With The Chicken Head Weave Frankie Is Still Fabulous]

Last night I checked out yet another mansion party hosted by Charles Mathis and Deon Grant. The lavish event was thrown at Mr. Mathis' Marietta estate. The theme was Fantasy Island, as guests were treated to an endless buffet, an open bar and performances by Sean Paul, Fantasia and others.

Gyantandnicole

[Yes, I Sweating Like A Whore In Church On Easter Sunday. Damn The Atlanta Humidity.]

I received a personal invitation from Music Business Politics and one of Atlanta's hottest promoters - Botchey, CEO of Certified Crunkness, Botchey & Zae Entertainment, to come and be a part the exclusive affair. And of course the one time I decide to leave my camera at home is the one time I wish I hadn't. Luckily enough for all us Vennet from Geniushatescompany.com had my photographic back.

First off lets be honest, a lot of parties in Atlanta are like trips to Disney World; once you go you never really have a need to go again.

While the party was filled with lot of Atlanta movers and shakers like Jermaine Dupri, Botchey of Botchey Ent, Bow Wow, Hannah King, Yung Joc, endless sports figures, tons of publicists, industry insiders and of course a throng of groupies looking to poke holes in condoms SOHH that they can be set for life, I couldn't help but get the sense that Atlanta has gotten WAY too small.

However, the affair was executed with the perfect amount of class and elegance that refrains me from hatin' one bit.

Bow Wow and I chopped it for two seconds as he and Jermaine were making their exit, [I wonder why Jermaine never really speaks more then two words to me in public? C'mon man I'm tying to build up that relationship, sir], and like many of you he inquired as to when SOHH.com is going to be back up and running at full capacity.

But for me the highlight of the evening was when Frankie and Neffie from the hit BET reality show Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is crashed the party. I'm not even going to lie I had a complete groupie moment when I yelled out loud "I Love You Frankie".

I'm sorry, but that splaboo ghetto mess [and I say that with luv] is just too real to NOT love! And it seems that I am not alone because from the moment they arrived they became the life of the party scoring throngs of photo ops.

For more great picture from this event check out Vennet's website [Here]

Shoutout to Nicole of The Garner Circle for executing a flawless affair.

Gyant Randomness - Fat Boyz Of America Take On McDonalds

Written by SOHH Gyant

Mcdonalds20080711300x300

Randy Roper [AKA Exclusive], in my opinion, has one of the most entertaining sites online. While I keep a bunch of sites logged under my bookmarks tab there are few that I commit to memory and Randy's offbeat writersblockmedia.net is one of them. Check out this crazy ass video he found from blogging homie Dallas Penn. McDonald's better hurry up and get it together before the Fat Boyz of America turn on them.

This video is funny on SOHH many levels. Firstly, it's because they have a point. While I do not eat at McDonald's [mainly because I work from home and you'd be surprised at how much fast food you don't intake when it's removed from your routine] I remember when I did I used break all kind of moving violations in my car to get there before they changed over there breakfast menu.

Secondly, this video is hilarious because these fat boyz really just want their damn food. SOHH much SOHH that they went and created, edited and produced a video about how mad Mickey-Dee's has made them.

And lastly, how they've hatched out a ‘how to guide' on how you as the consumer can master the art of getting your greasy grub before the fast food giant changes its menus.

Hey, what can I say it's a slow day…bite me! LOL.

Big Boi Teams Up W/ Mary J. Blige "Something's Gotta Give," Slice Atlanta Doesn't Care About Black People

Written by SOHH Gyant

Bigboi20080411300x300

Although Big Boi's first single "Royal Flush" got a lot of great buzz it seems that the ball was dropped at getting a video out. However, it seems that one half of hip-hop's most popular – and might I add best selling— duo isn't missing a beat as he's dropped a new single featuring Mary J. Blige titled "Something's Gotta Give". Check it out below.

Bigboidxb

[Listen Here]

This new track seems to be a departure from Antwan's signature sound. I've gotten SOHH used to his high energy beats that this one caught me off guard. Call me crazy, but I feel a throwback to the 90's on this song.

I'm really amp'd up to get a chance to listen to this project! Big Boi told me personally that he was going to let me get an exclusive listen. I followed up on that promise earlier this week and his publicist informed me that the minute it's complete we going to make it happen.

