Last night I got the chance to attend one of Atlanta’s most popular MC’s, Young Jeezy at a private affair to witness him change a fans life forever.
In case you weren’t aware the prolific rapper held a nationwide “Make Your Dreams Come True" contest. The challenge invited fans to share their dreams, with one winner to be selected. Well, that winner was chosen last night. And, thanks to Jeezy, along with his CTE team’s tireless efforts Tamara Jenkins-Wilson of North Carolina, mother of a disabled 13-year-old boy was selected.
Here is a snippet of her moving letter that was sent in:
"My ultimate dream would be for me to provide a Wheelchair Accessible Van for my son, Davon Jenkins. Davon is 13-years-old and has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair."
Davon Jenkins [AKA Speedy] suffers from the crippling illness cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. His father is presently serving in Iraq in the military which has resulted in Mrs. Jenkins-Wilson having to physically lift her son day after day.
Jeezy flew members of Jenkins-Wilson’s family to Atlanta where he joined members of his own family for the special dinner and presentation at Justin’s restaurant. The maroon Dodge Caravan brought tears to Speedy’s mothers eyes, as Jeezy handed over the key. They were also given apparel from Jeezy’s clothing line 8732
Now I know I have talked A LOT of smack about Jeezy in the past, however his generosity in this instance has made him, in my eyes, a real stand up dude. After the official unveiling occurred I was invited to have dinner with Young Jeezy, his team, and the winning family. And to observe the hard working rapper interacting with his new found friends throughout the evening was definitely a good look.
Too bad the evening was almost spoiled by the slow staff at Justin’s restaurant. Maybe it’s just me, but is it customary to wait around for the good part of an hour for a damn sweet tea refill? And don’t even get me started on the wait for the food. Puffy, I'm going to need you to do something about that Pronto Tinto! And how does Justin's run out of Ciroc Vodka does that even make any damn sense?

Oh, and for all you Jeezy fans out there I tried to get some information about Jeezy's upcoming project, but the only thing I could seem to get out of anybody was two simple words, "coming soon". And no Keyshia was not in the building.

Jeezy's group purchased the van from R&R Mobility in Conyers, GA. R&R also has a place in Buford, GA, near Mall of GA. This was an awesome cause and R&R helps out hundreds of folks each year with wheelchair accessible vans. Go to www.rrvan.com and check them out!
