Poppin or Floppin Video: Bobby Valentino- "Anonymous"!!

Whether you’re a fan of this blog or not you all know I have certain disdain for Mr. Bobby Valentino. And though some people often times classify me as a hater, I’m here to tell you all that’s just not true.
While my feelings towards Mr. Valentino may not be the best, his video for his second single (first official), “Anonymous†is out and I got to admit, it’s kinda hot. I’ve selected it for this weeks Poppin or Floppin video.
The one thing that can’t be denied about the small wonder is his musical growth and vocal ability. When his new song “Don’t Turn The Page†dropped last fall I was surprised to find out Bobby V was the vocalist. I was very impressed!
Though I’ve been hearing some not so good things about his project from people behind the scenes, this song might actually get people interested. While Bobby isn’t a really a “R&B Star†stateside, I’m told that he’s very big overseas. But, I don’t put much stock in that assessment.
Good Job BV!! It seems that you might actually have a chance at making something out of yourself in this game. But am I the only one who is looking at this entire situation with a crooked eye. Yesterday Shawnna's gets dropped, and suddenly Bobby's video drops online. Talk about the things that make you go hhhmmm!

The beat is alright, the video is monotonous, and Timbo shouldn't open his mouth. That's just one white nigga's opinion, don't hate all the white niggaz for it.
Man I can hear a little of Justins beat in there "my love". The base line, Isn't that one of Timbo's ghost producers brain child, I can't remember dudes name. Tell me what ya'll think it's just speed up a bit.

Lyrics I can hear it in there too. When songs are big and producers are on fire at the moment, they usually use the same formula and similar baselines, because artists come in the studio and say "I want something like that!" (refering to the Justin beat).
Look at any period of time when any known producer is hot at that moment. It's no different from rappers using the "what's hot right now" formula when putting pen to paper.
I think the single is hot though. I've always liked Bobby V's groove. He's an easy kat to listen to. I have that feeling in my gut that he'll do well with this as a lead single.

I like Bobby V. I went to school with him and I think he is a humble and talented brother. Now Gyant please leave him alone. Get another ATL victim to pick on. I would not had tripped if you posted about the Nas concert it was hott. I had a great time. He really did his thing.

Gyant..why Bobby V got to be a "small wonder", dude going to hold you down and make your hair juicy like his.
With Bobby V I think it comes down to what do call success, going gold, plat??? I don't think he will go plat because he doesn't have that type of buzz were he could ship 250k his first week. If he has a couple of hot single I could see him going gold, which would be successful for him imo.
But in the end it comes down to how much support the label is going to put behind his project, Luda is #1,2,&3 priority at DTP, so who knows how well his album is going to do.

Liked today's blog, and I agree when it comes to the diminutive Bobby Valentino. In the UK we find this vertically challenged wannabe a little strange as we already have a very talented Bobby Valentino. He must be nearly 50 by now as he has been playing violin on, and writing, hit records for 25 years. He co-wrote one of the biggest songs of 1993 - "Young At Heart" by the Scottish group, the Bluebells. Our Bobby Valentino (the original) is also a fantastic singer with a warm deep crooning voice, he has released 3 solo albums as a singer/songwriter and is currently the lead singer with the all-star Americana outfit -Los Pistoleros (www.lospistoleros.info). I would be interested to know which countries the US Bobby V is supposed to be big in as nobody here would have any idea who he is and we find his name very funny when our Bobby V is about 6 feet 3 inches tall and looks like a handsome 1940s movie star.
