First it was the gay rapperâ€"Chingy and now it looks like Shawnna is Ludacris’s latest victim.
The internet is a buzz over a recent rumor that Disturbing tha Peace Recording artists Shawnna has been dropped by Ludacris and the DTP Family.
In a supposed statement from Ludacris, this is what he had to say about the situation:
“Shawnna is a very talented artist but is no longer rocking with DTP''
The Chicago native has had a hard time getting her respect in this industry. After three albums and a semi rocky relationship with Def Jam, it seems that ole girl just can’t catch a break. She had a slight hit record last summer titled “Getting Some Headâ€, but after that she disappeared on the music charts.
While it’s unfortunate that she’s been canned, I can’t say that I’m all that surprised. If you look at 50 cent, Puffy, Missy Elliot, and now Ludacris, they are all highly successful artist’s who cant seem to rub that same success off on their people.
50 started out good, so did Puff. But history has constantly shown us that multi-platinum artists don’t make platinum CEO’s of record labels. Putting it plainlyâ€"they are out of their leagues!
While I can’t authenticate the rumor as of yet, I will keep snooping around to see what I can find. But her myspace page is indicating that their is something going on. Because Under her "Top Friends" catergory there arent any DTP recording artists, or the head master himself listed. Interesting!
I wonder though, was she in fact giving Luda some head?
I think its safe to say that if Bobby’s newest project flops, which insiders are telling me that it will. Then Id say he’s going to be the next one to get the ax by Chris.

I will cosign with ya ATL RED. Nothing wrong with a college degree. To develop a skill is something you can posses for life. After listen to Rev. Al Sharpton talked bout the Don Imus's situation made me think that rap music does degrade women, pollute our way of thinking, and make it seem ok to be a dummy. I only pray that real hip hop comes back. Not the conscious music but music that make you want to party or listen to a message. I appreciate Rev Al Sharpton for putting some light on the issue. People come on here everyday to degrade people or spread hate. We need to have more of a vocabulary than just four letter words to describe people today on here. All we do is send bad message filled with hate. I am tired of people that think it is okay to behave in this manner.

I feel sorry for the girl, she had mad, mad, skills. It just couldn't turn her into a platinum artist. And I'm happy hip hop is flopping right now because outside of a handful or artists, the music is REALLY STALE out there. There's isn't much creativity anymore. These days you hear a song on the radio and that song could've been made by 30 different rappers because they all rap about the same damn thing! Now, all they good for is one good song with a catchy hook and beat so it'll sound good as somebody ringtone and they think they the sh!t... But thats OK, between my i-pod and XM satellite radio, I can get through this downpour of un-originality plaguing the airwaves.
hip hop is just puttin out the trash. all these niggaz floppin is niggaz i didn't wanna hear anyway. i hope it stays like this, so in order to sell records the artist are going to have to take their time and make quality records and put in some real work.

Is they don't know how to balance their careers and their artists at the same time. Their artist need their labels undivided attention to succeed. And they also need to be seen as their own man not a subordinate in order to demand the public respect. Like 50 said its a natural progression they need to be seen as their own man. Call their own shots and make their own decisions.
You can only be viewed as a prospect for so long,at some point you have to evolve into a franchise player for the public to recognize you as a force to be wreckoned with. Buck's on that verse right now, as was Mase with Puffy and so was Beans till the roc collapsed.
and Before Banks flopped he was on that track. No one on DTP is strong to hold their own without Luda's help. But their R&B side is thriving though

Rumors are easy to start and they travel fast. I'm not saying this rumor is true or false! Just funny how some people take something and run with it!
Also I need to correct that person that says Rich Boy: "FLOPPED". That's not true. If his album had flopped, he wouldn't be so hot right now and at the top of the charts maintaining Platinum Status!

Shawanna is cool, but damn name one artist that signed to another artist label that has been successful, hopefully these people will realize that signing to a popular artist label doesn't guarantee you anything, there fans aren't going to automatically be your fans.
Gyant, you is a funny dude, you can't help but hate on Bobby V. Lil' buddy going to have the album of the year you if you keep on hating.
I think artist that run labels are not prepared to do so in terms of their own career. They still have goals they want to accomplish and can not do that if they are running a label or watching another steal their shine. Shawana is one of the best female lyricists out but no one at DTP has time to develop her as an artist because they are running behind Ludacris on every red carpet. Another example is One Chance. These guys are dynamic stage and very talented but they will never shine because Usher or whoever does not seem dedicated to the project. Now I can't say that for everyone because it does seem like 50 Cents tried with his artists they just are wack (here comes the hate) but other than that some artists have no business with labels. They don't give a damn about these artists.

Nobody's really selling because artists keep dropping wack ass music, and the public is finally getting tired of it. Quality music suffers because the market is so saturated with the bullshit, kids don't know quality when they hear it. All the same repetitive shit gets played on the radio so quality artists get no promotion.
It has NOTHING to do with bottlegging either so if anyone was thinking that, don't even do it.

1)Not enough orignal material. artist cant keep saying the same shit the same way.
2)bootleggin/Downloads. its tooooo easy to download now days. (the hood is 20 cheap).
3)mixtapes. when the unit change the mix tape game they started a trend a bad one. banks spit his hardest shit on mix-tapes. buck just realesd a classic mixtape. these niggas could have use those lyrics/songs to make better albums.
4)Beef. since almost everyone is taking a different rappers/movement side it forcing the consumer to choose. if i like gunit fuck the gayme. if i like game fuck gunot.

Ok Gyant I usually don't bother you but I got to on this one. If they are out of there leagues then who's league are they trying to get to? And who's already in that league? I'm sure you don't mean the head honcho league like Jimmy I. , Clive, and Tommy. If you do mean that league then it's not a fair compairson cause these cats own labels that don't just fuck with Hip Hop. These are successful artist put in a position to help others help themselves and they did that perfectly. I wouldnt consider it a failure. The artist who can't put they boys on for a shot at stardom, is a different story. These artists sign like what 4 or 5 people they are cool with, when the big labels have like 15 to 20 signed artist in all different genres of music. Not just people from they're block. Music sales are suffering across the board to say our black music artists are out of there league is an unfair statement IMO
