The creator and owner of Almost Famous, Rovella Williams, just put me on to some news about what she's putting together for a star studded event that's happening in July. You know I've been a big supporter of the Almost Famous movement for quite some time and have put you all on to her info over the years.

Check out the press release for what looks like a pretty interesting affair.

In celebration of the 4 year anniversary of the Almost Famous Show, Verseus Entertainment Group will offer a forum to discuss the Evolution of Urban Music Saturday, July 26th at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. VEG plans to bring more awareness to the foundation of urban music by inviting legendary music professionals to speak with some of today's chart toppers. The interaction will serve to inspire and enlighten aspiring artists, producers, and music executives in attendance as well as to educate consumers. The Almost Famous Forum will provide practical information about the music business and a platform for successful and legendary speakers to share their individual experiences. There is no blueprint for success in the music industry, but those who laid the foundation can certainly offer examples to follow.

The forum precedes the 2nd Annual Almost Famous Awards Show, which is a celebration of excellence within the emerging community of rappers, singers, music producers, DJ's and more. The awards show will honor those who've demonstrated an impeccable grind matched with exceptional talent throughout the year. The hottest female and male MC's, R&B's finest , the most effective management team, the Indy label with major impact, and the DJ dedicated to breaking new artists, and the publicist who's been most effective in their media campaigns for new artists are just a few of the categories. In addition, "They Can Make You Famous Awards" will be presented to several previous judges of the show over the past 4 years to reward them for their tireless efforts and success in molding superstars. Honorees include Kawan "KP" Prather, DJ Toomp, Bryan Michael Cox, Mr. Collipark, Chaka Zula, TJ Chapman and more.

I feel what you sayin and all JD but you know it's funny you mention shit about the DJ dead in hip-hop when nigga... I don't see you wit no DJ? So WTF are you talkin' bout you part of the reason the DJ is dead?

JD = Jermaines Dead. Janet's Dead. u stupid, sounds like you have explained that the DJ is alive and has expanded. You just have to pass the baton to the right nigga. a true nigga that is still incorporating the old with the new. I still get cats that want me to spin they shit in the clubs and wan me to make a mixtape for them. I don't sell mixes i promote new songs if an artists wants they issh out. labels don't promote so they asking somebody to do it. so is felly fel dead nicca?

I'm a real DJ www.djcharliehood.com
DJs can take on any form of what real hip hop which should be creatively entertaining with music. A good DJ can read the crowd, move the crowd, control the flow of a club, radio station, mixtape, or any event.

Some DJs are better than some in different areas of dj'ing (like Qbert is the best known for his scratcing). I do a little of it all. JD = Janet and Jermaine's Dead. like his braids became.

There are bad DJs, fake DJs, like fake MCS and fake thuggin MCS like Wayne. U want real DJing and real MCing you can find it. Why are we acting like faking in all forms doesn't exist?

I still get people look at me crazy when they see i'm a real DJ. It's great because they know they will be truely entertained without the big ego.

Peace

Son is telling the truth about the DJ's ..too many are competing with the artists for the same shine, the same seat...but.. aren't creating anything unique...just consuming or recycling and not producing for the culture. Too truly understand this you have to have a wholesome respect for the art of dj'ng from its infancy to where it is at now. There was a time that the DJ defined what was hot...now DJ'S just follow the leader..and with technology advancing music... to simply call yourself a DJ is so much easier...that cats with no skill that want to "get into the game" simply buy a dj computer program..and photoshop graphics software and make them a mixtape...not even learning the art of how to mix songs, song placement.let alone what a dj's role is....on one end you can't blame these young cats..Cause there are alot of "bosses" out there (they know who they are) that are static clinging, crashing into each other and the songs they get the "exclusive" or "drop bombs" on...cause they've lost respect hence the point we are at now...

Alot of heads got mad at Wayne...but subconsciously they can understand his point...he just didnt put it eloquently enough.

We as DJ's and lovers of the music have to hold cats accountable for their art...rather your rappin, emceein..DJing..producing or even blogging... keep it creative...fresh...stay in your lane...do what you do...but do it well..and Hiphop will love you for it!

Fuck Jermaine Dupri...Fuck mainstream hip-hop, they're all stupid.

DJ Premier, Pete Rock, 9th Wonder, DJ Scratch...just to name a fuckin few...are still DJ'ing. It began and scratching and rocking a party so don't act like that shit doesn't happen still.

