Just because T.I.'s going through some personal discourse doesn't mean that his business savvy has been altered in any way. Just a few months after being handed down a less restrictive house arrest T.I. is already making some positive business moves by signing two hip-hop legends to Grand Hustle.
Apparently T.I. made the monumental announcement at this past weekends Birthday Bash. T.I. [T.I.P.] who shortly after making the announcement brought out the duo 8 Ball (Eightball) and MJG who performed in front of the sold out crowd at the Phillips Arena.
I guess this would explain why I kept seeing the legendary duo perched in the hallway right next to T.I's dressing room that night. While I was running around trying to pull some Matrix moves to snag a photo of Kanye West [which didn't happen because while in my mind I was being Neo, his people were being Agent Smith.] I kept noticing 8 Ball and MJG just hanging around.
But weren't they just recently signed to Bad Boy? Damn can Diddy do anything right?
What do you all think, is Grand Hustle a good move for these two? I mean I love my people over at Grand Hustle, but this one has me a little nervous.
But While You're Mulling That One Over.....
Last week I had the chance to sit down with Nitti/Jermaine Dupri's new artist 9th Ward. The newly signed PlayMaker/Def Jam artist is gearing up for the release of his debut album I Aint Looking Back.
Initially the thought of sitting down with yet another faceless, nameless rapper seemed too much to bare, but after coming through to Nitti's studio and listening to a few tracks from the album as well as sitting down with 9th Ward himself I walked away with an entirely different opinion.
If your able to put aside your biases and really just listen to his music I think that many of you will actually be pumping your fists for the New Orleans native. Check out the video above.
I think Nitti is on to something.
Um...kids if you ever needed an example on why it's important to stay in school here you go. What did he say? What's him selling a million copies got to do with a book drive?
Gyant says: Wayne leave the drugs alone, please!
Oh and yes congratulations on the million plus!
Talk to y'all lata,

First?
I think maybe he's saying people who bought history books also bought his albums. Or maybe The Carter III is going in a history book..or maybe your right he should go to Rehab. The video is hilarious though because he's dead serious. But what is he talking about?
He is a great player. I am a single girl from blackcentury.com and love him very much.
I LOVELIL WAYNE AND T .I FROM ;PREMPEH COLLEGE
Hell yeah signing 8 ball amd mjg is a good move for grand hustle and also for the south cause they pioneers in the rap game and in the south diddy wasn't using them right anyway badboy is a graveyard for artist
The way wayne be acin is what's gon keepin him from taking the game over..HE makes decent songs, but when he opens his mouth outside of what he records,he sounds like a fool...people aren't really gonna take him serious..His live shows are so so @ best..If he went hard with everything else like he goes hard with recording,he really could be THAT nigga..I don't think he cares though..he just wants to cash in
Wayne was a psychology major. He was going to college before and after Katrina hit. He is comparing the release of his album to the book fairs we had at elementary schools as children. Back in the day for that whole week you couldn't wait to get to that book fair. teachers didn't teach much you just wanted to get down there to find a great book to get some knowledge or to escape if you had rough childhood. (I am a breather of hiphop) So he is comparing it to a book fair for a child. You build anticipation for it all year because it only comes around once and the next time it comes it won't have the same material you have to get it while it's hot. You gotta get inside your favorite rappers mind in orders to understand his lyrics.
Gyant, you mean to tell me that you actually just didn't pay legends like 8ball&MJG no mind? I know they appeal to an older crow but come on Gyant, you could at least got some info from them. Anyway, I do agree with your point; Diddy can't do anything right man. Their last album was actually decent but didn't get any promotion. Diddy thinks he's some great producer but, he's had his time. Be easy Gyant!
...........................
He owes dat million sold to Static, he says the whole lollipop concept was Static idea. PLEASE NO CARTER 4! YOU GOT LUCKY WITH THIS ONE! LIKE DUDE SAID WHERE THE HELL WERE LUPE FANS AND OTHER ARTISTS WHO SHOULDVE DONE NUMBERS LIKE THIS! maybe CMR bought all those records like peeps say Def Jam did Ross's album!!
Great move for T.I., GH, 8Ball and MJG. T.I. will do right by them. Diddy is the plague for artist.
Shout out to Boston for getting their ring last night. Kobe this proves you can't do it without Shaq.