As of right now I really don't have an opinion on this track. Mainly because I hate it when DJ's add all the distracting drops over the beat. I got to hear a clean untouched version before I can render an opinion. But I do know that we will definitely see a video from this song. I've been told by great authority that MJB and Mr. Patton are shooting a video in Los Angeles.

What do y'all think about the song? Is it what you've been waiting for?

Express yaself. That's what this blog is all about.

You know I never thought I would say it, but I miss Matt Herbz!

But Moving Right Along…..

Sliceimage

Was anyone aware that the upscale and trendy Slice Atlanta on Peter Street was racist? Like you I was shocked. However, last night, out of all the establishments in Atlanta I could have patronized, Necole Bitchie [Necolebitchie.com] and I chose Slice because of their excellent atmosphere. But, it seems that certain members of management at the popular eatery have absolutely no regard for the African-American dollar although most of their customers are of the African-American persuasion.

Tasha the nightly manager verbally assaulted and accosted me over a credit card processing glitch with their computers. After dining on pizza and drinks the bill was presented and my credit card was taken for payment. To my surprise the waitress came back and told me that my card was declined. Alarmed, because "I Get Money" I went to their customer-offered computer to check my account and to my surprise it shows the credit card transaction as going through and the funds withheld.

For those of you who frequent this establishment you should know that sometimes they will decline your credit card even though all charges were indeed processed.

When this matter was brought to Tasha, a petite yet highly aggressive white female, with stars on each shoulder her attitude was completely nonchalant and down right accusatory. When I showed her the computer screen displaying the transaction as being processed she told me that I would have to come back in the morning to speak with the owner of the company, but that I still had to pay the bill [again].

Since when has paying for services twice ever been acceptable? When I expressed to her that I wasn't doing such a thing that's when she went into a cursing tirade. She told me that she "doesn't have to put up with this sh*t", she accused me of pulling this "trick" on her and her company three times prior and she also demanded I pay the bill or the police would be called. White people I feel completely comfortable in speaking for the entire black race, especially the hip-hop community, when I say that not everything we challenge is a shake-down, nor do we all look alike. With the rising statistics of unfair treatment given by officers of the law to threaten a black man, and an honest one at that, with police force only heightens the situation.

However, the cops were indeed called and without embarrassing she or the company I walked away not having to pay a dime.

But the thing that struck me the most is how easily non black people can quickly escalate a problem with attitude, preconceived notions and blatant racism. Racism is not always what you say out loud, but how you interact with people who are outside of your own race.

I've been living in Atlanta for three years. I've given countless interviews, been to events, and spent loads of money on drinks and food in an establishment I thought embraced the hip-hop community. However, after my experience last night I will neither purchase nor patron Slice Atlanta ever again. Goodbye Shawty, Shawty

Killer Mike Wants It Understood…He Does It For His Hood!!

Written by SOHH Gyant

Killermike120080709300x300

One of my favorite rappers in the game, partly because he's really a genuinely nice guy, Killer Mike's got a new album out titled I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind II.

Killergyant

SOHH Atlanta was one of the first media sources to give you all a preview of some of the tracks a few months ago, but it looks like the finished product is finally in stores.

Last week I was invited to come out and cover Mr. Render handing out free ice cream to his community along with a tour of where it is he comes from. Unfortunately I was not able to make it, but thankfully the good people over at UNN & Rap Hustlin DVD got us all covered. Check out the picture below.

You got to love the way Killer doesn't make a move without brining his community along for the ride.

Make sure you go out and support Mr. Bang, Bang, Bang. Again, his album is in stores NOW!

Written by SOHH Gyant

Yungjoc20080709300x300

The good people over at Block Entertainment have been laying pretty low lately. But please believe that the southern rap label that brought us Yung Joc, Gorillz Zoe, Jody Breeze and others is coming with that fire in the third and fourth quarter.

Bunbblock

Check out some news I got on Gorilla Zoe. Homie is getting slimmed up and is about to drop that sophomore album. Check out all the details below.

Block Entertainment/Bad Boy South/Atlantic Recording artist, Gorilla Zoe, gears up for the release of his sophomore album, Don't Feed Da Animals (September 23rd release), with the single "On the Corner" featuring Sean Kingston.

