December 2007 Archives

If you live in Atlanta then I’m sure you are aware that celebrity trainer Darius Miller was severely beaten by a group of men and is in a coma at Emory Crawford Long Hospital. But it’s what transpiring after the fact that's got me scratching my head.

What an amazing, and might I add shocking year it has been for the south this year. We’ve watched the “King” descend from hip-hop royalty. We’ve seen a preacher get himself caught up in a Transvestite scandal. Bow Wow has proven many times this year that his bite is not half as bad as his bark. And everyone is still dealing with the unfortunate passing of one half of UGK, Pimp C. But year-end is rapidly approaching and its time to onward to a prosperous year. But not before we take a look back at this year’s most shocking moments in Atlanta.

This is my year in review for one of the best years, or worse, [depends on how you choose to look at it] for 2007.

Here's Ciara's new video. Check it out below.

It looks like instead of T.I. using his current house arrest sentence to reflect on seriousness of his situation he’s using his time wisely by decorating Christmas trees. In his now second video to his fans, the “King” is seen reassuring everyone that he’s doing well and that nobody should worry about him. But I wonder, do these upbeat videos help or hurt him in the eyes of public opinion?

Open Letter To Ludacris..

Anyone who reads SOHH Atlanta regularly knows that I have a “Go Hard Or Go Home” mentality to all interviews and media events. However I can personally acknowledge that I may have gone a little bit too far this weekend as it relates to Ludacris and his foundation. And I think it’s only right to apologize.

Nigel over at Realtalkny.com scored an exclusive interview with Bow Wow explaining the BET debacle from last week. Watch what he had to say regarding the matter below.

As many of you know by now the Holidays tends to bring out the giving nature within people. And, it seems that hip-hop artists haven’t disappointed us this year with their respective food and toy drives. However, since this is SOHH Atlanta you know I got to focus on what Atlanta rappers are doing. Jeezy’s done his part; T.I. is doing what he can given his current circumstances. And now Ludacris, along with his foundation is reaching out their arms to show love to today’s youth. Check out the video below.

For all y’all who think that Atlanta isn’t crunk enough or is an overall lame city with no edge. I think you’d be interested in knowing that Atlanta has just achieved quite an accomplishment. According to various media sources, for the first time in history the city of Atlanta has been ranked number one for...BANK ROBBERIES. That’s right people, now instead of boasting about the booming rap scene we can now all marvel in the fact that there is just as much desperation ala Bonnie & Clyde right here too.

The news that I am about to share comes as absolutely no shock to me whatsoever. I've been talking about T.I., the current state of his business dealings [Grand Hustle], as well as his almost certain prison sentencing. Well, suddenly a new report has emerged that pretty much confirms what I already knew. Check out more below.

Last night I stopped by Young Jeezy's private charity dinner that was held at popular eatery, Justins. Jeezy's got a holiday mission to provide a little holiday cheer to those who are less fortunate. SOHH previously reported that he and his CTE team are throwing a weekly event called, ""1,000 Toys for 1,000 Kids". Jeezy, along with Shaquille Oneal, Dwayne Wade, Ray J and a host of others all came out last night to show their support. Check out my pictures from the event.

I got a special "Poppin or Floppin" audio track for y'all today. Y'all know we can talk about hip-hop - day in and day out - but this dude right here is the truth. While many know Steph Jones face [he was a video model for a while a few years back] not many know his unique eclectic sound. I had a chance to meet Steph almost six months ago and he told me that when he was ready musically he was going to get at me. Well the man kept true to his word and sent me over some hot ish that I want you all to hear.

Here we go again people. It seems that T.I. is rhyming his ass off while under house arrest. And apparently he’s gunning for his "frienemy" Ludacris. Check out the diss record below.

What you're about to watch is a clip of just how disrespectful and lame Bow Wow has become. In a recent interview with BET's most notable, and might I add most respected journalist, Toure, Bow Wow seems to show us all that he's still a little boy in a man's world. Watch the shameless video below.

