I was looking at Plies new album cover yesterday and for some reason I thought it looked familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. However, after looking around the internet it finally hit me
Now how you gonna swagger jack Young Buck of all people? Are there any Plies fans in Atlanta? I never see him here.
And Speaking Of Plies..
Last night I stopped by a private listening session held by Q Parker from 112. It seems he's trying to put together a solo project and he invited the movers and shakers of the entertainment world to review some of his cuts. While I have always admired Q's vocal ability more so than Slim's I really think that if he's going to be taken seriously in today's ultra fickle music industry, he's going to have to get some up-to-date material.
A lot of the songs I heard were good, but I felt about 5 years too late. They all seemed dated. Of course I remember Q, and 112 from back in the day, but these kids don't, and you have to account for that.
I suggest he call up Ne-Yo to get on the project because Shaffer is blessed with selling R&B music to today's consumers. Plus he's also helped a lot of others sell it too. I think Q definitely has the chops, but I just wonder if the buying public is going to care.
Who honestly remembers Q from 112? And if SOHH do you think he's got a shot at a solo career?
Somebody sent me this video of something called the "Pepsi Mic Pass: ATL All Stars II" I have no idea what the hell this is. Between Bobby, Chingy, the Ying Yang Twins, Rocko and Shawty Lo I can't help but wonder "where's the all-stars"? I guess that's why Coca Cola calls ATL home because they'd know that ain't nobody checking for NONE of these kats.

at first i liked plies..i put him in the mold of a tupac because of his diverse subject matter...especially telling about the heart of a thug instead of just the exterior they want the world to see...however after "bust it baby" 1-5 ive had it with him....i loved "driving my momma crazy" but he focuses too much on the "bus'it bebee's"....he raps monotone no matter the beat and it wears on your nerves after awhile........ Q on the other hand has a beautiful very distinctive voice and depending on the material he could make an impact..he should however take ne-yo's lead and focus on the 25 and over crowd and try not to go with the younger kids because they really dont know what music is and will listen to damn near anything

But most folks don't know that Plies and Buck are actually stealing this album cover idea from JMoney and DJ Lucky Luke from Atlanta... In 2003, they released "Knockout: It's Over." The album cover was a snapshot of security footage that had both of them donning ski masks and sticking up the admissions office at Emory University. They made off with about $800 Gs and threw the biggest off-campus party Atlanta's ever had... Them niggaz rep it.

I have had enough of this shit. Why Why Why do you insist on insulting every artist, event, anything related to the Atlanta music scene. First of all, YES, Plies has a huge fan base in Atlanta. You dont have to see him here to know that. Check out any club when Plies is doing a show here and see how the place will be shut down. Secondly, Q from 112 may not be known to the youngsters(18-24) but he still has a shot (25-35) age range who are familiar with 112 or who just like R&B. Last but not least, how could you even question who is checking for the ATL artist on the Pepsi Mic Pass, even if they are local jokers, they still have a fan base, so somebody is checking for them. Hell if Shawty Lo only sold 90,000 here in the A alone, that's 90,000 fans that the man has. Same for Rocko and whoever else is on there. So obviously SOMEBODY is checking for them. I am a woman, born and raised here in the A, and I've had enough of you insulting the main people you are supposed to help promote and give exposure to our Atlanta artists.

1. In today's landscape it is no longer about any of the four elements of hip hop nor it's core principles (stealing, biting, jacking, etc.). It's about marketing, promotion & soundscan. There is no REAL connection to the audience so there is no fan loyalty to support any one artist's project.Also realize the difference between hip hop and rap. As a hip hop artist Plies could lose ALL his credibility by doing some crap like that, but as a rapper it's permissible for the sake of selling records.
2. Q could do ok if he realizes that he will not thrive as a mainstream/ major label success in today's climate. He should go after 112's fan base and maintain his artistic integrity. A song with Craig Mack is more palatable than a collabo w/ Plies. I don't understand why older artists try to appeal to a younger base anyway as if their peer group don't buy records. Q needs to set up consultation w/ Eric Roberson and Canton Jones for how to maximize sales @ his level w/o compromise
3. Shout to my dude V.I.C. (Mr Get Silly) in that Pepsi Smash jumpoff (get ya bread homie). But that was straight garbage, corny and would make me vow to never drink Pepsi again. But I know them dudes got a nice check from that. That reminds me I think I still got their marketing director's contact. I'm calling to cuss him out!!!!
