Real Talk With Rocko Da Don[Video]!!

rocco.jpg

Last week I got a chance to catch up with the uber busy new artists, Rocko Da Don, while he was in town filming two new music videos for "Tomorrow", and "This Morning". Y'all know I got that exclusive video for you below. Check it out below.

I've run into Rocko many times over the past few months, but never got the chance to officially introduce myself. But apparently my reputation proceeded me because he knew exactly who I was. To my surprise Rocko accused me of being that "hatin blogger", which surprised me because as far as Rocko is concerned I think I've been pretty nice, haven't I?

But, anyway Rokco talked to be about how he got in the game, why he chose to go with Def Jam. He also talked about how much he's involved in a lot of projects on behind the scenes.

While I can appreciate dudes hustle. I really can't believe that Jermaine and LA Reid signed homie for millions of dollars. I'm sorry I just don't believe that. Meanwhile, Rocko's new album is in stores now. SOHH if you're a fan go cop that disc.

T.I.'s Got Haterz Everywhere, Legal Experts Are Questioning The "Kings" Sweet Plea Deal!! Plus, Bun B Talks Blogs & Yours Truly!!

ti-complex-cover2.jpg

You knew it was bound to happen, or at least I did. Just days after T.I. shocked the world of hip-hop with his unheard of plea deal. People are now questioning the "unusual" guilty plea deal. Check it out below.

Some legal experts are questioning why the federal government accepted a plea deal offered by lawyers representing an Atlanta hip hop artist who was facing federal gun charges.

Thursday, T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, Jr., plead guilty to illegally buying machine guns. In exchange for his plea, T.I. must perform 1000 hours of community service by late March of next year.

The deal is unusual considering T.I. was a convicted felon prior to federal gun charges. Atlanta defense lawyer Page Pate says cases like T.I.'s usually leave defendants with at least a 5 year sentence.

PATE: There are a lot of people who are sitting serving time in federal prison right now who would love to talk to schools and churches and other community groups to serve some of their time, but they can't do that because they don't have his celebrity.

US Attorney David Nahmias yesterday defended the agreement saying T.I. has a greater chance of positively influencing at-risk youth than any government awareness campaign. T.I. could also face stiffer penalties if he breaks the plea deal.

Source

While I knew that question would arise over such a unique situation, I for one am not complaining. How many black people do you know that get over on the legal system - ZERO! Unless you count OJ Simpson, and Michael Jackson which I don't. The system is designed to imprison, and destroy the black community [sorry to my white readers, but it is what it is].

Look, we all know Clifford got off like a bandit, but I for one see no issue with it. As long as local, state, and federal task forces continue to act recklessly by targeting African Americans. I will continue to just look the other way when a brutha catches a break!

Just my opinion, but what say you?

But While You're Pondering That One Check Out Bun B's SOHH Focused Video.....

SOHH caught up with Bun B in NYC recently to talk about his new album, II Trill , a Pimp C tribute song, and, well - me. Check out what one of the founding fathers of Southern Hip-Hop had to say about yours truly. Man, I love my job!

EXCLUSIVE: Thunder, Thunder, Thunderkatz.... HOOOOOOOOOOO!! [Part One]

Thunderkatz.jpg

The Thunderkatz [not to be confused with the widely popular 80’s animated television show] are some of the new faces on Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc records

I got a chance to drop by a recording session at Atlanta’s legendary Patchwerk Recording Studios recently, and I chopped it up with the band about their sound, their take on how they’re going to impact the music game. And of course why in the hell they choose to name themselves after such an iconic TV show.

The best way to describe this alternative hip-hop[esque] group would be “hybrid”. They are a little bit of nostalgia mixed in with a whole lot of innovationâ€"and just a dash of punk. They’ve created a pioneering sound that’s multi-dimensional. Yet their diversity in their music is placing them in a unique position to not be labeled as any one type of sound.

The band mates o8o [Dell], Ginger, Ben jive, Jus Jon, XO, and Juno collectively make up this unconventional group. Picture the Black Eyed Peas, but with a more authentic sound â€" and you got these kats.

They have an undeniable cross over appeal, but can still deliver some infused hip-hop for the hip-hop heads. And guess what, they are from the ATL and they’re trying to do it big.

Check out my video sit down with them below.

I will have more on these guys later on next week. Stay Tuned....

Shout out to Corey Cooper for staying on top of me about these katz.

Bow Wow Wants Everyone To "Stunt When I See You"!!

[Blogger Note: I ran this post early yesterday morning, but then the T.I. information broke so I took it down. Y'all know the King gets priority. LOL]

bowwowgapsmall.jpg

Y’all remember when Bow Wow got himself caught up in the “I’m A Flirt” scandal with R. Kelly? For those of you who forgot let's refresh real quick.

Bow Wow made a song with R. Kelly, it seems R.Kelly remade the song which had Bow Wow fighting mad. And to the end, it seems that Bow will be damned if it happens again. SOHH he’s taking to Youtube.com to make sure everybody knows that his new music is HIS OFFICIAL RECORD! Check it out below.

Bow Wow ft. DJ Khaled & Lil Wayne - Stunt When I See You

Bow Wow - Umma Do Me Freestyle

What do you all think about the tracks? I will be out all day. I got to check out Rocko's video shoot that's filming today. Shoutout to Nigel of Realtalk for the tracks.

EXCLUSIVE: [Video] T.I.'s Gets Off...Kinda!

ticourt.jpg

OK, I just got back from court y'all. And though the video I got is sh*t due to the heavy wind, but I managed to get something good out of it.

If you haven't heard by now T.I. beat the system! The man was looking at 30 years if convicted for all the illegal gun charges. I wont front, I was the main one saying that the man was done. And how could I not? Here you have a black man who had enough ammo to survive World War Three. Hell a lot of bruthas have gone down for doing A LOT less.

However it seems that the justice system only cares about one particular color, and that's the color of money.

Hey, I'm not hating. If you got the money to spend; Handle your business. I'm glad that his entire family, wont have to bare all the stress and drama. Not to mention having to shell out canteen money.

Here is the video I got - again - it's not my best, but that damn wind was a b*tch today!

Shout out to Jason Jeter, Hannah King, and the entire Grand Hustle crew.

**BREAKING NEWS: TI Is Going To Prison!!

ti1.jpg

I've been telling you all for months that this man was doomed. There was no way that the "King of the South" could beat the legal system - at least all the way anyway. And now word has just broke that can back up my claim. Check it out below.

Published reports are claiming the following:

T.I., real name is Clifford Harris, is expected to be sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service talking to youth groups around the country, followed by about 12 months in prison.

The rapper was arrested last October for attempting to buy machine guns - paying for them with cash and without registering for them, as mandated by the law.

He was charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, as well as possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

He faced a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count.

T.I. initially pleaded not guilty, and has been under house arrest since he was released on $3 million bond October 26th.

