Touching back on the post I did on Friday regarding CNN’s special on Hip-Hop “Is it Art or Poison”, I found some video footage on youtube.com with popular radio personalities Ryan Cameron, and Elle of Atlanta’s people station—V103.
Since CNN premiered their straight to the point special, Hip-Hop has been on the defense in a big way. Rappers and fans of the innovative, and often times, toxic music genre have been flooding in calls in major urban markets to express their opinions about society’s negative feelings towards rap music
I myself, continue to remain on the fence of this discussion. Though I feel that Hip-Hop isn’t a perfect art form, what genre is? If you look at Pop music, you have Madonna and Britney, who have used direct sexual overtones to sell their music. If you look at Heavy Metal/Rock, you’ve got Ozzy Osborne and Marilyn Manson who use often times grotesque pieces of machinery in their videos that would turn even the strongest stomach inside out.
What I do think is that as a people, we’ve got to take ownership and accountability for what we portray within our own culture. Hip-Hop, much like, Gospel, and R&B, belongs to the black community. We may have been robbed and cheated out of ownership like we have been on so many other things, but we still dictate its influence and ultimately its popularity. Think about it, if today’s most popular, and sought out rappers decided to staged a boycott and chose not release one track or produce a single video ever again, what would happen to Hip-Hop?
At the end of the day we need to stand up as a people and say enough is enough. Being a creative person myself, I think freedom of expression is very important. However, when it starts seep into our actual lives and transcends adults and directly effect our youth. Then we should have a responsibility to stifle some of the creativity for the further progression of our woman and children.

To me, it starts and ends with the parents. That is the bottom line. I started listening to rap in 1984 when I was 5 years old. I remember listening to Too $hort and NWA when I was 10-12 years old, the so-called "impressionable/formative years". The tapes with the PA sticker on them cussing and all. I didnt even know what some of the things they were saying even meant at the time. I didnt turn out to be a rotten apple. America has turned into a soceity of blamers. No one wants to take accountability of their actions or lack of action. They always want to blame or sue someone or something for whatever happens to them. These "mean girls" paris, nicole ritchie, lohan are just as much to blame as rap, or violence on TV or in video games. But it comes back to the parents. I played Mortal Kombat. I watched Faces of Death. I didnt turn out to be a sociopath or a criminal. My dad always watched R rated movies, action flicks with cursing, shooting, sex, violence, nudity. I still remember that woman dropping her gown and showing her ass in Enter the Dragon like it was yesterday. He let me watch them with him, but best believe I knew what was right and what was wrong. That is the crux of the matter. People let Playstation, Cable TV, and 50 Cent raise their kids instead of raising the kids themselves. If parents were parents like they were in the 70's and 80's a lot of this crap wouldnt be going on today.
Peace.
it's neither one nor the other
lemme put it in a fancy way:
"it's poisoned art and artful poison" LOL
anyone who thinks what CNN said was wrong is stupid. lt doesn`t need a rocket scientist to figure out that HIP HOP or RAP music nowadays is very toxic to our youth, society and moral. lt is a mockery of what our forefathers fought for. Tupac always said it, when he was beefing with Biggie, like most of these niggas is claiming to be thugs, but can`t start a revolution against black oppression and not wanting to be a movie star like Jay Z, Young Jeezy, T.I. l heard a song by Jay Z on Blue Print talking about his father left home and he had to be the man of the house, yet he is like the last born out of a family of about five. These niggas just wanna floss, they are dum and really lazy, so resort to selling coke claiming they just trying to eat yet all they want is the shine.
All l`m saying is don`t justify Hip Hop saying that it is positive and can be negative at times. lt is negative most of the time, with a few others cats who use sense. Listen to Kanye West, Common, The Roots. Kanye said it, "DRIVE SLOW HOMIE" give yourself time to grow.
HIP-HOP IS A CULTURE...ITS CHANGED ALOT, BUT U CANT BLAME RAP FOR THE ILLS OF SOCIETY.BEFORE HIP-HOP U STILL HAD DOPE FIENDS, DOPE SELLERS, PROSTITUTES, CROOKED COPS, AND MURDER....I SAW A CLIP ON YOUTUBE CALLED "WHO KILLED HIP-HOP" LOOKS INTERESTING CLICK THE URL BELOW TO CHECK IT OUT.
