Where Is The Love For Soulja Boy??

sbtemmem.jpg

After three weeks on the charts Soulja Boy’s debut CD, souljaboytellem.com, has failed to reach platinum status. Hell if I’m being honest it hasn’t even reached gold status just yet either. Although I wasn’t a fan (not really, sorry Collipark) I thought that all the kids would go and cop that disc. So what happened?

music_brief1-1_25.jpg

Who would have thought that Gucci Mane had enough star power to obtain not one, but two popular rappers on his “Freaky Gurl” Remix? I selected it for this week’s “Poppin or Floppin” audio of the week.

DTP’s Playaz Circle is about to drop their anticipated debut album, Supply and Demand, soon. And since y’all know SOHH Soulman and myself always churn out the exclusives I thought I would give all the SOHH Atlanta readers a peek into the lives of the “Duffle Bag” duo.

Well look who done went and got himself arrested for driving under the influence?

WAYNEANDTO.jpg

This has to be the biggest, and boldest move in hip-hop's current history. What you're looking at is the artwork for DJ Rah2k's "Lil Wayne - The Real King of The South" mixtape. As you can plainly see the artwork depicts T.I. in the back of a squad car while Weey F. Baby laughs on.

SOHH Atlanta is all over the place today. I'm covering many topics. What can I say, there's not much going on now that T.I. is Out...

gwatl.jpg

I know with T.I. getting released from jail late Friday afternoon, a lot of people may not be aware that Genarlow Wilson was also released from a state prison the very same day. I wasn’t in Atlanta when the initial situation went down. But I know this issue remains a constant discussion, so I just thought I would let everyone know. Check your local paper for all the details. But I think a “congratulations” is most certainly in order for the newly freed Wilson.

My Experience At The "Racist Room"!!!

Last night “pop sensation,” Ciara, touched down in Atlanta to promote her highly publicized “Birthday Tour.” You know, that mundane event thrown by celebrities where they charge you as a fan money to come and celebrate with them â€" but they almost always stay in their tightly guarded VIP area and you realize you’ve just spent your hard earned money to stare at them as if they were in a fishbowl?

Well, against my better judgment I decided to go… and unfortunately, for them, I don’t have the news I think they, and you might I add, were all hoping for.

DSC01050.JPG

As I'm sure you already know T.I. was granted his house arrest today. I stopped by the courthouse to see if I could catch any drama TMZ style. But the crowd was pretty sedated as everyone just waited to hear Judge Alan Baverman's decision. Check out the video I got of the Grand Hustle family leaving the courtroom.

DSC01043.JPG

As many people from this great city already know Atlanta has a lot of extremely talented people who consistently pump out the hits for most of today's hottest artists. Some are more well known then others. But there is one songwriter/producer who's attempting to get his name out there on an even broader scale and his name is Adonis.

I got the opportunity to sit down with the musical phenomenon last night at private recording studio at the 11th Street Studios. Check out the video segment(s) below. I even ran into R&B singer Lloyd... but more on him later.

jermaine-dupri.gif

Am I the only one who is a little confused with what Jermaine Durpi actually does over at Island Def Jam? Well thanks to my boy, Carl Chery, Senior Music Producer over at BET.com, we can all stop scratching our heads because he went and got the break down from the hit making machine. Jermaine spoke very candidly about his responsibilities at the pioneering music company and also gives away some information regarding Jay-Z's current project.

Does Jay-Z and J.D. in fact have beef? Find out below.

ti1.jpg

Tomorrow is the day when we will all find out if one of the world's most popular rappers will achieve the act of freedom. I will be in the courtroom again tomorrow to bring you all a first hand account of what judge Alan Baverman decides. Check out a refresher video below to catch up on the legal drama that the "King" is to face.

seriusjonesmainih0.jpg

I ran into fan favorite, Serius Jones, at last weekends BET Hip-Hop Awards. He checked in with Gyant to explain why he's choosing to rep Disturbing Tha Peace records. Watch my exclusive video below.

ticomplex.jpg

You just got to love the timing of this interview. As you can see T.I. graces the cover of Complex Magazine's November edition, and in his most recent interview, the self-proclaimed "King Of The South" wastes no time throwing grease. But it's one person he's talking greasy about in particular that interests me. Read below to find out who.

