What’s good everybody?

So I can’t say that I didn’t see this coming. Sean Paul (Of the hip hop duo The YoungBloodZ) has officially changed his name to Sean P in anticipation of the summer 2007 release of his debut solo disc on Jive Records.

The music which was written by Sean P is being recorded both in Atlanta, Miami and Los Angeles and will feature a number of high profile producers and collaborations.

Sean’s songwriting skills was recently honored at the 24th Annual ASCAP Awards for “Snap Yo Fingers” a record he co-wrote with E-40 and Lil’ Jon. The single was one of the top hip hop records of the year having been played over 280,000 times on U.S. radio.

He was also nominated for another hit, “Do It To It” with Cherish. That single was played nearly 270,000 times with the two songs having surpassed 4.2 billion in audience.

You can rest assure that after his solo project drops he will officially go solo (or at least that’s my prediction) YoungBloodz haven’t don’t much lately other then “Bad Influence” with Busta Rhymes and Jackie-O.

  • surprised you know who sean paul is. impressive. your blogs been movin up lately from "the worst" to "ok" so i gotta give credit where its due. stop with the "randomness" and the "2 days late" posts and shit might improve round here even more. anyways, as far as sean p. goes, we know he's about average lyrically but he can ride a beat with almost anyone. C-Bo bout the same lyrically but his delivery dont catch me. but good luck to both of them nigs cuz they got hit making abilities.

  • Sean P is the truth, i remember riding smokin white purp bumpin "shake em off"!. I always thought that he was the better one out the too. I'll get that cd.

    On another note, one of the highest ranking members of the white ninja movements is celebrating his bday today he goes by the name of Jmizz, he'll be drinking white russians at an undisclosed location. Happy White B-Day mayn!!

  • Ok...I don't care what Sean Paul or Sean P. decide to call himself...In my opinion he is one of the most slept on mcs in the game...he been snappin for a while...I'm really disappointed that his song "My Swag"...didn't get that much airplay...Sean Paul, Sean P, Shower Cap Shawty, Sharp Crease...whatever he call himself Im on deck to get his album as soon as it comes out!

  • Ok Im mad I can't listen to the song at work...I've always been a fan though I wouldn't categorize him as one of the best, he's always done his thing when on the mic...as far back as 98/99 that I remember...however I wish him the best of luck...and to all the haters who are about to post the bullsshit that has become so redundant on these blogs keep the hating to a minimum...

  • Sean P. is aight he aint the most lyrical dude but he's tolerable. I don't know about a whole solo album now I think he's more of a featurer than a front man but then again I could be wrong bcuz Young Jeezy/Joc/Dro/Boosie all have solo joints so who knows. Best of luck to dude tho.


    And Dwayne Austin, good lookin on the name of the other Young Blood member he been M.I.A for a minute now.

  • I always thought Sean Paul had that distinct ATL flow that made the YB's album that much better. As a group, I don't think their record companies always chose the best singles to put forth. After they came out with "Damn", they should ahve followed up with that "Tequila" joint toward the end of the album. That song really displayed what they were about at the time; partying and just having a good time. The solo joint he had called, "Sean Paul", was one of my favorite songs on that album. I think the record execs just tried to recreate the same thing when "Presidential" came out. They must "know" what the people want.

  • I think it is more likely a legal move than a "primadonna"-ish one. I am pretty sure Sean Combs had to drop the "P." from "P. Diddy" b/c there was some guy in England already recording under that name. There is probably a similar situation going on here since Sean P. is branching out solo.

    -----------------------------------------I agree, Sean Price been callin himself Sean P. for the longest; as a matter of fact, I was watching the Duck Down Presents Boot Camp Click DVD last night (Please bring back this type of hip hop, cause I'm sufferin). However, I don't wanna disrespect the dude from the Outlawz, he's cool, just step away from the Sean P. name.
