What's good everybody?
I decided to give my weekly Atlanta's Own showcase a rest for the week because I really want to talk about something else that happened over the weekend.
Ok, so I went to a hip-hop concert this weekend to get some great shots and video for you guys. However, when I got there it was very apparent that nobody cares about these particular rappers any longer as they failed to fill the venue even half to capacity.
I felt so bad for the performers that I called up their record label and told them that I wouldn't do a post on them; but I never said anything about putting it in the form of a Blind Item. So put your thinking caps on and observe all the clues.
This concert, which was highly publicized on local radio stations, only sold 100 tickets (estimated) in a venue that can easily accommodate 2,000-2,500 people. I arrived an hour after showtime and there was no line, no fan frenzy, absolutely nothing that would give any indication that this concert was even scheduled-let alone anticipated.
This Atlanta duo hasn't had a hit in a little over a year. They first exploded on the scene with a very catchy southern track that made them instant celebrities. They've worked with such amazing artists like Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, Lil John and Wyclef Jean. One of their most successful hits had everyone whispering it up in the clubs.
The hip-hop collaborators both own their own entertainment companies and plan to release their own solo albums in the future. One half of the duo has a very annoying self imposed Tourettes noise he makes often.
Can you figure out who I'm talking about? It's really pretty easy if you think about it!

Yea, thats them ying yang twins. I'm not hatin', but I wouldn't have been there to seem them myself neither. That annoying noise the one dude makes is enough to make people not want to come to the concert.

You cant feel sorry for them.
You can start out real gimmicky and then expect to be respected. They could try, but its going to be a hard workout so they better buckle up or find some new gimmicks.
That's why Atlanat need to watch out right now, all these big hits coming out of ATL-hiphop now are gimmicks. Sooner than later the public will be done with that, just like NY hiphop at the moment.

Yeah it has to be the Ying Yang Twins especially with that had everybody whispering in the club hint. I can believe they fell off because I go to UGA and they had a concert here that nobody went to. My homeboy went to the concert and said there was barely anybody there. Not even the white kids that were loving they're stuff was there. On another note though we had a Chamillionaire concert that I went to a few months before they came and that sold out so that shows how he's climbed up to be able to have a sold out concert at UGA.