waynepcvideo.jpg

For all my Wayne fanatics out there - has anyone ever wondered what the hell Weezy F. Baby carries around in that damn white cup he's always sipping out of? As EVERYONE in Atlanta knows Wayne rolls through the ATL a whole hell of alot. He's always doing a concert, or chillin up in someone's event like he's T.I. or something. Well my homie, and brother in the business who is a writer for the Atlanta based hip-hop publication "Ozone Magazine" Randy Roper, has a pretty good idea. Check out his theory below.

BETAWARDS2007.jpg

Isn’t it funny how this years BET Hip-Hop Awards came and went and nobody seemed to give a damn? Well my girl, Truth Hurts, has sent me over her fashion “hautes or naught's” from the awards show. And I also put together a blooper reel of Gyant in action on the red carpet. Check it out below. The sh*t is hilarious.

lilwayne.jpg

It looks like Wayne has put his middle finger in the air and waved it in the faces of a North Carolina high school. According to TMZ.com, Wayne was a no show leaving an auditorium of kids without a show. Read more below:

t-pain.jpg

T-Pain has dropped his third single. And interestingly enough its called something that I just don't see when I look at the synthesized "vocalist" (If you pay close enough attention you can always catch Gyant's reads) -- "Church". But none the less thats what it's called so I am posting it so you all to tell the world...Is it "Poppin Or Floppin?"

jermaine400cs0524.jpg

I’ve got to say that I am very surprised by what I read regarding rap mogul, Jermaine Dupri’s, opinion of T.I. and his impending court case[s].

Most entertainers, particularly in Atlanta, have this unspoken code of political correctness when it comes to the tiniest hint of scandal or controversy. But apparently not every entertainer has received -- or chooses to abide -- by that code of conduct. Check out what J.D. had to say when BET.com asked his opinion regarding the “Kings” alleged criminal affairs.

mikevick-whtcap.jpg

Yo, if you think you got problems I encourage you to look at Micheal Vick or T.I.'s trouble's as of late and I can assure you that you'll see -- you don't. While we are all anxiously waiting the 'King's' fate it seems that Vick's has already been determined. And disgraced NFL player is wasting no time abandoning his assets. First up... his Duluth home.

ti-02_11-22.jpg

I just got home from the courthouse moments ago and after making my phone calls to all my media brethren I can now bring you all, my favorites, the scoop. You know I saved the best scoop for you all. So let’s get into it.

ti.jpg

Are we tired of talking about Clifford yet? No? OK, I will keep the news coming. Word broke yesterday that T.I. is putting together a legal team that reminiscent of O.J.’s dream team. But will it be enough to get him a bond?

Is Grand Hustle Out Of Money??

xtzci.jpg

Is it 5 o'clock yet? OK, so in my earlier post I talked about these two chicken heads. Grand Hustles all female rap duo, Xtaci, have gotten themselves caught up in quite the little controversy. On the heels of their main bread winner, and boss, getting himself locked up on illegal gun charges, it seems that they've decided to reach out to the public in an attempt to get funding for their promotions.

tiandjoc.jpg

As many of you might not know â€" people talk. And this T.I. case is garnering too much heat for the information to stay confidential. I have been in contact with a trusted source who has personally witnessed C.W. attempting to purchase weapons at an Atlanta gun store. I have been getting a lot of information funneled to me through various people who the inability to keep their mouth’s shut (which is great for my line of work). You may have read all the details in the paper, but I can tell you now that you haven’t read this

tiandludacris.jpg

Last week V103 kicked off the BET weekend with a party/concert at Velvet Room. But one performance in particular seemed to have everyone talking. Yet I really can't see why... maybe you can.

BETAWARDS2007.jpg

BET's second annual Hip-Hop Awards air tonight. But y'all know I got some exclusive video previews for you. SOHH was on the red carpet to capture all the nonsense. Check it out below:

In life there come rare opportunities to speak to prolific individuals who have, in their own way, reshaped ideas and had a hand in changing the world for the better. And when it happens you must be prepared to seize the moment. I got the rare opportunity to speak to two of the Jena Six boys -- Carwin Jones and Bryant Purvis. Plus, two very influential civil rights leaders at BET's Hip-Hop Awards this past weekend. Check out the video below. This is something you need to see.

