Earlier this week I met up with Blood Raw at Slice in Castleberry to talk about his new album that's in stores now. The CTE signee chopped it up about the streets of Panama City, his time spent in the slammer, and why his new album is the sh*t. Check it out below.
Not to disrespect the hip-hop community, but it was good to speak with someone who actually had more to say than the same ole street talk bullsh*t. While I am still having a hard time mentally digesting the name, Blood Raw isn't your everyday rapper.
Make sure to check back next week to get Blood Raw's "Hip-Hop's Guide To Surviving The Economy". He said some good sh*t that I wanna share with you all [but that's next week].
And don't forget that his new album "My Life: The True Testimony" is in stores now.
Track Listing:
1. I’m The Truth featuring Big Rube
2. It Feels Good
3. Louie featuring Young Jeezy
4. Almost There featuring Mannie Fresh
5. What’s Happening featuring Trina
6. F**k You featuring Slick Pulla
7. Tryin’ To Get Home featuring Lyfe Jennings
8. I’m Fly
9. Get Away
10. News Reporter
11. Go Head
12. Still A D Boy
13. I Miss You

OK, SOHH now that all the dust has settled with regards to Usher’s new project, I’d really like to know what’s the fans/haters true review is of the project. The best selling male of the decade has had some setbacks with “Here I Standâ€. SOHH what say you?
To date Usher’s new album has sold a respectable 689,332. Decent numbers by some standards but a disappointment from a Guinness Book of World Records holder. According to soundscan estimates Usher’s album slipped three to five as Lil' Wayne dominated the album charts. However with numbers like these it looks like Usher might just sell either a little under one million albums, or slightly higher than a million. And for such a stellar artist isn’t that a commercial flop?
I hate to compare the brutha to Justin Timberlake, but Justin’s last album sold between 3-4 million copies. It looks like I was on to something with the “Top 8 Reasons Why Usher’s Going To Flopâ€.
Hopefully Usher will grab Jermaine hop back in the studio and record, record, records, and have a new album out by next year. I know I would be more than willing to look the other way and give him a pass if he’ll just keep his family life private, pop them hips, dance his ass off, and drop great music.
But again, what’s your take on “Here I Standâ€
Talk to y'all lata,

Usher needs another producer point-Blank, drop Dupree!!! who ever is managing him needs to give the job back to his Mom, because she would get shit done!!!!!
Personally, I thought Here I Stand was average at best. I was expecting more heat from Usher.
On another note, how many records has Janet's Discipline sold. I thought the CD was real good and it didn't do well.
The folks just ain't really buying Cd's unless is pure fire!
Artist are going to have to step up.
I don't understand where all the unfounded hate that you bring in your blogs stems from. 698,000 albums sold is a great number considering the market right now. For three weeks he is doing considerably well. When Kanye sold 957,000 his first week, he fell quicker than rain water the next week. For Usher to stand in the top ten for three weeks with all these high numbers debuting (wayne, Plies, and Coldplay next week) says much about his staying power. Your blogs are never objective their subjective with very little facts to back up it up. The sad thing is that I am not really an Usher fan, but the numbers do speak for themselves because he could have been like Chris brown who really just went over the plaintum mark and is stalling.
EVEN THOUGH I CAN'T STAND USHER'S DIVA ATTITUDE OR TANTRUMS...I DON'T THINK "HERE I STAND" ISN'T A FLOP. HE WILL NEVER SELL LIKE CONFESSIONS...I MYSELF DIDN'T THINK THE MATERIAL WAS STRONG ENOUGH AND IT WAS RUSHED DUE TO ALL OF THE LEAKING, BUT I GUESS THAT'S NOT A EXCUSE ANYMORE VIA WEEZY SELLING LIKE CRACK IS FREE. I DO THINK USHER RUNNING AROUND WANTING TO FIGHT PEOPLE OVER HIS WIFE(FANSITES, DJS, OPEN LETTERS TO THE PRESS) HURT HIM THOUGH. HOPEFULLY WITH THE RE-RELEASE HE CAN REDEEM HIMSELF...AND HOPEFULLY THIS WILL HUMBLE HIS DIVA ASS!!! NOW HE'S TRYING TO DO COLLABO WITH JUSTIN...NOT TOO LONG AGO HE WAS TALKING SH*T BOUT THE DUDE...USHER IS REALLY A PIECE OF WORK! LOL
good read
i love usher but his new cd is just not doing it for me at all. Moving mountains is cool for the first 2 verses then it just starts to get repetitive and well- boring. Honestly I'm not even feeling the rest of the songz @ all.
OK GYANT GOOD BLOOD RAW INTERVIEW, BUT I HAVE TO DISAGREE WIT YOU SAYING USHERS ALBUM IS GOING TO FLOP, FIRST OF ALL IT HASNT BEEN OUT THAT LONG AND IT IS STILL SELLING PRETTY STRONG FOR HIM TO ONLY HAVE A COUPLE OF SINGLES OUT, SECOND OF ALL WITH ALL THE BOOTLEGGING DOWN LOADING AND ALL THE OTHER WAYS TO STEAL MUSIC IF A ARTIST LEGITIMATELY GOES PLATINUM MORE POWER TO THEM, IM STILL NOT CONVINCED THAT THE LABEL DIDNT BUY WAYNES ALBUMS BUT THATS NIETHER HERE NOR THERE, AND YOU HAVE TO THINK AFTER YOU BEEN AROUND FOR A WHILE YOU PRETTY MUCH KEEP YOUR REAL CORE FANS AND MAYBE YOU MIGHT PICK UP A COUPLE NEW ONES, NAME ME ONE BLACK R AND B SINGER USHERS AGE THAT WILL DO HIS NUMBERS YOU CANT BECAUSE THEY WONT LAST AS LONG!
Here I stand went off the strength of love in the club. moving mountains is just an okay song and is def not ushers best. he needs to get back with jd if he left him, cuz he did produce on the confessions album, and everybody knows that was the shit back in 04-05. this is just like when tip stopped fuckin wit toomp and was foolin round with all those other producers on TI vs. TIP. the cd was really average. i mean yeah, you gotta branch out to other producers, but shit, chemistry is chemistry, and chemistry equals hits believe it or not. and its hard to find a producer and artist team that mix really well. look at timberlake and timbaland. 3 million plus cd's sold
Let's keep it real....
I AM A BIG FAN OF USHER...but EVEN I was a bit less excited for this new project then I have been in the past for what was next from him
WHY???? Not because of his web presence as much as Gyant might say...but more so because the SOUL was missing from his biggest single "Love in this Club"....it was AN OBVIOUS "let's make this and try to do what "YEAH" did in 03".....
A LOT is lost in translation when you PURPOSELY make a record to get high radio spins...I believe that there is a very specific thing that is MISSING...leaving a hollow shell of a record when you PURPOSELY make a record to get record sales.
Yeah I know...it kinda is hard to understand what I'm saying...but the fact of the matter is....the name sold this album...not the hit single...because for all intensive purposes....it did it's job. Unfortunately when they finished the record....they didn't realize THE TRUE purpose of the record....would not equate to album sales. "Love in this Club" was inevitably...a ringtone...a really hot hot hot ringtone...featuring Young Jeezy...(yeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh)

