SoHH Gyant's Atlanta's Own Talent Showcase Is Coming Back!!!

Since hip-hop is in such a questionable state right now, I think what we all need is a breath of fresh air. We need artists who can spit that fiyah yet not put themselves in a box like many of today’s rappers have done.

Therefore I am re-launching Atlanta’s Own. The talent showcase, originally created to give unsigned artists a platform to get their music out there to the masses, is coming back.

SoHH.com is a driving force in this grimy industry we all call the music business. And with that said, we got a lot of industry people constantly checking our sites, particularly the blogs.

So I’ve decided to reach out to each and every talented rapper, singer, producer, spoken word –whatever! But here’s the catch, the sh*t's got to be quality music. I am looking for socially conscious music. I’m challenging everybody—east coast, left coast, southern rappers, international artists, just as long as it’s hot and of course hip-hop based.

I’m going to give everybody two weeks to get your material into me. I will sift through it and pick 5 per week that will be posted every Monday starting May 7th, 2007. Please email me at sohhgyant@gmail.com.

Here’s a list of what needs to be included in your email:

1. Music(of course)
2. A picture of yourself
3. A bio preferably, but not required
4. Some form of contact. That way if I decide to go with you I will know how to get a hold of you.

So there you go everybody, its time to show the world what you got. Get your submissions in quickly.

Talk to you lata,

--SoHH Gyant

  • only social conscious?

u mean like talk about the birds and the trees? not the BIRDS AND THE TREES? lol

is this another movement to get rid of gangster rap?

can i submit a song that explains the word bitch? the word hoe? why i call him my nigga, and why they called us their nigger?

or can i send my song i still love her tho? its pretty much about this WOMAN i met, loved, became one with, and spent money on. and then i found out she was sleeping with everyone else when my pee started burning after i married that beautiful WOMAN? but i still love her tho.

get the fuck outta here, stop tryin to tell artists what to paint. or ask them to paint ONE CERTAIN picture, and just pick the best one. or send the definition of socially conscious.

i like the idea for showcasing artists, but let them bring what they've created. i guess we should start making music about the pennies on the floor, and the water in the ocean. lol

u can tell when an outsider of rap and hip hop are put in positions to speak on it and try to dictate it.

You can tell when "insiders" try to speak on it and try to dictate it as well. You can also tell when they don't have a full picture of what hip hop is.

  • actually i didn't mind the fact he was lookin for socially conscious shit, i'm pretty much diverse by my own standards of artistry and attempts to touch bases on a universal level with the listeners, be it fans, industry insiders, bums, whoeva.

As long as one person felt somethin i spit per day, my mission is accomplished, be it the most ignorant shit to the most positive i got a lil somethin for all.

    lol
Yeah, it's pretty bad, but there are a lot of things going on in the underground that people from ATL aren't even aware of. Just a few weeks ago, the A3C Independent Hip Hop Music Festival took place at The Loft. Underground artists from all over the country, along with our own local acts, came down to perform. And no, nobody was snappin fingers, leanin back or walking it out. lol
The Apache Cafe is a good joint, but they sometimes get up their own asses with self righteousness.
MJQ has a really good Hip Hop night. There are a bunch of places out there in ATL promoting quality hip hop.