Of course, everything evolves. Music definitely being an artform that changes in time. But, honestly the rap/hip-hop today is toxic for the most part. Its not like it used to be. And media resources are more available now than before. now you have cable, sattelite, internet, etc. There are so many ways to get information out to the masses and people seem to be drawn the negative over the positive.
hip hop was the tool of black people to express themselves, to attack the establishment. but all capitalism needs to do to defend itself against its enemies is offer them money. hip hop sold itself and now is a part of the establishment. you won't get famous or rich standing up for your people, and none of your favorite rappers can resist the money. hip hop is dead. it's a zombie now working against you.

man...why are we even talkin bout this. if u got common sense, u know its poison and art but WHAT CAN U ACTUALLY DO ABOUT IT? nothing. when u see your lil niece "pop lock and droppin it" at 12 years old and your lil nephew thinkin he a thug at 11,part of it is they only doin what they saw AND their parents aint shyt. talk about these kids raising kids and the divorce rate and how all the dads aint man enuff to handle their shyt or locked up. hip hop is just art. its bigger shyt goin on...wake the fck up. eastside/decatur. holla
Oktoba, you're get more lame with every post, man, give it up. You had a spark when you started but now you just garbage. What are you even talking about? You're the reason that hip-hop is garbage. You just like every other trash-talking MC or DJ in the game that can't back anything up. No shit hip hop is poison when people started looking out only for themselves and how many records they could sell to the stupid public. How naive can we be? We bought in to 50's formula, Jay-Z's dumbed down music, The Game's Wackumentary. This just goes to show that we don't give a fuck about what we're feeding our kids. There's a bunch of Uncle Tom DJ Oktoba motherfuckers out there selling out their own race to make a buck--you wrong for that one.
Anytime I let CNN dictate to me what hip hop is and hip hop is about is the day that I need to never listen to a hip hop song ever. CNN and Paula Zahn can kiss my ass.
so blame hip hop for the crack epidemic - blame hip hop for aids - blame hip hop for little kids having sex in middle school - blame hip hop for the police killing sean bell - blame hip hop for kids not learning shit in school - blame hip hop for teachers who show up to get paid - blame hip hop for kids who have to go to school to eat a decent meal - blame hip hop for all these people without health insurance - blame hip hop for the lack of jobs - blame hip hop for them catholic priests fuckin lil boys etc.
so if we take away hip hop, then all those problems will vanish - lol -ok. i remember when it was nintendo and video games they claimed were poison.
in the next five years it'll be something else - but the people who gone fail their kids, is the people who misdiagnosing them with y they struggle. -
they rather blame hip hop, than blame poverty, desperation, and abandonment - for some of these bad situations.
get ready for the time of the haves and have nots - because the people who have are finding reasons to turn their back on the have nots. they gone start helping only overseas people. [ we spending billions on war but cant feed our poor. ( tupac )]
Most of us can't front rap is the cause of alot of problems in the inner city. All of us have been infected by this poison in one shape or another. I am at a age in my life where I see how this is affecting the youngsta more than it did my generation. We had to deal with gangs and stuff like that I feel its harder to be a teen now because they have to have bling, cars deal with gangs(which I don't know why this is still around)If anything alot of these rappers(about 93% of them)are making everything look so easy.Hey and let's not forget the people who make the most of this the mostly jewish ceos they are killing to birds with one stone.I don't see how we don't see this man we need to wake up out of this mindstate were in as a people stop letting everyone else control our mind sets.
Posted by: lano at February 27, 2007 9:27 AM
rap is not the cause of the problems in the inner city - the problems in the inner city is the reason for rap. its the newstation for the inner city - cuz bill o'reilly dont go there and broadcast - so now he heres whats going on through rap, and he think rap is the reason, when this stuff been around longer than rap. brother killing brother out of envy - kane and abel
some of u cats silly - they trine to blame as an excuse for it gettin out of hand, and for a reason not to help
and if a certain rapper, teacher, or friend is raising your child - then the child or the rapper isnt the root of problem, its the parentSSS - or lack there of.