A change-of-plea hearing is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. at the federal courthouse in Atlanta today.

Source

Listen, at the end of the day 12 months in prison ain't sh*t seeing that the man was looking at 10+ years. If I were him I'd walk into the court room with the biggest smile. He beat the system - somewhat! I look at this day as a day of celebration. To the people at Atlantic and Grand Hustle. We got your boy back.

Let's hope he truly learned from this situation. But what do you guys think? In a year from now will you all still be lining up to buy what T.I.'s selling? [no pun intended].

[Blog Note: OK, I am going to go down the court house today to get some video. Stay Tuned]

Poppin Or Floppin Audio Of The Week: Big Boi, and Andre 3000's "Royal Flush"! Plus, An Apology From Blogger PZ!!

BigBoiDXB.jpg

Y'all know we've all been waiting for some new music from Atlanta's most favorite hip-hop duo Outkast. Well it seems the guys have finally headed our requests. But was it worth the bullet?

What do you guys think of the track? Personally I like it! I think its what hip-hop needs right now, but a lot of my other real hip-hop heads are a little disappointed SOHH I'm posing the question to you. But shout out for them putting Raekwon on the track.

To me they've taken the best of who they were, and fuzed it with the best parts of who they are now. It's f*cking amazing to me.

And while you're pondering that one. Let me share with you all a letter I got yesterday from a blogger who many of us know as PZ.

What's goin on LT.

Ey man, I just wanted to shoot you this email to apologize to you for any and everything I might've said which was out of line homey. I know you've got my IP banned, but that's not why I'm writing. I'm just writing to do the right thing bro. You may read this, you may not.

Either way, I just wanted to let you know bro that attacking another individual for anything, that's not right. We should be building each other up. And although I may not agree with what you say, or how you say things at time...I have no right to come in on you personally, and neither does anybody else on that blog. Until we as a people, all people, come together man...we ain't never gonna make progress as a race. And I mean human race.

So brother, good luck in everything you do. I pray sincerely that this finds your heart as it was intended. You see I got my personal information and all that on the bottom man, it's all good. Alot of times people attack others or criticize others because there is something within them that is not right. And I been dealin with some personal things myself. No excuse, but I just wanted to let you know where I was coming from. I'm a real person bro. And right now, I'm really just needing to make amends and clean up some stuff in my own closets so God can take me to that next level. And how I been actin towards you...a man simply tryin to do a job, I needed to correct that.

I pray all is well with ya man, remember God is real bro. If you feel led, I would appreciate it if you unbanned my IP. If you do not, I would understand that as well. Keep your head up despite all the haters bro.

CHRIST BLESS!
PZ

Thanks PZ for that letter. I will see what I can do about getting you off IP ban. Listen to all who come here, I have no problem with you commenting. I mean lets face it without you reading my shit I wouldn't have a job. But sometimes your comments go beyond opinions and they get downright personal -- too personal. I see a lot of sociopathic behavior from a lot of the commentors on here on a daily basis. It's become all to easy for you to just type the most awful things about someone because many of you hide behind a screename. No matter what you may think of the Gyant personality, the truth is I'm L.T. Dinwiddie - an actual person. I act with a certain level of responsibility when I throw grease at the most hated celebrity I expect the same from the readers at least on this blog.

Again, I thank you for letter Andrew and I will see what I can do.

And as far as SR is concerned for all who are emailing and calling. Well I think this commentor said it all in this post see [original post here].

I' see y'all come down hard on Gyant over the years and never said anything. But being in the industry I've seen this chick Sandra Rose pull some messy stunts in the past - and this one is no different. I know both these bloggers and I have to side with Gyant on this. Sandra will always také a portion of the truth and stretch it out so much that the truth gets lost. Now as far as Gyant doing other blogs I think thats no secret. Gyant blogs for Prince's atlpics.net, a ringtone site out in LA that Sohh on the scene joint etc. But Sandra got her nerve trying to put this dude on blast. She be the one telling all of Monica's business about Rocko. She talks trash about Simon, and Alex Gideon. She sends information to mediatakeout.com often. She always tells Tiny's business that I hear Tiny's mom tells her. Didn't Gyant help you from taking a serious ass beating from Andree 3000's goons one night? Hasn't Gyant helped you out with you arch nemisis Jimmi Flixx? Didn't Gyant have your back when many people in the atl don't like to fux with you. And the most saddest thing thing about all this is aren't you like 45 years old? Again, I know both these bloggers and though I think that what they both do is cool. I look at Gyant as the more credible one. Sandra Rose tapes peoples conversations without them knowing (can anyone say Keyshia Cole and Jeezy). We might call Gyant out for his questionable opinions about bullshit but Sandra Rose constantly proves to be a bigger snake in the greater sense. I'm team Gyant on this one. Yo Gyant hit me up (you know who this is) I know you aint trying to feed into this but shut this ole lady down....

And you're right I'm not feeding into a 45 year old womans nonsense. I'm grown!

According to hitsdailydouble.com Rocko's debut album didn't exactly connect with fans in retail stores. Check out the CD sales below.

The projected sales for "Self Made" are estimated to be around the 18,186 range. At lesat that was the figure that hitsdailydouble.com said earlier this morning. However in their update Rocko was no where on the charts.

Why Dem Franchise Boyz Trying To Front? Plus Listen to T.I. Address The Crowd On Easter Sunday[Audio]!

dmfb.jpg

I don't mean to throw grease [yea, right] but what the hell is going on with Dem Franchize Boyz? I mean it’s clear that their new single “Talkin’ Out Da Side Of Your Neck” is a sheer flop. But weren’t they signed to So So Def Records? What the hell happened?

According to one popular Atlanta website Dem Franchize Boyz reportedly “outgrew” their recording contract with Jermaine Dupri, and decided to move over to Capitol Records. Now I hate to question the validity of the “outgrew” statement, but are you kidding me? Let’s just take a look at the evidence shall we.

I’m not going to front, I really liked this track. But it wasn’t the DFB. Anything with Da Brat featuring I usually dig. Sidebar question: why does she always make someone else’s project pop but when it comes to her own sh*t it’s always lame?

Sorry Monica, but this crap was lame. And hanging with the boyz only shattered her credibility.

Call me an as*hole, but I really can’t seem to find the “outgrew” part anywhere. If anything they sound worse then they did when they were up under JD [that’s not a slam Jermaine just an opinion].

I said all that to say that with a new label, new single, but the same old sound, how can they really expect to sell any units. Hell I could attend a show for free and I wouldn’t even waste my time.

Something to think about Capitol!

But while you're all mulling that bullsh*t over. Check out some audio I got of T.I. addressing the congregation of New Birth Baptist Church this past Easter Sunday.