Gorilla Zoe's debut Welcome to the Zoo, which peaked at No. 3 on Billboard's Top Rap Albums Chart, launched Gorilla Zoe's unique raspy vocals with the hard-hitting street anthem "Hood Nigga." Block Entertainment CEO Russell "Block" Spencer expects Don't Feed Da Animals to exceed expectations set by the success of Welcome to the Zoo.

Gorilla Zoe builds anticipation for the forthcoming Don't Feed Da Animals with buzz-worthy records, like "Waddle" featuring Gucci Mane and "Dope Boy." Production from the industry's newest heavyweights, Justice League-"Pussy Talk" and "Neighborhood,"  Don Vito-"Dope Boy," and Luney Tunez N Yo Area-"Waddle" to name a few are rounded out with seasoned producers, Jazze Pha "Locked Up or Dead," and J.R. Rotem "On the Corner."

According to Gorilla Zoe, Don't Feed Da Animals is collectively "a huge album, filled with life experiences, thoughts and feelings-real and uncut."

J Carter Apologizes For Luckie Lounge Fiasco

Written By SOHH Gyant

Sohhlogo20080708300x300

Yesterday I ran a post telling you all about the nonsense that happened at Luckie Food Lounge. Well it seems that my post did not fall on deaf ears because I received a letter from promoter J Cater himself expressing his deepest apologies for everyone's mistreatment last Thursday.

On behalf of the R&B Live family and Sol Fusion, we would like the apologize for any and all confusion that transpired Thursday July 3rd at Luckie Food Lounge. During the event we were unaware of some of the problems happening at the front door. Prior to the event on July 3, 2008, we allowed Luckie Food Lounge to control the door and unfortunately, it appears as if this was the root of the problem. Anyone that has patronized R&B Live or any Sol Fusion event within the last 10 years knows that we never have issues at the door, nor do we attempt to gouge our patrons with inexplicable door fees.

R&B Live is a monthly event geared towards the music industry audience and the guest list for this event is typically 5 pages long. None of these guests pay admission because R&B Live has never been "about the money." Generally, the cost of admission at the door is to help off-set the costs of the production. In the past, the average cost has not exceeded $20 per person. Many Sol Fusion events and other productions I may host range from $10 to $30 general admission. In saying that, we apologize for the exorbitant door fee proposed to some of the patrons that were not on the list or opted to attend the event at a later hour. We addressed the admission cost prior to the event but unfortunately, our concerns did not play a factor.

In the future, we will be sure that the "control" of the door is not-negotiable as this is the only way we can insure your experience is of the quality expected at all R&B Live and Sol Fusion Events from start to finish.

As for any security issues, unreasonable force by any security guard will not be tolerated…. EVER. In reflecting back on the prior events, we have never had an issue where a patron was asked to leave, nonetheless been removed. We heard that something occurred with Security and we will find out what happened and address it.

Rest assured that this is not a finger-pointing letter as we are willing to accept responsibility for not insisting on "control" of the door and any issues that came as a result. We are most apologetic that some individuals were unable to enjoy the production. For this, we are going to plan a special event that we hope you attend Our apologies are countless and we hope in addressing this matter, you see that it IS important to us. Being an individual who in the past 10 year has taken pride in delivering nonstop live music events, hot non-traditional & unpretentious events, opening a club that caters to the progressive music scene (Sugarhill) and giving Atlanta's nightlife a new dimension…. Sometimes situations like this are necessary to remind you that some people just don't "get it."

Any concerns with this event may be addressed to R&B Live and Sol Fusion. Any issues with Luckie Food Lounge may be directed to info@luckiefoodlounge.com.

My Best,

J Carter & The R&B Live Atlanta Family

This letter should show all you promoters in the game to get your sh*t together. If you're not properly prepared to throw an event… then DON'T!

Usher Runs Back To Mommy? Gyant Parties W/ Charles Mathis

Written By SOHH Gyant

Usher20080708300x300

Is it possible that Atlanta's number one celebrity target, Usher, paid attention to my commentary on his rampant problems with his current CD? That's what it looks like. I'm hearing that the musical homie tucked his tail between his legs and is going on home to mama.

Here's what the NY Daily News is saying:

The singer is said to be quietly talking with mom Jonetta Patton about becoming his manager again.

Last year, just days before Mother's Day, Usher stunned friends by telling the woman who turned him into an R&B superstar that her services were no longer needed. Shortly afterward, we revealed that he was replacing her with Benny Medina, the man who has steered the careers of Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez, among others.

