Poppin Or Floppin Video Of The Week Double Header: Shawty Lo Vs Nelly! Plus, The Evolution Is Going Down At The Mark!

Today I'm posting two videos for SOHH Atlanta's weekly poppin' or floppin'. In one corner we have Shawty Lo feat DJ Khaled, Jimmy Jones, Ricky Ross and Birdman. And in the other we've got JD, Nelly and Ciara. Who's poppin' and who's floppin'?
No disrespect, but Shawty Lo looks SOHH corny. I thought a rappers job was to sell a fantasy. Does anyone believe Shawty? Plus, I'm SOHH over the same damn Miami video. Every video that's being shot down in Miami is starting to look the same. It's like everybody uses the same strip.
And now onto Nelly, JD, CiCi.
You know I was working on post titled "Top 10 Reason's Why Nelly Is Going To Flop", but I haven't decided if I'm going to post it or not.
It's clear that the Midwest rap movement is over[let me clarify for the sensitive - I meant the St Louis rap movement [i.e. Midwest - geesh], but Nelly refuses to fall back quietly. He's still trying to make that comeback with his new album titled 'Brass Knuckles'. But what do you all think of the new video? Is he coming of as innovative or corny? Stepped On My J's, WTF?
Ciara is looking good as hell, but eye candy isn't enough is it?
Speak ya mind on the videos. Is Gyant a hater, or do these people need to go back to the drawing board?

Where do I begin? Shawty Lo’s video…2 THUMBS DOWN! I like Shawty Lo but the concept for this video is so played out and will somebody please tell DJ Khaled to STFU!!! Im so tired of this dude and the damn nonsense that he yells. I wish he would go play in traffic…Thanks. Moving on to Nelly…Mr. Derrty Ent. Nelly’s looks so damn good in this video it doesn’t make any sense. Even though the song wasn’t all that great the video was much more creative than the first video. The skit with the white dude was hilarious and I like how they recreated the Jordan/Spike Lee commercial. Ms.Ciara looks beautiful as always…get it CC

Im starting to grow a custom to Shawty Lo i think im gonna go buy his CD. I believe him. I never believed T.I. one bit but this guy i do cuz everything hes told us has been correct. Hes backed up everything with videos or pictures and peoples words and came with facts. Im not saying hes a great rapper but hes good to listen too. They Know, They Know remix, Im da Man, Im da Man remix, Dunn Dunn It All, Foolish Remix. It seems like everyone else agrees since he has them all in the videos. It was actually a lil diff for me than those regular Miami DJ Khaled videos.

First off KStyles the skit in Nelly's video is from the movie Do The Right Thing. Secondly both videos floppin. Nelly might be fine but he fell off point blank. Shawty Lo need to sit his ass down with dat bull. And Gyant is right eye candy can only do so much. For Nelly quit while you are ahead because you on wack now. Nobody wants to hear steppin in my j'z.

I actually like that new Nelly song...It's a hell of a lot better than that wack ass song he put out (Wadsyaname or somethin) Hopefully that single wont make the album and this single can build some buzz for his new album
i'm not a big fan of lo, i mean, the way he sings sounds like a moaning man which is pretty annoying. and birdman using that auto-tone didn't work out for me so that's a negative on lo's video. moving on to nelly, it's a nelly song for you so if you have been a fan of his stuff then i think you'll like this one. it's not bad and damn...ciara...looking good like always. anyway, nelly will probably bring some heat back from his newest cd, but hopefully its more country grammish than suit. either way, ill probably pick up his cd.

...and...NELLY....I've been talking to a lot of cats lately and the truth of the matter is...HE IS SO DOPE..but it's like HE DOESN'T WANT TO DELVE DEEPER....look at Ludacris's LAST LP....and how much more HIS SOUND MATURED. Nelly's audience has grown up (as someone above said)....and I think NELLY IS SO DOPE he doesn't have to make a typical single anymore.....it's time to reach the next level for NELLY. So unfortunately...I cannot co-sign any of these singles he's been working on (Party People, or this...although...Wadsyaname was kinda hot)...

the midwest movement has reached a pinnacle. nelly is still worth 60 million and for those from chicago talking that bump j and kanye all that other stuff please believe none of them live in chicago and the other rapper is a nobody who was on atlantic but got dropped. face facts and quit naming dudes have not done shit. kanye gets props and so does lupe but thats about it.

The Evolution of the Rap Artist...Being a rapper is one thing but being an artist is a different dynamic. Rappers make great records but Rap Artists create brands and make great albums and they also know how to reinvent themselves and grow with their audience. Of course it's better to start young and grow up with the music. Jay did it, TI's done it, Luda's done it...on the other hand Nelly hasn't quite pulled it off with this one. Shawty Lo is rapping for Bankhead and I don't think he gives a damn what you all have to say. Creating an existence after D4L's Laffy Taffy is all he needs to get by.