Soulja Boy Attacked By Fan With Concrete! Plus, T.I. Free, And I Got Pics!!

souljaboy.jpg

You know Chris Rock made a joke on one of his HBO specials about how young kids scare the sh*t out of him now a days. I for one don't fear many things in life, but young people do tend to have me on alert more so than adults. Well it seems that Soulja Boy will now be just as on guard as the rest of us after a young hater took his hate to the ultimate extreme.

According to published reports Atlanta's favorite teen idol, Soulja Boy, got assaulted by a young kid while out on tour recently.

A 12 year-old boy was taken into custody Wednesday night for throwing a rock through the windshield of Soulja Boy's tour bus. When asked why he committed such a heinous act. The kid told arresting officers, "I hate Soulja Boy."

Neither Soulja Boy nor his reps were available for comment.

These little bastards of the world need some serious ass whoppings. It saddens me to see our youth turning out to become more notorious with each passing generation.

Y'all pray for Soulja Boy, and the kids of today. It's not their fault - they don't have any role models. Whether it be in real life, or on television.

But while you're all hating on the teenagers, I'm sure, check out some info on Tip Below.

Late last week I told you all about T.I.'s surprise good news that he would be able to attend Easter Services at the New Birth Baptist Church in Lithonia. Well Sandra Rose scored some exclusive shots of the embattled rapper along with his ever expanding family. Checkout the photo.

tip-easter-pic.jpg

I was going to trek it out to east bubble f*ck to get some video for you all to see. But A. I'm not paid to work holidays. And B. Can't the man use a break for once? I mean hell, even sinners have soul too right daddy? [that was a line from The Color Purple, in case you were wondering]. Of course the one time I decide not to go I hear T.I. was extra friendly, and accommodating to the press. Go Figure. Is Cee Lo Caught Up In The "Boondocks -Hunger Strike" Debacle? Plus, I Got The Video For You!

Photobucket

I got to tell you that I have never watched an episode of “The Boondocks”. Unfortunately this job doesn’t leave much time to just lay back and watch the boob tube. But I had been hearing SOHH much about this new episode that was banned in North America over some BET jabs that the network deemed so offensive that the Cartoon Network decided to against airing it. However, thankfully we live in a time where the powers that be only have control of their networks, and not the internet.

Thanks to World Star Hip-Hop for snatching this video for us. It is 19 minutes and 20 seconds of course minus the commercials. Tavis Smiley played himself and dissed BET! Caution: Discretion is advised. Coarse language! Wear headphones at work!

In the episode, Huey's hunger strike against BET is supported by Reverend Rollo Goodlove, voiced by guest star Cee-Lo. The Gnarls Barkley crooner also narrates the episode, in which BET head Deborah Leevil, a Dr. Evil type ruler, runs the network with nothing but ill will in mind. She kills an employee at the board table for a bad opinion. She even bows and kneels to a Viacom-like character like Sumner Redstone, Viacom's big boss. Viacom owns BET.

Weggie Rudlin, a man who strongly resembles BET's President of Entertainment, Reginald Hudlin, stands before her meekly and says: "My Harvard education tells us that our goal is to take all the s***ty reality shows that MTV did five years ago and make them black… Next month we're going to have our first award show honoring video hoes, or as I like to call it, a hoe-wards show."

Boondocks is a cartoon about an angry point of view of two black kid brothers on everything. They live with their grandpa who they constantly argue with. Above are relevant screenshots of the controversial episode which has CNN, the Drudge Report, with BET and even MTV on blast. It was real fun and I was ashamed that CN banned it. The only thing I could see about the ban was when Huey, one of the kids went on CNN to protest BET. CN and CNN are both owned by Time Warner. That may pose a conflict of interest. There was even a Walmart employee, homeless people and illegal immigrants who said they were supporting BET employees treated like crap with no money by giving them the little they earn. Some BET employees were shown as homeless people living under bridges!

Huey's demand was that BET stop demeaning women on their music videos and pay their employees well, so the kid went on a hunger strike.

In the end, they all become friends and their pictures were all featured on Matt Drudge's "Drudge Report." It is too early to tell if BET will try to kill free speech by attempting any legal action on World Star Hip-Hop. LET'S HOPE NOT!

For me personally this animation is an accurate portrayal of how certain stations, I cant just single out BET, further add to the modern day minstrel show. Again, I dont get a chance to watch that much television so for me its not that much of a problem. But to my young black brothers and sisters, I become extremely worried and troubled by the constant negative images that are displayed by big networks.

What do y'all think about it?

Hot Boyz Reunion Imminent? Atlanta Doing OK After Tornado, Plus, Why Is Juvenile In Such High Spirits?

atl-tornado.jpg

I'm sure by now you heard that the city of the ATL got it's ass kicked by a tornado this past weekend. It's ironic for me because I came here from West Palm Beach, Florida by way of NYC. And it's the hurricanes that moved me from South FL. I thought that ATL was safe from any natural disasters. But I guess that I and many others were wrong. But what's done is done. I hope everybody is OK. And now let's focus on this rumored Hot Boyz reunion.

1837-%2848%29.jpg

It seems while we were getting the sh*t kicked out of us over here in the ATL. The Hot Boyz were reuniting in New Orleans. [I know what you're thinking N.O. ain't Atlanta, but we kind of got our own issues poppin off SOHH let's just give me a pass today. OK?] Mannie Fresh, B.G. and Baby, and Slim were together again further adding to the rumors that the Hot Boyz reunion is a go. But I don't know. I mean wasn't Baby beefing with Mannie not too long ago? And didn't B.G. claim in NUMEROUS interviews that he wasn’t messing with Baby or Wayne anymore?

Is this a genuine reunion or a desperate attempt at some media coverage?

And speaking of media coverage...

Photobucket

I don't want to pretend to understand how one interprets death of one of their childen But since perception is what drives most to formulate their opinions, then I am to perceive that Juvenile isn't all that torn up about the loss of his seed.

Shout out to Julia Beverly of Ozone Magazine for hooking me up with the pictures.

SOHH Gyant Randomness: When Splaboo's Attack!! Plus, New Artist Poppin Or Floppin: Vawn "Cuz I Hustle"

Photobucket

[Blogger Note: It's been one long crazy ass weekend. Between the Tornado that hit, and the parties that just wouldn't stop your boy is BEAT. I will be updating the blog a little later today. I got to get some sleep. But I typed this up last week, and didn't get around to posting it. Check it out. Plus check out Vawn below too.]

If you’re some how baffled by the title of this post allow me to clarify what a splaboo is exactly. According to court documents the King of Pop [or should I say former], Michael Jackson, refers to all black people as a splaboo. When this news first came out years ago, of course people were outraged. But, over time friend in my head, Wendy Williams, has coined it as a black person who does something incredibly ignorant that is flashy, and extremely ghetto.

After watching this video of Floyd Maywheather allowing cameras to follow him into his bed room where he pulls out one million dollars from his night stand as well as allow himself to be taped counting, and storing such a large amount into a big duffle bag. I am more than convinced that the boxing champion is extremely splaboo.