But now that Usher's new album has been slow off the mark, he's blaming Medina, say sources. True, the CD, "Here I Stand," debuted at number one. But Usher is said to have been disappointed that it sold 433,000 in its first week, compared with his last CD, 2004's "Confessions," which had sales of 1.1 million in its first seven days.

Medina, who's an expert at holding artists' hands, reassured Usher that his latest sales were nothing to be ashamed of, considering the current climate of the record business. But then, three weeks later, Lil Wayne's album, "Tha Carter III," sold more than one million copies its first week out.

"Usher was livid!," claims an insider. "He threatened to fire everyone." Also troubling were the ratings for the BET Awards. While the show pulled 6.3 million viewers when Beyonce opened it last year, the Usher-headlined show drew only 5.8 million. [SOURCE]

I couldn't be happier if this information is in fact true. Nobody can deny that Jonetta knows this business, and more importantly her son. I think Mrs. Patton could definitely get him back on top.

Let's just hope that Tameka will fall back and just be the supportive wife. I'm just sayin….

Gyantmathis

On the Fourth of July holiday I got an invitation to attend celebrity attorney Charles Mathis mansion party out at Lake Lanier. The Sprawling estate sits right on the edge of the huge lake.

De'Vyne Stevens, Joe Gutta, Battery 5, Director Gabriel Hart, Ramona Debreaux, Ovie Mughelli and others all came out to get their party on.

All I got to say is thank God for Patron! Check out the pictures.

Special thanks to Rovella Williams for the invite.

Honorable Mention - Young Dro Performs For The Gays With Fantasia By His Side [Video]!

Youngdro2008070702300x300

Written By: SOHH Gyant

I'm sure it's no mystery that Fantasia loves the gays, and they love her ass right back, however who knew that Grand Hustle rapper Young Dro had SOHH much luv for them as well.

Youngdro

While trolling my endless source of blogs I came across this video of Fanny's new boo shoulder leanin' it for the gays at Atlanta-area gay club called "Traxx".

Hey! I've got no problem with hip-hop finally realizing there is an entire demographic out there with a vast amount of disposable income to be capitalized on. And, if you pay close attention to the video the audience knew all the lyrics to his songs. I don't know why that shocked me. I guess I'm still small minded in thinking that all kidz do is bounce to Beyonce.

Will Young Dro's act of bravery send a message to others in the rap game to start booking shows for the butt pirates of the world? Was that insensitive?

Either way I think Young Dro deserves an honorable mention for seizing the moment and showing the gays/fans some luv.

J.Carter & Crew F*ck Up R&B Live W/ Danity Kane!! Bangladesh, and Others Get Disrespected By Security!!

Danitykane20080319300x300

Written By SOHH Gyant

This past Thursday I received a personal invitation from D.Woods of Danity Kane to attend her celebrity Birthday Party/R&B Live Showcase @ Luckie Food Lounge.

Danitygyant

The event was put together by J. Carter while publicity was handled by Nicole Garner of the Garner Circle. Don Cannon, Rock City, Danity Kane, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Mychael Knight, BET's Dorion, Bangladesh, Gorilla Zoe, Rico Brooks and others all came out to support.

Gyantdanity

Now y'all already know me SOHH anyone who went to this event already knows what it is was. Why promoters insist on treating Luckies like it's in the same caliber as Club Opium, or hell even Velvet Room is beyond me. Throughout the evening there were countless security issues. Hit making producer Bangladesh and his girl were man-handled by security [while his smash single "A Milli" was playing in the background, I might add] all because they didn't have the appropriately colored wrist bands.

A well respected publicist was even escorted out of the venue [and I'm being nice when I say "escorted"] for trying to ensure that all their clients were taken care of.

The R&B Live showcase was supposedly thrown by "powerhouses in the music industry - Mute Media (J. Carter, Mark Issa), Compound Entertainment (Ne-Yo's Entertainment Company), and the J Erving Group." However, I have to seriously question everyone's credentials for the way we were all treated on July 3rd, 2008. Some people are SOHH consumed with trying to get their picture taken and appearing on a red carpet when they should be ensuring that all invited guests are properly credentialed and taken care of.