It's been said already, but I just want to agree with the first comment. Basically, parents should do their damn job. Without rap music, we've all seen movies, watched tv shows and even news channels with horrific displays of violence. The ones who watched those movies and didn't turn around and say, "I'm going to go shoot a whole bunch of people, just like the man in the movie", are the people who had PARENTS who were deeply involved in their upbringing. That's what separates me from a lot of people. My parents actually gave a shit.
People are letting rappers raise their kids. I admit, TV sort of raised me because I was a "latchkey kid", but it was Bill Cosby who raised me, not 106 & Park or "reality TV". The Cosby show kept me in check, as well as my parents.

IT AIN'T ALL GOOD, BUT IT AIN'T ALL BAD???
When there are subjects close to my heart I have to stay focused... I certainly don't think Hip~Hop is bad for our people because once again we are only looking at the negatives... Hip~Hop provides jobs for thousands and thousands of people, hip hop artist have donated millions of dollars to this country's underprivliged people, the Hip~Hop community raised voter awareness by having the largest number of "NEW" Registered Voters in America's History... As most of you know my stance on this subject I don't believe this even sounds like poison...
We are so quick to follow this path that the media lays out for us, we are so quick to accuse with no research, we don't study to get the facts we take the lazy route and let the media give us our opinion... Well who do you think runs the media??? I can't tell you enough but one time a wise man told me "Believe none of what you hear, and half of what you see" We can't be so quick and irrational when we hear things we are so quick to jump the gun, we have no patience... Did we learn anything from pioneers like Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls??? Get the facts first then make your own decision... Four of the largest murders in the History of Hip~Hop are unsolved... Coincidence or Conspiracy they kill our leaders when they reach a certain level of power its the Hoover Laws...
@ Lucky and Matt What's Beef???
This is not Beef!!! Lucky you are retarded for responding to that ingnorance up there, I never said I hated any race of people, HELL I don't even hate y'all I think y'all on some ignorant shit calling yourselves the WNM because you can online that's all I like the exposure and the name calling doesn't bother me at all because I really don't know y'all...

look give me a start date when hip hop is the cause of problems in the hood. see thats why the schools are failing the kids, people say hip hop is the cause of alot of problems, give me one and give me the date that it started and then ask yourself "was that shit here first or was it here after the music".. you dumb assholes kill me with this self hating, i hate hip hop is the cause cause of my problems bullshit. i guess hip hop made crack, not that was the CIA.!! i guess hip hop made the projects, no that was the government.. first for jews then piled black people in like fuckin lab rats.. hip hop made the jail system, no that was again the U.S gubment.. its now the new slavery and its the reason alot of millions and billionaires are such.. oh yeah hip hop created how we think now! LOL slavery and Us/we created our thinking.. what people need to understand is that they are trying to ban this music because it can tell the truth, is the last form of music that has the power to free the mind and expose so many things if used like it was previously.. gangs, crack, robberies, murder, bio diseases, rape, incest etc all here for years some for decades and centuries.. history repeats itself and all we are seeing is a repeating of history of the slaughter of the native people and genocide pushed on the minority in america.. government sponsored and the elite oversee it and profit and bask in it.. what happens to all the missing kids in africa every year? child sex slavery rings linked to saudi arabia and U.S interest and the white house mixed with sick senators and even pedophile presidents. oh but i guess CNN is right hip hop created all of this.. so i guess hip hop killed the black panthers too. the elite fuck with peoples heads all the time and this is no exception.. why do you think artist are so money driven now, the elite (free masons/illuminati) have put the ink on the page for the trained monkies to play they part mass feeding these ideas to us.. corporate exec, labels all have links to the elite and when they start that new war coming and finally ban your music it'll be too late to fully understand this music didn't have shit to do with shit.. fuckin idiots..where's your logic.. motherfuckers had flossing and stunting in the damn 80's and 70's.. all real life forms of sex and strip clubs and all other things happening in this music was here yeas before it. it was only a matter of time before it mended with the music because of the culture we have that uses life image in the art.. but who controls those images now?
First of all what we are really discussing here is rap music, and rap music is only 1/4 of hip hop.
Most Rap music today is poison. But we all know that's not all that hip hop is.
Paula Zahn and CNN don't know that. Should we educate them? Or just tell them to shut the fuck up?(neither will work)What we have to do is change the climate.