Why we as black people, and yes it not just entertainers, continue to floss what he have [or more importantly what we don't have] in such an exaggerated way is beyond me. We seem to live in a society that perpetuates the idea that deems it necessary to display your earnings in such materialistic way i.e. incredibly expensive jewelry, an expensive automobile, or hell even the most expensive mobile phone, And if you somehow abandon those splabovian principles you're considered to be corny.

I understand that most of us come from nothing. Most of us have spent our entire lives struggling SOHH we feel the need to floss out of control. But there comes a point when you have be smart about your own personal situation. Showing people where you keep cash, even if only for promotional purposes is just down right splaboovian.

This video is the most blatant example of why we as a people just cant seem to come up like our white counterparts.

It is my prediction that this dude will be broke in 5 years time. Black people; We are going to have to make better choices with our finances.

And you all are letting that marinate, have a listen to yet another So So Def recording artist who goes by the name of Vawn,

Photobucket

His official single "Cuz I Hustle" features Purple Ribbon's Scar. I believe Vawn was signed to JD's So So Def label [actually I just got an email. He is NOT with So So Def he's Def-Jam all the way]. I have had the chance to chat it up with the Atlanta rapper a few times, and he's a pretty cool dude.

Take a listen to his single, and decide for yourself if he's poppin', or floppin'

Bow Wow Don't Want None Of Trey Songz!

DSC02244.JPG

Trey Songz stopped by Ryan Cameron's popular daytime radio program yesterday to promote his current tour with J. Holiday, and The Dream. But when the conversation turned to Bow Wow, you know I was all ears. Check it out below.

In the video clip below Trey hadn't heard the mediatakeout.com rumor that he and Bow Wow were beefing. Check out his response.

His response was pretty tame, but Trey made it well known in the studio that Bow Wow is in no way a threat. Someone even made a comment that if you had a problem with Bow - Omarion might buck on you. [and that comment was not made by Trey].

SOHH I see I am not the only one who has no respect for the teeny bopper rapper. Hey, does anyone know what he and O's last album did?

And since we are talking about Bow Wow.

I hear the little tyke is now officially grown. He turned 21 years old last weekend. I heard he had a big bash in Washington DC. I wonder why he's abandoned ATL? I heard he suddenly sold his home, and hasn't been seen around the city in over a year. Whats up with that Bow?

Special shout out to Cannon Kent, Amir, and Ryan Cameron for allowing me to be a fly on the wall in the studio. You know SOHH Atlanta's got a lot of love for y'all.

Poppin Or Floppin Video Of The Week : Shawty Putt ft. Lil Jon 'Dat Baby'! Plus Why Cant Bun B. Just Be Real With It? Plus Rocko In Store Info!

liljondrums.jpg

Lil Jon has a new video out that that I wanted to share with you all. Check it out below.

Y'all already know what I'm thinking SOHH why even waste the keystrokes. I've learned to tune a lot of the bullsh*t out. I could honestly give a crap what the hell y'all say anymore. However, I will give Jon props on the beat! I could most definitely ride out to this beat down 75/85.

I'm going to need Bun B. to get off the damn fence and speak his mind about sh*t that's adding to the demise of hip-hop. It's like you can almost predict what the southern rapper is going to say when you ask him a question these days.

It's as if he fears that if he goes against the grain of a rapper that he wont get beats, or guest features or something. Judge, and be judged! We all judge people it's one of things that makes the world go round. But his refusal to speak out on different situations that many of us openly dissect on a daily basis makes me look at him with a slightly crooked eye.

Get off the fence and answer the question[s] homie.

SOHH Gyant Randomnes: Why Atlanta Is One Of The Greatest Places On Earth [Real Talk]!!

gyantimage.jpg

I got one of the funniest emails yesterday from my media brethren Randy Roper. Anyone who is from, or who lives here knows that everything this posts says about this great city is SOHH true. Check it out.

Atlanta is composed mostly of one way streets. The only way to get out of downtown Atlanta is to turn around and start over when you reach Greenville, South Carolina. All directions start with, 'Go down Peachtree.. .' and include the phrase, 'When you see the Waffle House...' Except that in Cobb County, all directions begin with, 'Go to the Big Chicken'.

Peachtree Street has no beginning and no end and is not to be confused with Peachtree Circle, Peachtree Place, Peachtree Lane, Peachtree Road, Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree Run, Peachtree Trace, Peachtree Ave., Peachtree Commons, Peachtree Battle, Peachtree Corners, New Peachtree, Old Peachtree, or Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

Atlantans only know their way to work and their way home. If you ask anyone for directions they will always send you down Peachtree.

Atlantans do not believe in turn signals. You will never see a native signal at a stoplight, to change lanes, or to merge. Never!

Atlanta is home of Coca-Cola. That's all we drink here, so don't ask for any other soft drink . . . unless it's made by Coca Cola. And even then, it's still 'Coke.'

Gate One at Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport is 32 miles away from the Main Concourse so wear sneakers and pack a lunch.
The doors on the trains in the airport do not reopen like an elevator if you stick your hand out. And, they hurt.

It's impossible to go around a block and wind up on the street you started on. The Chamber of Commerce calls it a 'scenic drive' and has posted signs to that effect so that out-of-towners don't feel lost ... They're just on a 'scenic drive.''

The 8 AM rush hour is from 6:30 to 10:30 AM. The 5:00 PM rush hour is from 3:30 to 7:30 PM. Friday's rush hour starts Thursday afternoon and lasts through 2:00 PM Sunday.

Reversible lanes are not understood by anybody especially those of us who live here. Stay out of them unless you are looking for a head-on collision.

'Sir' and 'Ma'am' are used by the person speaking to you if there's a remote possibility that you're at least 30 minutes older than they are. 'Sugar' is a more common form of address than 'Miss.' So is 'Sweetpea.' Honey' is always used by Waffle House waitresses.

Ponce de Leon Avenue can only be pronounced by a native, so do not attempt the Spanish pronunciation. People will simply tilt their heads to the right and stare at you. (The Atlanta pronunciation is 'pahnss duh LEE-on.')

The falling of one rain drop causes all drivers to immediately forget all traffic rules; so will daylight savings time, a girl applying eye shadow in the next car, or a flat tire three lanes over. If a single snowflake falls, the city is paralyzed for three days and it's on all the channels as a news flash every 15 minutes for a month. All the grocery stores will be sold out of milk, bread, bottled water, toilet paper, and beer if there is a remote chance of snow, and if it does snow, people will be on the corner selling 'I survived the blizzard' T-shirts.

If you're standing on a corner and a MARTA Bus stops, you're expected to get on and go somewhere.

It is always Smog Alert Day.

Construction on Peachtree Street is a way of life, and a permanent form of entertainment, especially when a water line is tapped and Atlanta's version of Old Faithful erupts. Construction crews aren't doing their job properly unless they close down all lanes except one during rush hour.