Call me crazy but when I see artists like Bangladesh being outright DISRESPECTED by security, and don't even get me started on how they were trying to come at me, I know it's time to exit and never look back. SOHHfar I have been to three previous events all overseen by J.Carter and his crew, and three consecutive times they've all been nothing but bullsh*t.

At this point if I keep going back then whatever I get, I deserve. I think it is safe to say that my days of covering events at Luckie's is coming to an end. Although I still have to check out Botchey and Hannah King's event on Wednesday's because I heard they are a step above the rest.

Who knows maybe J.Carter and friends should stop by Wednesday night take a pen and pad and study how a real party is thrown, because they clearly do not have a clue! I'm SOHH sick of these repressed former high school nerds that try to make up for how lame they were in their adolescence by trying to throw "industry" parties so that they can generate some buzz for a day. Could their attempts at being seen on respective blogs and in print publications be their attempt at over compensating for other shortcomings?

It should be noted that neither Luckie Lounge, nor Nicole Garner are to blame for my, or anyone else's negative experience. They are essentially only echoing the rules of the promoter and its security.

And just so you everyone is clear. I attempted to get an explanation when I ran into Mark Issa and J.Erving [don't quote me on the latter] at Charles Mathis mansion party on the 4th and they both attempted to play dumb like they had no idea what was going on. And even in my drunken stupor I could still smell that bullsh*!

Now that was my take on the evening. If you want the positive then that's where my girl Necole Bitchie comes in [Check Out Her Account Here]

Club promoters need not get it twisted; it is a privilege to have media come out to your event[s]. We don't need you – you need us. And it's time that y'all get with the program!

SOHH Gyant Randomness: Top 5 Reasons Why G-Unit's T.O.S. Is Going To Flop!

Gunittos

By SOHH Gyant

Here are 5 reasons why I [Gyant] think that G-Unit's recording career is pretty much over.

This feature is staring to become a weekly thing. Here we have yet another hip-hop album that I'm afraid is going to be a commercial disappointment in the eyes of the music industry. Curtis Jackson, a.k.a 50 Cent and them other boyz have dropped their new album T.O.S. Terminate On Sight. But there is just one thing missing [and no it's not Young Buck] interest!

1. OVER SATURATION: I know that I don't have to tell you that 50 Cent is EVERYWHERE! Albums, Vitamin Water commercials, movies and everything else puts the bad boy of hip-hop in a very vulnerable position. I mean let's be real; this is basically another 50 Cent album with features. Nobody is interested in the old man and the rumored former gay porn star. And, with Curtis resulting to his usual high-octane – lets bully around another rapper – antics people have grown tired of the marketing scheme[s]

2. YOUNG BUCK: While nobody can deny that Fiddy isn't the leader of G-Unit crew Young Buck brought a lot of fans in his own right, to the previous projects. The South has a lot of love for Buck and now that he is gone from the group subsequently are some of the fans. Lloyd and Tony don't have a strong enough fan base[s] to generate enough interest.

3. LIL' WAYNE: Call me crazy, but I really didn't see a point in anyone in hip-hop releasing an album after the news hit about Lil Wayne's CD sales. The New Orleans representative made history with his highly anticipated album, so you just knew that the buzz as going to certify that his album would dominate the charts for at least two to three weeks after its original release date. G-Unit should've just sucked up their pride and pushed the album back two more weeks to let people absorb and them move on from Shawn Carter.

4. THE TAPING OF THE YOUNG BUCK CONVERSATION: The way Fiddy released that tape of Young Buck crying over the phone, in my opinion, was one of the most disloyal and presumably messiest things you could do to a person. It isn't the nature of their conversation that was particularly interesting to me. It was the sneaky back handed way Curtis went about doing it.  While nobody can argue that 50 Cent isn't an entertaining dude to record your boyz conversation with a "just in case" mindset shows your disloyal and not to be trusted. And isn't hip-hop all about the stories of the streets? SOHH if that's the case aren't loyalty and trust valued over most other things?  I am in no way saying that Young Buck wasn't at fault because he was. But anyone who records conversations as an insurance policy needs to own up to the fact that they are messy and aren't to be trusted. If anyone in 50's camp would talk to him on the phone regarding a private matter is crazy and deserves whatever they get. He's shown that he is not to be trusted.