"Pop those hips..."
You sir, are a homosexual.
Is this a tabloid site?
It's sad to say but Usher and Mary J Blige need a divorce, an affair, or something to bring the ol back cause this new side of them ain't working for me. Justin Timberlake has stolen Ushers shine and Robin Thicke is slowly creeping up which is sad cause Usher owned R&B.
SK is mad stupid! Kanye stayed in the top 10 for a long time. Usher's gonna go platinum but barely. I like his cd by the way, but I always thought 8701 was his best content. Confessions just sold more albums. I think the whole personal business with his baby momma stuff kinda hurt his career whereas his personal stuff with Chili helped because he was breaking up with here...or vice versa. People don't wanna buy a wifed up dude unless his cd is incredible. On another note, big ups to Lil Wayne for going platinum. Incredible record weezy!
What's good my peoplez! Listen if u like Jeezy, Blood raw, JayZ, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and so on. Type Mugsy Dollars in your main navigation bar, then click on Mugsy Dollars Myspace link and listen to his song "Good Money", and u will hear why he's Good Money. Also check out his videos and leave some words.
DC is coming.

You forgot to say "no homo."
do yall hate jd that much. yall keep his name in your mouth blame him for everything i.e janet lackluster sales but then u say usher needs him. i hope he gives u a ride on his jet or his lambo r whatever it is you are looking for so u can stop jock riding
AND HE NEEDS TO CARRY HIS DIVA ASS RIGHT BACK TO MOMMA PATTON...SHE KNEW HOW TO GET THE JOB DONE AND CURSE USHER ASS OUT WHEN HE NEEDED IT!!!
OH AND I MEANT TO SAY I DON'T THINK ITS A FLOP...BUT IT DAMN SURE WASN'T A SUCCESS EITHER!
Gyant you really suspect(once again) for wanting to see Usher "pop his hips" and all that other funny shit you be talking about.
but check out Steve Jobs taking all these record label's money...this is what you should be talking about instead of Usher popping his hips and not be sexy enough...
The path to world domination is paved in round numbers, especially big ones like this: 5 billion.
The face of the iTunes store.
(Credit: Apple)That's the number of songs that have been purchased and downloaded from the iTunes Store, Apple said Thursday. (Actually, for the record, the press release says "over 5 billion.")
That shouldn't be surprising, of course. Apple's iTunes store has long overshadowed the rest of the music download scene. Rivals have launched many an assault, but even e-commerce competitors as savvy as Amazon.com still face quite an uphill battle--sales of songs at 9-month-old AmazonMP3, the No. 2 digital music store, are only a tenth the volume of those at iTunes, according to market researcher NPD Group.
Apple is, in fact, the largest music retailer in the United States, period, having pushed past Wal-mart Stores earlier this year. And it seems to be making a healthy profit from its iTunes operations. No wonder many a politician is toying with the notion of taxing digital downloads.
The company also said on Tuesday that iTunes customers are toting up purchases and rentals of more than 50,000 movies per day.
Yo is Bloodraw the guy who made the song Louie bag" Or is track 3 a different song? Anyways it's still a fucking song about a man purse, therefore dude lost any credibility with me as well as Jeezy, waaay to many homo thugs in hip-hop.
I thought the Usher cd was straight personally. I mean its a grown up sound for someone who is trying to do the same. I mean really the majority of the music is relatable and maybe because its not as much drama attached to it, people saying the man fell off. Just like relationships, when he was bitchin about the heartbreak and pain everyone ears was open, now the dude happy and people looking at him like he doesnt quite have it all. Overall it made for a good listen. I admit when I 1st heard it I was not impressed, but it grew on me with each listen afterwards. So while it may not be his best, its definitely not his worst.