Atlantans are very proud of our racetrack, known as Road Atlanta. It winds throughout the city on the Interstates, hence its name. Actually, I-285, the loop that encircles Atlanta and has a posted speed limit of 55 mph (but you have to maintain 80 mph just to keep from getting run over), is known to truckers as 'The Watermelon 500.' Georgia 400 is our equivalent of the Autobahn. You will rarely see a semi-truck on GA 400, because even the truck drivers are intimidated by the oversized SUV-wielding housewives racing home after a grueling day at the salon or the tennis match to meet their children at the school bus coming home from the college prep pre-school.

The pollen count is off the national scale for unhealthy which starts at 120. Atlanta is usually in the 2,000 to 4,000 range. All roads, vehicles, houses, etc., are yellow from March 28th to July 15th. If you have any allergies you will die.

Hey, but other than that, it's a great place to live!

This is the realest sh*t I have ever heard. Y'all copy this and pass it on to your friends.

Suspects Arrested In The Murder Case Of T.I.'s Friend! Plus, Willy NorthPole Release's "Body Marked Up" Video!

57177452.jpg

Whatever happened to the stop snitchin movement? Isn't it like some strict code of the streetz? Well someone clearly talked to the cops, but thank god they did because T.I. now has some good news. And in the midst of all that's going on with him it's about time.

V103's Ryan Cameron's producer, and friend Marsha sent me this information regarding the shooting that took the life of T.I.'s long-time friend and assistant Philant Johnson. Check out all the details:

According to sources there has been a break in the T.I. ambush in Cincinnati as well as the murder of long time friend and T.I. associate Philant Johnson. According to sources (close to the case speaking on conditions of anonymity to the Ryan Report) the 2 suspects are in custody and a warrant will be served on the alleged triggerman this week. Apparently sources say detectives made an arrest in an unrelated case when the new information was obtained. The motive for the ambush may be over a promoter mistakenly thinking he had T.I. booked for an afterparty only to find out he had been duped by a person who said they could secure an appearance from T.I. When the promoter found out that T.I. was at another party he went to the scene with other individuals and waited for T.I. to leave the club, where set up cut off vehicles were used to ambush T.I. and members of Grand Hustle the weapons were a 25 caliber pistol and a 9mm handgun used in the shooting. The alleged triggerman should be arrested this week. One of the assailants was apparently hit in the shootout between T.I.’s security but escaped and avoided detection by crossing state lines to be treated for his gunshot wound.

Wow! This is a great break in the case, and I'm sure even more good news for T.I. and his family. But you know damn well all this is NOT a coincidence. Somebody got arrested, and cut a deal. [This is just my personal opinion].

Let's hope that this news can help heal the pain the Johnson/Harris families are feeling.

But I can't end this post on a somber note...I've been trying to tell you about Willy Northpole and his hot new project. Well the video, which was directed by Artemus Jenkins is finally out.

Who would've thought that Phoenix was SOHH Hood. How do we feel about this video? Personally I luv it.

**BREAKING NEWS*** Polow Da Don Robbed Last Night? Either Way He's OK!

polow_da_don_1_500.jpg

Published reports are swirling that Atlanta producer Polow Da Don was robbed last night at gun point. Check out all the information below.

From what I could ascertain from all the gossip this morning is that Polow was in a recording studio last night working hard like he always does when suddenly four masked gunmen stormed into the studio - and platinum producer Polow Da Don and a group men were forced onto the floor while their money and jewelry was taken.

In an effort to put an end to the frenzy I reached out to Polow moments ago and this is what he told me:

Thanks man.... Mia will send it to you.... I just want my(black) people to get it together.......

Yall heard about the situation last night? "Haha" They thought they came to rob me, but I have heart and I have God shawty... Nah these crack head ass n*ggaz I guess called themselves robbing me, but we robbed them...... I wasn't scared I was mad. I was likes "these dumb ass weak ass n*ggas"..... N*ggas don't get it.... you gone have to shoot me because until then, I don't believe you. I am a MAN.... and 9 times out of 10 a n*gga calling himself a Robba, a Thug or a Gangsta is a cover up for being too weak(weather it be physically, spiritually or mentally) to be a man. It's hard to learn how to be a MAN... Luckily my teacher stuck with me....Thanks Dad, I LOVE YOU!!!!!! Kids..."Do you know where your father is right now?"

Now on the real I cant stress how f*cked up this is. Polow is one of the HARDEST working people in the hip-hop game. But more importantly he's a community leader who constantly gives back to the people of Atlanta. He is from Zone 4, and he wears that with a badge of honor on his chest. His heart is genuine, and for this shameless act to occur is a true testament of just how disappointing man can be to one another. I've walked into a studio and seen Polow asleep on the floor from being up all night working on putting out quality music for everyone to enjoy.

SOHH to cowards that pulled this off. Trust, and believe that your day is coming. What you do WILL come back to you. Period, end of story. But don't think this little incident is keeping Polow Da Don down. Because he also wanted me to let you all know this:

By the way don't let this negativity overshadow the celebration of having the #1 song in the Country....

For those of y'all who aren't aware, he's talking about Usher's new joint with Jeezy [Love In The Club]. Yeap, that's Polow all the way.

New Music From T.I. & Young Jeezy! Plus, Does Block ENT Artist JC Have A Shot In Hell At Making It As An R&B Star?

yjlupeti.jpg

It seems T.I. has been listening to the fans plea for new music, and he's answered their prayers. Thanks to Hannah King for sending this track of Lupe's remix to "Superstar" featuring Young Jeezy, and T.I. Check it out below.

Listen to it and share your thoughts. While I think it's a great song, I'm baffled at why they took so long to release it. Didn't "Superstar" come out in like November? I'm just sayin...

But while you're all mulling over that one.

JC.jpg

I want you to take a listen to Block ENT's newest artists who's coming from the R&B side. The kats name is JC, and from what I hear Block is pushing him independent. Which anyone who's in the business knows what that means. Atlantic decided to pass on signing him. [I'm just assuming this I have no proof of my claim].

Check out his new single with Gorilla Zoe. Does he stand a chance at making it?

It's hard as hell for R&B dudes to do their thing in today's shaky music industry. Especially when you're on a more predominantly hip-hop label. But who knows, maybe he can be that sleeper who can create the slow buzz and then just come out full force.

You know the girl kissing him in the photo is none other then Serious from the Flavor of Love show. Do y'all know that last week she pulled up to UPTOWN on Courtland in a hatchback. No tint on the windows or nothing. Now there isn't anything wrong with hatchbacks. I mean "hey", at least she's driving a car. But I just thought that she would have gotten some money out of being exploited on TV the way she and many other sistas were. I mean wasn't she the fashion model? All that shuckin' and jivin' and she couldnt even get a Honda out of the deal. WOW!