RC37.jpg

Sigh! I just hate it when black people perpetuate the stereotype of ignorance. Yesterday I received various phone calls from people who were inquiring about Katt Williams ridiculous and perhaps socially irresponsible noose he had hanging around his neck. I attended this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards and even chatted it up with the pint sized comedian â€" but I didn’t notice his daring outfit. I don’t know how I missed something so offensive but I did and now I am taking the time to address it.

DSCF0022.JPG

It's clear that most people weren't feeling "Celebrity Chick" and DTP got the memo and have given SOHH Atlanta the exclusive first listen to a new track. Check it out below.

polow2.jpg

Y'all know what it is. Tonight Polow Da Don is throwing the Official BET Afterparty Birthday Bash @ Lotus. Check out below for all the scoop.

tiandjeezy.jpg

Everyone is talking about T.I. now which naturally means that the rumors are getting out of control. While I don’t feel sorry for Clifford Harris Jr. at all about this situation, I don’t want to sit here and let people make a bad situation worse by spreading lies either. So lets separate truth from fiction! Read more below.

** I know everyone is running off at the mouth about T.I. right about now. Stay tuned for my afternoon post where I will be dispelling all the rumors, separating truth from fiction.**

bet.jpg

OK, so the events are over and the BET HHA’s have packed up and gone home. I was on the fence on how I was going to deliver my report to you guys. But at the end of the day â€" I speak my mind good or bad, so get ready and hold your breath because we’re going in….

ti.jpg

It looks like the self proclaimed “King of The South” will now be the king of cell block four. SOHH Atlanta has exclusively learned that Clifford Harris is behind bars for violating his probation. And from what I am hearing he may not be out for a very long time. Check below to find out more.

Oct07AFFLYERFRONT.jpg

There's no sense in stopping the events from continuing just because BET's HHA are tonight. Because Monday Rovella Williams "Almost Famous" showcase will be at the Loft in Midtown. If you're a fan of real music and want to experience some fresh sounds that are tainted by the "machine" of record labels come check it out.

jdparty.jpg

Y’all know this weekend is gonna be crazy in Atlanta, GA. Here is a rundown of all the events â€" public and private. Check out all the happenings below.

BETAWARDS2007.jpg

Boy I tell ya the sh*t I do for you guys amazes even me sometimes. OK, so I got some exclusive BET Award show footage for you that nobody else has. Y’all know how I do when it comes to getting the exclusives. Plus, check below to find out some interesting BET Hip-Hop award information.

5 Questions With Polow Da Don!!

polow.jpg

Atlanta pin-up, Polow Da Don, sat down to talk with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently for a quick question and answer. I found the interview very telling, and thought that I'd post it for you all to check out. Get the scoop below.

wdige.jpg

Last night I got the opportunity to go to an advanced screening of Tyler Perry’s new movie, Why Did I Get Married in Atlantic Station. I enjoyed the movie adaptation so much that I decided to do a write-up on it. It’s not hip-hop, but fellas let's get real for a minute â€" the ladies are definitely going be dragging our asses out to go and see this film this weekend so you might as well have an idea of what your about to take in. Check out my review below.

DEFJAMIMAGE.jpg

Y'all know what it is. Everyone who's anyone is headed down to Atlanta for this weekend's BET Hip-Hop Awards. From tomorrow until Sunday there are going to be nothing but parties and performances. Most events are private (as in invites only) but Def Jam wants to get the community involved and have enlisted alot of todays' top acts to do their thing on stage for you all, the fans. And it's being brought to you all free. Check out details below.

ti_l.jpg

Time for another poppin or floppin video of the week. T.I.'s been laying a low profile on the music scene lately hasn't he? I really haven't heard much from him musically in a minute. Check out the new video below. Plus, Baby D & DJ Unk are trying to capture lighting in a bottle, again. Can they do it?