Until names like those "physically" die, the DJ is dead. There you go though, another executive who doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about, blinded by the loot.

I'ma just stick to what's real and fuck the fake because every day mainstream hip-hop keeps presenting itself to me. So yeah like Nas said, fuck rap and get paper.

P.S. Support underground rap music.

JD IS COMPLETELY RIGHT...I WAS KINDA UPSET AT THE LIL WAYNE SITUATION CASUE I ALWAYS TELL MY CLIENTS TO RESPECT DJS TO THE FULLEST...BUT THESE DJS ARE OUT ON THERE OWN AGENDA THESE DAYS AND WANT A NICCA TO CHASE AFTER THEM WHEN THEY DOING PROJECTS FOR MY CLIENTS..LOL..AND THEN WHEN THEY DO EM THEY NOT HELPING PROMOTE OR DROPPING THE PROJECT OR LOGOS ON ANY OF THEIR OWN PROMO MATERIAL ..THAS NOT FAIR TO THE ARTIST OR LABEL AT ALL...IM REALLY FED UP WITH THEM MYSELF AND IM GLAD SOMEONE IS SPEAKING UP..TRUE THEY ARE THE ONES THAT HAVE ALOT OF PULL AS FAR AS BREAKING RECORDS AND SHAKING THINGS UP ( AS U CAN TELL BY CHUCK T) BUT WE HAS BLACK SUITS AND THE ARTIST DONT HAVE TO KISS UP TO THEM WHEN THERE IS NO EXCHANGE IN THE RELAY...AND THAS REAL TALK..PRECIATE YA JD

Wow "DJ CHARLIEHOOD", if any body reads your post they'l think JD smacked your momma or some shit. Dude is just saying what he believes, and im not saying I agree with him, but as a promoter my self all niggas in the industry have to remain neutral and make the culture thats hip hop grow indeed to the next level. We are the reason why fake ass south rappers like wayne and plies are fucking selling records, naah its not done like that bro, take emotion out of it and handle ur end as a top spinning DJ, make it work for you. JD is JD and you are CHARLIE HOOD, JD cannot determine how you make your dough.

D j's have elevated the Game. It a different day now- DJ want to get paid now for their marketing services as well as put music out for their artist's. The majority of producers in the game started out as DJ's dancers ect ect> Hel JD used to be a dancer for Whodini! -
J D's statement shows how Dj are doing more now than just simply playing records in the club! hell Jd should find a way to make money of of the brat and some of his washed up artists LOL ! ALSO JD LOOSES MAD POINTS FOR SAYING NI***GER TOO MUCH! THAT SHT IS TYPE CORNY!

%1000 right JD it's a dam shame. But you now have to have good music for people to buy it. No more prime position it's on iTunes, what's your name ? DELRAY and his shit is fire The Bigger Picture is the album "Fench Manicure" is on fire on iTunes.

Yeah...I agree. the DJ's are Dead beacause they are LAME !!

These suckers cant even recognize talent or underground hits/not radio hits.
They cant break artist, move crowds nor pack out clubs or events.

there are a lot of FAKE wanna be DJS (Drama is the 1st) thats why his album did not sell.

REAL DJS:

Youre the reason why rap is the way it is, bringing out KrisKross, Get the Fuck outta here with that Corny shit! Who thought of JD as the authority in HipHop? He's words mean nothing

Ya'll raggin' on JD for not having a DJ are stupid. JD is a DJ. He was talking about those fake DJs. The one's that won't be able to pull that shit for much longer....stay tuned

djs killed hiphop.they take paola to play wack songs over and over .and im talking about the radio staton djs.not the other ones. how much luv you wanna get for pressing play??? thats like the dude that works for HBO trying to get props for playing a movie.or trying to act big cause he presses play.for all you radio station djs YOU GET PAYED BY THE RADIO STATION!!!! YOU WANT more MONEY?? STOP KILLING HIP HOP AND LEARN HOW TO MAKE BEATS AND SELL THEM IN STED OF PLAYING MC JELLY BELLY AND HIS SNAPING CREW.hell up outta here

(LOL) I normally don't agree much with "JD", but this time I do agree, but industry executives like "JD" and Artist like Lil Wayne dissing "DJ's" don't help!!!!!!!!!!!

for those that didn't know J.D. is not only a producer but also a D.J. He's has nothing but love and respect for the game, dude is giving us his take on why the music game is the way it is, and i agree, we must become the change we wish to see the better change myself included.