Ludacris The Silent Killer? Plus, Mos Def Defends Michael Vick!

ludacrisCONCERTPIC.jpg

I’m not sure if you have noticed lately but DTP leader Ludacris has been quietly doing the damn thing. I'm starting to look at him as the silent killer because he's murdered damn near every track he's been on. [That's not a slam in case anyone is taking it that way.] On a mainstream level people tend to put T.I. against Luda. Tip calls himself the “King of the South” however Luda did nab the Grammy for “Album of the Year”. But while that argument continues to play out I just thought I’d put you all on to all the Luda tracks that are currently out right now. Check them all out below.

Usher feat. Ludacris â€" “That Girl Right There”

Sean Garrett feat. Ludacris â€" “Grippin' On My Bed”

Chingy Feat Ludacris, and Bobby Valentino â€" “Gimme That”

Shawty Lo, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Young Jeezy â€" “Dey Know” Remix

Lloyd Feat. Ludacris -"How We Do It"

Alicia Keys Feat. Ludacris "Like You'll Never See Me Again"

Though a lot of people have made claims that Luda has gone Hollywood [present company included], it’s evident that he still knows where he comes from. And in its clear who won the “King Of South” battle. I mean really!

Mos Def came to the defense of Michael Vick recently in an interview. Check it out.

I stand by my opinion. I think Michael Vick got what he deserved. I’m a dog lover, and own one myself. Everybody involved deserved what they got. But I know I stand alone in that.

EXCLUSIVE: Killer Mike Is The Perfect Verse Over A Tight Beat![Video]

DSC02227.JPG

Late last week I got a opportunity to check out one of the most illest, and most involved hip-hop philanthropist I know; Killer Mike’s listening session for his upcoming project. Check out the exclusive video I got for you below.

Killer Mike [Bang, Bang, Bang,] is easily one of the most underrated M.C.’s in the game today. With SOHH many mainstream rappers filling the airwaves with misogyny, socially irresponsible lyrics, and just overall bullsh*t. It’s refreshing to hear a member of the hip-hop community, particularly coming out of Atlanta brining us positive songs with a message. But don’t belittle Mike’s music by calling it hip-hop because he will immediately set you straight. He made it very clear to me, and a handful of other invited music fans that his music is “Street-Hop” which I’m assuming is the next best thing. A progression, if you will, of a genre that is becoming mind numbingly dull.

Take a look at the video I snatched below from the event.

As a blogger I hear music on a daily basis from record label executives, A&R reps, myspace kids, etc. But I often time hear the same lackluster beat, with little to no message. As a hip-hop fan I long for artists to kick their knowledge over a tight beat. And as critic Killer always delivers it with flawless execution. A lot of you kids in the game could learn something from him. But the question I want to know is are y’all going to stand up and support a man who’s trying to give you quality street-hop. Killer’s passion is undeniable as his new album I Pledge Alliance To The Grind is a tribute to the city, and a culture that he loves.

Oh, and Shawty Lo make sure you get at him. Why sample when you can give the man the real thing.

Oh, and for all the readers who log in daily to see what I got to say. Well I just got another gig on Atlpics.net. Check me out [Click Here To What I Got Going On]

WTF,Lil' Wayne A Condom Spokesperson, Willy Northpole Video Preview, and Platinum 21 Is About To Be Poppin!!

wayne-strapped-ad.jpg

It seems that one of the South's favorite rappers Lil Wayne has forgone his efforts to get sober [y’all know he’s on something, don’t front] to focus his attention on promoting safe sex. Check out the article below.

Lil' Wayne has agreed to appear in a series of public service announcements for Houston mogul J-Prince’s Strapped Condoms. Launched by the Rap-A-Lot Records founder in 2005, Strapped has embarked on a campaign to educate youth in identifying high risk behavior patterns that contribute to the continuous spread of HIV & sexually transmitted diseases. “In the midst of this crisis where HIV & AIDS is the #1 killer where our race of people is concerned, I salute Lil Wayne as an authority figure for taking a stand to inform our people to use Strapped Condoms & to Stay Strapped for Life,” J-Prince said in a statement announcing the effort. The campaign will consist of ads and PSAs targeting youth between the ages of 18-24.
Source

While I think that any promotion for safe sex is a great step forward. Is Lil' Wayne the best person for this job? I mean he’s always in ATL. Everybody loves the music, but I’m worried that him promoting safe sex will fall on deaf ears because of all the other sh*t that surrounds this dude.

Fellas speak up. Do you feel like going to your local convenience store to grab a pack of “Strapped” condoms?

Moving Right Along…

Shout out to AJ Dixon over at Disturbing Tha Peace for sending me over these exclusive shots from the set of Willy Northpole’s new video which I will have [I’m told] next week for y’all. As I’ve previously stated I have had a chance to check this video out. And I think everyone’s going to be shocked when they see it. Willy is going to be that artist to look out for this year. And when it happens remember who was telling it to you first.

Oh, and don’t forget where to go and get your party on Monday….

SOHH Gyant Randomness: Why The World Will Always Need The Blogger!!

ROCKO-CLUB.jpg

I just got an email from my boy about Rocko's album release party. And I find it necessary to break down exactly why I will pretty much always have a job. I warn you now it's a lot of reading.

It’s become extremely comical to me how I, along with other bloggers are often times considered to be journalists. While the foundation of journalism and blogging are somewhat identical there is still a very big difference for anyone who is actually inside, or apart of the writing industry between bloggers, and journalists. Journalists usually write with a sense of integrity, and tell a story from an objective stand point. A journalist, particularly in entertainment is pretty much a kiss ass. While a blogger usually just tells it like it is. Or at least by the way they view it. Most bloggers do come from the journalist realm. I personally don’t know any blogger who isn’t an actual published writer on some level. But again, bloggers have their complexities.

Take this article I just got emailed to me by Atlanta’s noted self-proclaimed “Hip-Hop Publicist” P.J. Jackson. His story is a review on Rocko’s album release party that recently just came to pass. When I saw the subject of the email I knew I had to read the article in its entirety. Check out P.J.’s rundown of that evening.

As the crowd ensued in a huge spectacle, industry professional came out to show love to Island Urban Records artist Rocko at his private listening party in Atlanta, GA at the famous Slice Pizzeria. Coming off an extreme high after bringing a newborn baby into their world, he packs the house at one of Atlanta’s premier industry hang-out to standing room only.

Since the crowd was growing to an unbelievable capacity, what better time for Rocko’s management to begin playing selected tracks from the album "Self Made"... Not only do the fans, DJ and industry tastemakers seem to enjoy the album but Rocko received enormous support from the labelmates. Jermaine Dupri packed up the So So Def promotional van and parked it right in front of the pizzeria causing a mass hysteria along the castle-berry housing district.