gfk.jpg

Everybody who reads SOHH Atlanta knows that I try my best to keep you as informed as I possibly can on the hottest events, restaurants, clubs, etc in this city. And once again a concert is poppin off this week, and I got all the information. Ghostface Killah, along with Witchdoctor will be doing their in Atlanta on Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

ALCHOL.jpg

It is my opinion that Atlanta is going to sh*t these days. As many of you know I am a “transplant” that came down to the jewel of the south about a year ago from the Big Apple. To many outsiders, Atlanta is where it’s at for music, fashion, and overall southern influences. But one thing it used to be known for was its booming nightlife. That is until the local governments of the “A” stepped in and shut the sh*t down. Every spot in Fulton County has felt the ripples of the district's 2AM “last call.” But it seemed that most people were cool with it. I mean we would just take our party to Dekalb right? Well not so fast, because Dekalb County is about to shut down the club scene as well.

jdgreatesthits.jpg

I think we all know that Jermaine Durpi is the ambassador of Atlanta. He’s been in the game probably longer then I’ve been alive. He’s worked his magic on Mariah, Brat, Bow Wow and a bunch of others. But can he work his magic on a greatest hits album? While I know some may think that it’s time for him to drop one. I am on the fence. While I can admire and appreciate the musical genius that he is. I’m not sure if he’s really got enough hits to pull it off. Could I be wrong? Check out more below.

superhead.jpg

Superhead touched down in Atlanta on Friday to try and promote her new book of promiscuous tales. I decided to go and check her out, and it seems like I was the only one. Check out how many people came out to her book signing below..

I get tons of emails from people always asking me why I don’t talk about the different hot spots of the city. Usually I’ve tried to keep a certain tone on SOHH Atlanta, but I’m slowly coming around. My first review is on Verve Lounge. Check out the review below.

I decided to go and check out J. Coleman Presents: Clark Atlanta University’s Homecoming concert last night. A lot of people came out to perform, but by the time I got over that way I only caught Freeway and Yung Joc doing their thing on the stage. But you know I got that video for you…check it out below.

ne-yo-tours-grady.jpg

Look, we all know Grady Hospital is serious trouble. They’re over spent, and if the community doesn’t step up to do something quick they might be forced to shut their doors. One of the things that pisses me off about us as a people â€" yes I’m talking about black people â€" is our failure to step in when it’s needed and help our community. For the record, I’m not saying ALL my people. But a lot of us just don’t seem to give two sh*ts if it doesn’t directly involve our own situation. And since a lot of Atlanta’s millionaires are choosing to do nothing, it seems that a “transplant” has stepped in to offer some assistance… and his name is Ne-Yo.

buck.jpg

I ran into Shay AKA Buckeey from Flavor Of Love at the Jeezy event on Sunday and she was definitely in a chatty mood.

A few months ago I pulled a “swoop down” on her on the red carpet, trying to get her to open up about she and Andre 3000’s rumored relationship. She apparently didn’t like me questioning me about that and in fact refused to address it entirely. But I guess the tides are changing because she was all talks about it and here’s what she had to say.

YungJoc-01-big.jpg

I got some last minute homecoming information for you. It's going down tonight at Clark Atlanta University with all of your favorite performers. Get the scoop below.

219-Souljah%2520Boy.jpg

Usually when I post something on Soulja Boy it is always something a lil negative. OK - it's always negative. But I have to stand up and give the lil homie props for keeping his name and that annoying ass song out there bouncing in clubs all across America. And it looks like the "Crank Dat" machine is continuing because he has just dropped a new video...

davidbannercover.jpg

Shout out to Randy over at Writers Block Media for the hot new cover of Ozone magazine. Randy says that in his opinion it’s one of Ozone’s hardest covers ever. And I have to say that I agree with him wholeheartedly. Check out Twista's cover after the jump.

07MediaDay-013.jpg

Listen to Joc setting the record straight about the entire whole medallion controversy. Did he get it snatched or not.

Young Jeezy celebrated his Birthday party part deux last night in the ATL. And against my better judgment, I decided to attend. Sometimes I think your instinct should the only voice you listen to. Check out the good and bad below.