Of course you can't blame rap for all the problems in the inner city but you can blame alot on these uncle toms for misrepersenting the hoods from which we came they are making money off of all the bad things in the hood and you will be a fool to sit up here and say that its all on the parents. We have to take this resource call hip hop for more positive things it cant all be about killing fu**ing selling dope clubing banging and this is hardley ever done to other racist in these "songs" they do it to us and you know why because its profit in killing niggas now if these dudes are not house niggas who are us the ones who question there dumbass they need to wake up and understand that the power they have can be used in a better way but they want because the crumbs they get from the people behind the screens is enough for them to brag.Dont defend this crap its mostly bad.
Haha, this DJ Lucky v. Oktoba beef is funny, where has Matt Herbz gone this week? did Gyant block his IP??. Y'all niggaz some clowns.
These CNN idiots don't understand the art because they lack struggle. They lack the struggler's knowledge that our people are born with....
- Have they ever had to heat the house with the oven?
- Have they ever had to ask neighbors for bread and lunch meat?
- Was school lunch the only meal they ate throughout the day?
- Did they have live on the floor 24/7 or sleep in the bathtub out of fear of stray bullets?
- Do they have to worry about being gunned down, beat, kicked, pushed or punched by asshole cops?
- Have they ever had to cook food on a house radiator?
- While growing up, was the color of their money white and brown, instead of green?
- Have they ever had to wear 1 pair of jeans 3 days out of the week and rotate with the only other pair they had? Was monday, wednesday and friday the light pair? And tuesday and thurday the dark pair?
- Was the packaging color of the food they ate black and white?
- Do they even understand what a project is?
- Did the Klan march through their project home in 19-fucking-86, with torches?
YES 19-fucking-86. I was 4 years old when that happened and I still see them in my mind to this day.
If those fuckers only knew what was in our hearts. If they felt the pain, they could feel the music.
To the nigga postin that shit about DAT BOY AIM, get a real job nigga!!! Stop posting that shit on here. If you really want to promote that artist hit the streets, do the shows, do it the old fashioned way. Beside's who the fuck is gonna follow an artist named "That Boy Aol Instant Messenger??". it doesnt matter because we dnt buy records its they kids buyin it thats y they give a fuck. hell n a minute they gon be tellin us wat bein hood is though they neva seen one unless its on crap videos or movies. so until we take a stand shit wont ever change

I Cosign That
The problems we have in society are in no way caused by hip hop. This just a smoke screen to divert our attention from real issues like, THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM TURNING ITS BACK ON INNER CITY CHILDREN, KEEPING THE BLACK FAMILY TOGETHER, LACK OF JOBS AVAILABLE TO YOUNG BLACK MEN...ETC
COME ON PEOPLE DON'T FALL FOR THIS TRAP
Already commented on Part I and I dont wanna just repeat the same shite, so Imma answer this question..
Gyant Says:
"Think about it, if today’s most popular, and sought out rappers decided to staged a boycott and chose not release one track or produce a single video ever again, what would happen to Hip-Hop? "
First of all that would neva eva eva eva evaevaevaevaeva happen. Str8^. People are locked into contracts, legalities involved. Besides, these rappers arent gonna make a stand. They only care about making $$$$$$$. Thats what amazes me about these little stans on here going "DipSet Bitch!" "GGGGG-Unit" "Black Wall Street 4 life" all that shit. These rappers dont give a good god damn about you, or your issues or anything. They care about themselves, their family and their money. Thats it. So even thinking that rappers are gonna break contracts and put down their petty-ish and never make another track is fantasy.
But to play devils advocate,
NOTHING. LOL. You know why? Because theres always an "Uncle Tomer" or "Uncle Tommest" nicca that will sell out for the dough. Thats what it comes down to. If Jay and Nas and even T.I. and Chamillion, put down the mic... hahaha, we'd just fill up the genre with more snap poppers and bullshit D4L rappers to carry on the minstrel show and get paid before it fizzled out. Thats why we need out Nas's we need our JayZ's, the cats that take it in a different direction, givin the grown man somethin to vibe to. We need people like Common and Kanye and Talib and Mos and Lupe spreading the good word(no pun intended) and telling us something different to combat the negetive. Because the news reports dont talk about Common, or Mos, or Lupe or Swollen or any of the underground hiphop acts or little brother on some real-ish. They FOCUS on the negetive, and never really show the opposite side. Thats the media for you. It's fooled all of you because you started to doubt hiphop, even tho you know theres tons of different MC's out there. So if all the major rappers put down the mics.. it would just lead to hiphop contracts litteraly being given to the lowest bidder and who's gonna follow directions, not go their own.