Industry professionals that decided to show up included Miss Shaneka Hot 107.9 "Mouth of the South", Publicist Tahira Wright ,Tiffany G, Nicole Garner, industry executives from Jive Records, Princess (Crime Mobb), Willy NorthPole of DTP Records and the DTP Family, Collipark Music, So So Def family, Radio One executives, DJ Crews like The Aphilliates, World Famous were among the crowd to name a few.

Now by reading this article what is to be assumed? My interpretation is that Rocko’s album release party was one of the most happening events of the month. I’d also assume that Rocko was in the building for his own party by the intentional omission of his absence.

Now take a look, in case you missed it, at what I wrote about the party:

At about 9:50 P.M.last night my phone was blowing up crazy from angry peeps over Rocko's apparent no show at his Atlanta listening party. How you pass up a chance to show your face in the city your album really only has a shot of making any money in is beyond me. I unfortunately couldn't make it to the event. I chose to kick it at the new Brazilian restaurant called Chima located in Buckhead. And it's a good thing that I didn't pass up the VIP opportunity because if I had, and Rocko would have pulled that "Hollywood" bullsh*t on my watch. I would have let him HAVE it on the blog.

But from what I hear Slice, yes you read it right the pizza parlor in Castleberry, was PACKED with industry heads, and fans all coming to show support. Let's hope that he's got a good ass excuse for sticking you guys up.

As you can see my write up was a little bite more blatant, and to the point. Make no mistake of my intention. P.J. along with a ton of other journalists has my ultimate respect. The way they can keep their personal opinion out of a story is truly admirable. However, by looking at articles like these it’s no surprise to me why bloggers, and blog sites are crippling publications. Take SOHH Atlanta for instance. I am an ass. I’m rude. I can be down right nasty with my commentary. But one of the reasons why I know my popularity will continue to grow, and why I have gotten so far in my three year blogging career is because I keep it real..ALWAYS! If its good I will give you your props. If it was lame I will hand your ass in word form.

Now whether this event was the best party on earth is a moot point. However, what I want you all to do is just to take in how watered down an article can become when you have people [editors, sponsors, and even the artist themselves] breathing down your neck to make them, and their event look good.

This is why I know bloggers ain't going nowhere anytime soon.

Usher May Have Been Down But He's Not Out! Plus, Bangladesh, And Willy Northpole Know How To Party Just Check The Pics!

usherandtamekatietheknot.jpg

Well I'll be dammed. Look who came out of nowhere to claim the top spot this week on Billboard?

A couple of weeks ago I had questioned the validity of Atlanta pop star Usher's career. After several leaks that didn't catch on like his tracks of the past had I'd assumed that you guys, the fans, were completely turned off by all the singers high-octane antics as of late. But, it seems that you guys aren't over him just yet because "...In This Club" has just claimed the number one spot on Billboard's Hot 100, as well as itunes.

That's a good look right there no matter how you choose to look at it. The track which was produced by well known Atlanta producer, who by the way is a far cry from the buffed image that many of you see on the internet, Polow Da Don. Polow's been eating good y'all a little too good. Anyway the track which was produced by Polow and that features CTE [Coporate Thugz Entertainment] leader Young Jeezy is apparently blazing the radio waves.

The talent coming out of the ATL is just undeniable. Even my hatin ass can't say ish about this.
Either way it's a good look all around.

And, Speaking Of Undeniable Talent...

GyantLudaandfrends.jpg

Saturday night I attended a private party for hit making producer Bangladesh, and Disturbing Tha Peace recording artist, Willy Northpole. The party was held at a private residence in College Park. Now I know I throw grease, although some would say grits, at damn near every hip-hop star from time to time, but I will say one thing, most celebs I run into are usually pretty cool no matter what I write about them. I can’t think of one bad situation I’ve had other then someone snubbing me for an interview request [insert Janet Jackson here]. Maybe it’s because I tower over most and they suddenly realize it’s just not that serious.

GyantLudaBanladeshWillyJPEG.jpg

Well anyway as previously mentioned Willy NP, Bangladesh, hosted the party. But notable Atlanta natives like Chaka Zulu, Ludacris and Diamond [formerly of Crime Mob] dropped by to show their luv. It seems that Luda has all but forgotten about my inappropriate red carpet antics of the past because as you can see we took a photo together. But Diamond on the other hand is still ticked. I won’t go into detail because first of all it’s petty, and second of all WHO THE HELL CARES ANYMORE? But let’s just see what she does on the solo tip.

But I’m telling you all now there is one dude everybody needs to be checking for in 2008. And that’s none other then Willy Northpole. Don’t let the slightly odd name fool you. I think this kat is about to do something serious in the game. Who would’ve thought that Arizona had viable hip-hop talent? Call me ignorant but the notion never occurred to me. I got an exclusive first look at dude’s new video and I’m telling you now….the ish is HOT! I’m going to set some things up with dude in the coming months so be on the look out in the future.

Check out some exclusive pictures below that you won’t find anywhere else.

Major shout out to celebrity photographer Hannibal Matthews for the exclusive pictures. Y’all be sure to check out his >>>>>website here<<<.

Special shout out to Tiffany, Tahira, Bangladesh, and Willy for allowing me to post the private photos on SOHH Atlanta.

T.I. Trying His Hand At Reality TV!

ti.jpg

It appears that T.I. is still trying to make some moves, no matter how little, while he awaits his fate on the pending illegal gun charges. He apparently is about to produce his own reality show.

According to several hip-hop sites, the King has just signed on to Executive Produce reality show based on the life of Los Angeles based artist Mars titled Life On Mars. Apparently Mars is "that dude" who's crafted joints for Jay-Z, Chris Brown, Lil' Wayne, Snoop Dogg, The Game and Young Dro, among others.

Mar's story is quite compelling. He was kicked out of his father house as a teenager after choosing to devote his life to music rather than the Lord [his father is a preacher]. Life On Mars will capture the now 22 year old beat maker as he handles being pressured to be a part of his father’s church while trying to juggle making hits for various big name artists. The show has received rave reviews and is currently being shopped to different networks.

Congrats to Mars! It's good that we got some quality television coming to the airwaves. But I'm going to need for T.I. to stop bullsh*ting us around and get to work on his very own reality show. Now, that would be must see T.V.

Should JD Give The You Tube Videos A Rest? Janet Praises JD For His Openess, + Rocko A No Show At His Own Party?

jermaine-dupri.gif

You know at first when Jermaine Dupri used to cut videos of himself doing the everyday stuff they were kind of interesting, and intriguing to take in. But it seems like now there's a new video every week. And whether it's a good, or bad thing has yet to be decided. But here's another one of JD showing us all why there is one and only Jermaine Dupri.

Personally I think it takes away a piece of your interest if your fans have THAT much access to you all the time. Imagine if T.I. did the same thing, would we care after a month? JD reads this blog often so tell em what you think. Is it lame? Or should he keep them coming?