5. Do I really need to add a 5th reason?

Either way it's not looking too good. The SOHH News department is already reporting that Wayne is set to be number one again.

T.I. Flips On A Fan, Usher, Nelly, Polow Da Don Party It Up [No Gyant Allowed]

Ti20080703300x300

By SOHH Gyant

I don't know why y'all insist on trying to provoke the self-proclaimed "King Of The South".

In a recent interview on 98.3 The Beat in Columbus, GA a fan got stupid and probed into Cliff's criminal that's when the sh*t got all too real.

First off let me say that I am a body language-nista. Some of my best interviewing moments have been because of my ability to watch the body react. SOHH in this video clip I can look at the precise moment that the alter-ego Tip entered the room [SOHH to speak]. I can't say that I blame him though. I think we all forget to a certain extent that though it's somewhat entertaining to poke fun at celebrities and their public problems it's really no laughing matter. OK fine sometimes it is… Shoutout to Lil Duval!

Sidebar, Am I the only one who is scared of Alfamega? I mean don't it just look like the nucca who would bash you over the head with a 40oz just for looking at him sideways? That dude got a real evil look about him which makes me keep my distance.

Usually when I see people out and about I always introduce myself [What Boo! I saw you at Publix yesterday getting your grub on homie] but that nucca I avoid like the plague. He may be a nice guy, but my instinct says to stay away.

But anyway I don't think we'll be calling the caller a fan anymore.

But Moving Right Along...

Ushernellyppolw

It looks like the posts I did on the "Top Reasons Why Usher/Nelly Are Going To Flop" has come back to bite me in the ass. Tuesday night Usher and Nelly along with Polow Da Don and Keri Hilson threw a lil shindig at Ten Pins in Atlantic Station and apparently somebody forgot [or maybe not] to invite lil ole Gyant.

I kept getting text messages all night from people asking me where I was and why I didn't come out, however I decided long ago that if I don't get an email asking me to come participate then there's probably a reason why. I hear it was quite the evening. But I figured since we see Usher and them out everywhere anyway that it wasn't a big loss.

I'll take not being invited out to everything from time to time if it means I can call celebs out on their sh*t. And I've said it once and I will say it again. Polow is looking pudgy as hell ain't he. Somebody is eating REALLY, REALLY, well!!

Asher Roth "Roth Boyz" Video ROCKS! I Told U SOHH!

Asherroth20080703300x300

By SOHH Gyant

For the loyal readers of SOHH Atlanta you already know I put y'all onto this hip-hop miracle almost two and half months ago. And now he's slowly becoming that dude to watch in the game.

I was trying to wait until we got the site running fully functional before I spoke about the Asher Roth video "Roth Boyz", but after logging almost three-hundred thousand hits on worldstarhiphop.com I figured I could make an exception.

If you haven't had a chance to check this ish out by all means click play.

This video shows why I instantly had a lot of luv for Asher. He and his ‘Roth Boyz' is what being young and having fun is all about. He doesn't take himself too seriously; he'll make any situation hilarious as hell. Plus, he and his team are all extremely talented.

And this just has to be said; Asher is showing hip-hop that you can make good music and good videos and not have to shell out tons of cash. I have it on good authority that this video cost a meager $1500. That's it! Kats who are trying to get into the game and even old heads who've gotten lazy should see what he's doing and realize that this is not a black or white thing. This is a talent thing!

Shout out to Scooter Bruan, Asher Roth, Kenny Hamilton and Steve Rifkind for choosing SOHH Atlanta to be the FIRST site to break Asher to the world.

Oh, and to all you industry kats who are whispering "Who the hell is Gyant to be talking about the business? What does a blogger know?? Well clearly I know a little summin summin SOHH bite me!

Ludacris Reacts To MTV's "Hottest MC In The Game" List, And It Ain't Pretty [Video]

When MTV dropped their annual Hottest MC's In The Game list I did notice that one name was missing. However, since I always tend to pump my fists for DTP I decided to just fall back from pointing it out. But luckily for me and the other Ludacris fans of the world Luda is sticking up for himself. MTV caught up with the southern rap star and he made it extremely clear that he's one of the best in the game....PERIOD! Check it out below:
Ludcaris does have a point. No disrespect to Cliff, but when he was locked up and dealing with his drama Ludacris was keeping his nose clean, and was being featured on several tracks. Talk to y'all lata.
