I want you all to take a look at the email that I just received from former Corporate Thugz Entertainment employee Nick Love regarding the “T.I. Takes A Leak” post.
I first want to address the issues of the leak. I would never have put the link up if I was the first person who was privy to it. The fact of the matter is that the album had been up for 14 hours and was popping up on several hip-hop sites.
At that point it is no longer a question it’s more of exclamation point. I knew what needed to be done and I did it. I brought my audience something I knew EVERYBODY wanted.
And I try to give y’all exactly what you want...
But what is very disturbing to me is the email I got which states the following:
Wow!!! Posting the link to Tip's album, my dude? FOUL!!! You might've crossed the line with that one. If some random blogger had done that in the comment section, that would've been one thing. But, to have a representative of a HIP-HOP website do it, is all together something else.Gyant, its one thing to do your job (a job that draws the contempt of a lot of people, especially the ones that end up in bold print in your Blogs) but to actually support the leak of an album. . . .This reflects badly on you and SOHH.
I would suggest that you reach out to them over at GH and apologize before this thing blows up and you have TI and TIP putting hands on you.

Listen I new of the album being up since yesterday afternoon and had already made my position. I wasnt going to post it. But after seeing it up at alot of places. I couldnt be stupid about it.
At the end of the day this job is more mentally draining then anything. On one hand you want to be hot with your content to get everybody talking about your shit. But on the other you might have to say or do things that people might not agree with. I write for myself, thats it. I give you all as a writer what I would want to see as a reader. Im an acquired taste, but at the end of the day hip-hop needs people like me.
I make it interesting and Im dont do fluff reporting.

Any highly anticipated album is going to be leaked and the powers that be at Atlantic and Grand Hustle could care less because the same individual who is going to download the leaked album wasn't going to get it in stores anyway they were going to download it or burn it or buy it bootleg. The download just creates a buzz and gets everybody talking about the album and then TI just happens to punch Chaka a DTP/Def Jam executive a few days before he's performs at the BET Awards...WOW that's just more fuel to add to the fire...the results he'll be number 1 on billboard first week whether the album sucks or not cause HYPE is the new hip hop. Let's just hope TI's probation officer doesn't get involved.

First, if I wanted my correspondence with you to be on the site, I would've posted my comment on the site. I actually called you first before I sent that email. If you wanted to chop it up about the comments I made (which I definitely stand behind) you could've called me.
Second, cuz, there's no way you truly believe this was cool. This wasn't your usual "I don't like him" or "his music sucks" type thing. I'm actually a fan of your blog. I read it daily and think its quite entertaining. However, you stepped over the "this is my opinion" line when you posted that link.
I don't work for GH nor do I have any vested interest in whether TI's album sells or not. I responded the way I did as a fan and supporter of hip hop and as someone who feeds their family off of this music and culture. When a site (or a site's employee) that's supposed to be, to a certain extent, an advocate of hip hop assists in the leaking of an album (which we know is going to lead to declined sales, decreased revenue, etc), how should I respond???

I understand your stance, Gyant, but I feel that leaking the album is detrimental to hip hop as a whole.
Albums sells are already "in the tank" and to leak an album and aid this problem doesn't help the up-and-coming rapper who will not be able to receive financing.
Sure, T.I./T.I.P. may have the hottest album ever made (speaking hypothetically), but if EVERYONE got a leaked copy of it and he only sells 2-3 million copies when it was expected that he would sell 5-6 million, then the big wigs will say, "Well, why should we invest in you when we barely recouped on a superstar like T.I."?
Overall, I think it hurt the game. I definitely understand and find your stance admirable (giving the fans what they want), but in the bigger picture, I think it hurt(s) the game.
Now, why Nick Love felt the need to "ride" for T.I. and warn you of impending danger, I still do not know...

I been sayin that SOHH is partially responsible for the downfall of hip hop because of the irresponsibility in the messages they post.
Either take a stand and do the right thing contrary to other sites, or just run that corporate race to get hits and money and continue on down the tubes. SOHH chooses sides on the daily...at least they are consistent.

Funny thing is I check SOHH every morning and i'm on the west coast so I get shit kinda late. But I saw the TI takes a leak post (obviously posting a link cause who blogs new music and doesn't link the material) And I didn't even read the blog. It's not that important.
T.I. has overexausted his market with too many weak ass features and cross marketing ventures and his shit is damn near tired.
His single is lyricly is not there and the manny beat carries it... thing is it sounds like a old manny beat cut from the same cloth as the Jeezy sing off thug motivation. The song sounds old and it just dropped.