Just like candy...
8-Ball and MJG... By the way, "8-Ball" is the perfect name for a big, round, fat nigga that raps. Just like "Matt Herbz" is the perfect name for a young, trim White Nigga that fucked your moms. Probably still the most promising nom de guerre, too bad them niggaz never really came out with a certified coast-to-coast classic. Good looking by Three-Six by putting them in the video for "Stay Fly (High)," though...

That White Nigga
Of course 8ball & MJG signing to Grand Hustle is a good look!! Listen, Grand Hustle core audience are primarily southern cats who grew up listening to 8ball & MJG when nothing else was poppin. As someone who grew up in a rural area rappers were not interested in travelling the rural chittlin circuit to make money, but 8ball & MJG did. You could find them cats in the boonies doing a show. Therefore, they built a solid foundation that aided to there longevity. Trust me its a good look.
that's fine and all but what happen to the b.g. album? Til the B.G albums comes out I personally think that Grand Hustle is running on one tire call T.I
I digz Lil' Wayne, and I certainly hope folk quit pretending like he DIDN'T sell a milli-copies, because his buzz has ---FOR WHATEVER (-) REASONS--- been on the front of AmeriKKKa's lips/minds, for months.
It's just too bad, that years later, Black hip-hop rappers still have to have AmeriKKKa up in arms with negativity/self-Destructive Images, just to sell records.
hmmm...I wonder if he would glady trade-in his eventually 2+million copies sold, for...a re-do of the 'ole tour-bus trip through Arizona one recently-dreadful night.
To the writer, I think u might be more stupid than Lil Wayne if you didn't understand the history book/book drive analogy. Yet you are so quick to bash SMH.
great mpove on 8 ball&mjg grand hustle understands the roots of south rap they know how much weight ball & g hold down here where we are from they are rap icons they'll get better production and that push again from that majpr label backin they deserve man im excited cant weight to see what them memph tenn boys drop next excellent move by grand hustle
also to add on to jack o lantern
Wayne was also comparing kids going to the bookfair and buyn a book vs using the schools ones to ppl that went out to the store and paid for his album vs downloadn or file sharing.
i was never really a Lil Wayne fan but i have to say i like this album and am going to support and go buy it. im happy for him and i hope he sends that wack ass DJ who leaked his entire album sum flowers becuz he still went Platinum. I wonder how he feels trying to "ruin" Waynes career. He actually helped him. lmao at the ignorance.
Congrats to Lil' Wayne for selling a millie. All Love.

Official notice to the SOUTH you guys are on LIFE support you're biggest star TI has been labeled and called out on wax for SNITCHING, probably the second most respected rapper was recently exposed for having severe BITCH like tendencies...get that N8cca a tissue, and your Man of the hour while having an impressive debut week ( even though baby bought half them records, is a syrup addicted, bed wetting, sucker for love who got his last B8tch ( trina). snatched from him by said clown number. The trillest N8gga in the south died for real earlier this year, the state of florida is headed for civil war, between a washed up rapper not getting enough props for the foundation he laid, an upcoming sucka for love "ill pay for that new jack" who also is guilty of swagger jackin his latest album cover from said ho N8cca number 2 mention. And then you got the black FAT JOE who swears he is Tony Montana when in reality he's a former CO. The godfather to the southern sounds JD has issued death certificates to all Dj's. ANd the hottest N8gga out last year for yall was a sixteen year old swinging Clark Kent's Nuts ( cue the Ice T).
The run is official over by the end of the summer the slow beeps will be flatline.
REST IN PEACE.
congrats 2 lil weezy, im glad somebody is selling records!