But what's up with this interview going around about JD calling one of Janet's male friends Keisha? As many of you know Janet is apart of Atlanta now since she's been linked with the ambassador of Atlanta for over 7 years now. And I'm sure it's also no big surprise that this time around Janet wasn't giving many interviews to black media this time around with her new CD. However one of my very good friends, and noted journalist Clay Cane got a chance to sit down with JD's girl and in their revealing conversation it seems that JD is cool with ALL of J's friends even some guy named Keisha.

How does your man, Jermaine Dupri, react to the gay boys around you?

He doesn't. We're all friends. As a matter of fact, it's so cute because we all call Gil "Keisha." It's a pet name. Jermaine calls him "Keisha," too, and it startled Gil because he had never done it before. It's just cute to see. Are you asking because Jermaine's in the hip-hop world?

Exactly.

It's just another friend with Jermaine. He loves Gil just as much as I do. I've heard people talk a little bit about that, but that doesn't apply when it comes to Jermaine. He's very comfortable with all my friends, and they've become his friends as well.

Source

Jermaine just got some extra cool points from me. I'm a big advocate for the old saying "live, and let live".

Oh, and btw my boy Fred at meditakeout.com reported earlier this week that Jermaine was rumored to be going blind after a recent botched eye surgery. Well by the looks of the video it seems that things are all good with dudes eyes.

DTP Will Stay At Def Jam. But I'm Still Hearing There's A Shakeup Going On!!

Ludacris_CL_A9_55_Hires_400.jpg

Late last week I touched on a rumor that was feverishly spreading around the internet. I had heard that there was a shake up that was imminent at Ludacris' Disturbing The Peace Records imprint. First I had heard that the R&B acts got cut. Then I had heard that DTP was going to sever ties with Def Jam and take their artists over to Columbia. Then I heard that nothing was going to be finalized until this week. Well, I just got a press release from Jana Fleishman the PR chick for Def Jam and apparently things are OK…well kind of.

LUDACRIS AND ISLAND DEF JAM MUSIC GROUP SIGN NEW LONG-TERM JOINT VENTURE PARTNERSHIP FOR HIS DISTURBING THA PEACE LABEL
(March 3, 2008 â€" New York, NY) Island Def Jam Music Group (IDJ) has signed a new long-term extension with Ludacris for his Disturbing Tha Peace label, it was jointly announced today by Antonio "L.A." Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group, and the three principals of the Atlanta-based Disturbing Tha Peace label: Ludacris (aka Chris Bridges), Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon. "The Atlanta hip-hop scene and the Dirty South movement in general owe more than they can ever repay to Chris," said Mr. Reid. "Our friendship stretches back more than a decade and I never cease to be amazed at his imagination, creativity, and most of all his outrageous sense of humor. Now changing business conditions necessitate that we review our respective rosters and focus to ensure that future opportunities and challenges are aggressively achieved. Ludacris has built Disturbing Tha Peace into one of the iconic names in hip-hop, one that will remain an important part of the Island Def Jam family."

First off I know that I am no one to talk, but I am going to need a major record label to check their press releases for grammatical errors. Fragmented sentences in press releases stick out like a sore thumb. Secondly, if you’re business savvy then you know that this press release basically says that’s that though DTP has extended their stay at Def Jam, the label is about to experience a shake up. “Now [in] changing business conditions necessitate that we review our respective rosters and focus to ensure that future opportunities and challenges are aggressively achieved.”

Layman’s terms; artists are about to get dropped. And though it’s unfortunate, I feel very comfortable confirming that yes, all R&B acts like Bobby, Shareefa, and Steph Jones are OUT! But I truly hope that each artist doesn’t look at this as a huge loss. T.I. was dropped by La Face Records back in the day, and went on to be Atlantic Records top selling artist. Sometimes labels just miss the mark. I’ve said it once, and I will say it again. Bobby already has his fan base. He can take his campaign online to myspace, youtube, and itunes and still make money. Sh*t, Def Jam didn’t promote his ass anyway.

Aphiliates Don Cannon Working A New Album? Plus Come Get Your Party On At @ Platinum 21 With Rich Boy,Big El & Don Cannon Tonight!!

cannonmyspace.jpg

It seems that Aphiliates member DJ Don Cannon has been keeping a relatively low profile ever since the highly publicized arrest occurred last year. But just because he's been out of sight it appears that he most certainly hasn't been out of mind. My media chick Tai St. Louis caught up with the towering DJ to see what's going on with his new album. But tell me this, is anyone checking for Don Cannon like that?

Check out what he told Tai:

“I’m just gonna lock it in, like on some Dr. Dre s***: no showers, no food, just music,” jokes Cannon. “I’m gonna do half the album in Atlanta; do a couple of joints in Philly to capture that back home feeling. And I’m gonna do the rest of the album in LA.”

Fans can expect appearances by T.I., Lil’ Wayne, Ludacris and Young Jeezy, with whom Cannon scored the 2005 summer hit “Go Crazy.”

Cannon will also use the album to showcase up-and-coming talent, including Aphilliates Music Group artists Willie The Kid and Detroit Red.

“I’m gonna do an A-Town record with all the cats who are hot in Atlanta right now: Rocko, P$C, etc.,” Cannon tells AllHipHop.com. “Then I’m gonna do a Philly record later this year with all the hot artists in Philly. I got a couple other hot song concepts too.”

It's funny to hear that Cannon address Rocko as someone who's "hot" in Atlanta right now. While I will not hate on Rock's efforts, I dont think I'd go on a limb to say that he's HOT. He had some interest with "Umma Do Me", however he seems to be having a little trouble finding that niche fan base.

But maybe that's just me. All in all I want Cannon to give me some hot ish to bump to in my iPod PRONTO TINTO!

Y'all know I try my best to keep you abreast of all the hot events popping off in the city. Check And today is no different. Check out the flyer.

Oh, and for the Rocko groupies out there he's having a listening session tomorrow[Tuesday, March 4] in the downtown ATL area. The event is private, but that's never stopped the die hards before. I will be up in the piece if I just figure out how to be two places at once. But here is some video from Rock's NYC listening party.

Blog Hall Meeting: Have We Gone Too Far With Our "Lil's" & Our "Young's"?

Project1.jpg

The argument has been made on more than one occasion, but Erik Parker, along with a bunch of his celebrity friends like Diamond, Princess, David Banner and Killer Mike have decided to bring the issue to the forefront. Do we have too many “Lil’s, and Youngs” in the rap game? Check out their take on the issue below.

This video raises an interesting topic. How old do you have to be before you are no longer considered young? Can Young Jeezy still be “Young” at 40. And can Soulja Boy still be a “boy” at age 26? I think the best approach you can take when choosing a name is to go for one that’s timeless.

But hey, what the hell do I know right?

Lil’s vs.Young's in the comment section. And, GO!