Unless you were out of town or just decided to stay home all weekend you had to have known that this was Diddy's weekend in Atlanta. The hip-hop mogul was EVERYWHERE!!. His stepson, Quincy had his MTV “Sweet 16” party at an undisclosed location (and mind you, I knew where it was but that venue gets no love on SOHH Atlanta). Diddy also had a surprise Birthday party for his jumpoff/girlfriend/baby’s momma â€" Kim Porter at Luckies. Check below for some exclusive pictures. Plus, we all got to talk about T.I. But more on him later.

For everyone who bitches about the "death of hip-hop" then this post is for you. Rap duo, Proton, are slowly making their mark on the game. Could they be the next pioneering group to come out the A? Check out my exclusive interview with them below to find out.

LUPEFIASCOTHECOOL.jpg

Monday night I got the chance to listen to Lupe Fiasco’s new album, The Cool, at a private listening session hosted by the uniquely square M.C. at Atlanta’s Biltmore Hotel. Check out my review below. What’s hating ass Gyant got to say? Well check it out. You might be surprised.

Yesterday started off like any other day. That was until I got an email from Carl Cherry over at BET.com informing me of some exciting news. I've been chosen as one of the top five writers in hip-hop.

Monica's baby daddy's new video has dropped. So you know what that means, it's time for another edition of "Poppin or Floppin"

dirtroaddon.jpg

Lil Wayne is coming under fire for a few off the wall comments that he made in hip-hop publication, Ozone Magazine. I ran a post on the cover completely unaware of his outlandish rant(s). But after reading, friend in my head, Charlamage The God's, commentary on the matter. I thought it appropriate to share his perspective with all of you.

masterp.jpg

Master P has seemingly turned alot of people off in hip-hop by attempting to challenge rap to clean up its act. Well check out the new video that he just released. Is he a hypocrite or just a misguided soul?

bow-wow-drinking1.jpg

It looks like there is trouble on the horizon with Bow Wow's new CD which just so happened to hit stores today. Take a look at what happens when people stop being polite and start getting really desperate to get media attention.

DSC01454.JPG

As many of you know SOHH Atlanta has been down for some time now. I could bore you with the technicalities of it all but what purpose would that serve? Just know that everything is back up and running. And just because the site was down doesn't mean I still haven't been working my ass off for you guys. Check out my recap of all the parties below.

pimpc.jpg

As many of you know by now Pimp C. was found dead in a hotel on the Sunset Strip in California last week. As tragic and unfortunate as his untimely death was, it's what’s happening after his death that’s making me look at hip-hop with a crooked eye.

Gucci%20Mane.jpg

Sigh. At times Atlantic Records, much like most record labels, just disgust me. Check out the artwork for Gucci Mane's new album "Back To The Traphouse".

DSC01403.JPG

For all those who might not know DJ Toomp's name. You will know his music.

tip-rap-up.jpg

I’ve said it once and I will say it again. If this is what it means to be on house arrest then sign me the hell up. With digs like this, isn’t T.I. showing everybody how he’s really living.

dec2007.jpg

Shout out to my boy Randy Roper over at Ozone for putting me on to the hip-hop publications 5th annual "Sex Issue". Check out some audio links below from Big Kuntry, Lil Wayne, and Ray J.

The Ipod King, AKA Mr. Thanksgiving, AKA Mr. Gangsta Grillz, AKA Dramatic, Barrack O. Drama, AKA Mr. Game 7, AKA The Cassette Creas held a private listening session last night at Justin’s restaurant and guess who got the a special invite, none other then yours truly. On the heels of his new album “Gangsta Grillz” drooping tomorrow. I finally got around to listening to it late last night. Check out what I thought about it below.

I already told you all last week about my red carpet run in with Playaz Circle. Well, I can now show you better then I could have ever told you. Check out the exclusive video below.