My .02
1 hunned.
let me know when CNN decides to air a show about hunger and poverty in america ( the so called richest country )
was that episode supposed to help our community? if we stopped rap today, is that going to feed these kids? if we stop rap, is that going to help these children who watch their mothers overdose, and still be expected to function right in school? if we stop rap, are they going to pull the gun stores out of every pawn shop in the inner cities?
i dont think we need to stop rap, i think america needs to stop giving them things to rap about. thats y most rappers first albums are more street, and when they get out of the street and get rich, its about money etc.
and thats wut CNN is scared of because we're supposed to be starvin and oppressed, not eating and being more popular than CNN. thats y they did that show - to get more views, but in a week or so, nobody will be talkin about CNN.
Art no longer imitates reality. Reality is imitating art.
No longer the "Ugly Truth" but the "Beutiful Lie".............
@ lano
its not all on the parents? if u have that attitude, then u shouldnt have kids - cuz u settin up your excuse already.
IM one hunned percent responsable for my household. if my kisd fuck up, dont blame rap, jimmy neutron, sponge bob, or lil kim.
or their teacher. like i say earlier, rap, friends, tv or teachers aint the reason - they need to do a show on half ass parents
i remember my mama wouldnt let me watch the simpsons cuz he told his mama eat his shorts. and im a grown man, and still sont watch the simpsons.
yea - in the nineties bart was the so called poison, especailly when they moved him in the cosbys slot.
and when i use to comment on these rappers all the time, i remember my mama explainin to me to not to get caught up and idolize them.
and its funny cuz these cats argue over them daily like they idolize them like the white kids idolized bart, nintendo, mortal kombat, grand theft, and i guess now its rap. so thats y its on CNN
WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT THE DEATH OF HIPHOP?
THE REAL ARCHIE BUNKER IS BACK!!!!!!!
I see that my job is here done.... I tried to forwarn you people that the hammer was coming down but nobody wanted to listen. Look simply straighten out your image, thats all thats being ask. The ignorant of your culture shouldn't always be the ones representing for you... I tried to warn you that the mainstream was about to atack your kind and culture, and there won't be a thing you can do about it(Remeber elections are coming). The attack will get alot worst before it gets better.....
Take it from an insider....
Helpfull hint:
If your kind want to throw a monkey wrench into our plan, start putting out civilized music & act civil, then watch what happends, we will have to focus on something else to make an issue out of. We chose rap music because we can guaranty, even with me giving up a small tidbit of our strategy, you people will do nothing but prove us right....
Oh yeah, before you go on your uneducational rants... Yes our race has some screw ups to, they just don't represent the whole group.
THE REAL ARCHIE BUNKER IS BACK!!!
@ Oktoba
You a chi-chi face ass g-spot. I ain't with Herbs or his movement. I'm calling your homo-thug ass out on the foulness your spitting. First you hate whites, now you like them? You need to come correct cause like I said, this is a bad look for you however you're coming off. Hip hop is a fucking guilty pleasure. It helps one visualize this fantasy world of warehouses full of drugs, briefcases full of money, garages full of droptops, and beds full of women. Some may have it like that, but for the rest, it's just a picture of a like we wished we lived. I wish we'd take it back to the days of battle raps and how one man's raps are held against another's. Nowadays shit is all about how much shit you bought in the mall or some 10-step program to making a crack deal. Shit's stupid.
"They" have to blame todays problems on something. I guess since most urban youth listen to Hip-Hop, "they" figure that Hip-Hop is the problem. Damn shame.............

DJ OKTOBA BLACK BY POPULAR DEMAND
IM STILL CHILLING...
To: SOHH's Gyant in particular and everyone else in general:
First of all, as the originator of this thread you apparantly cannot differentiate between Hip-Hop culture and the Rap Music business, which is unfortunate because being in a position of influence as a journalist, how can you help enlighten people if you yourself are not clear on certain fundamental concepts? Gyant, you posed the question of what would happen if the top artist initiated a moratorium on making songs/videos? This question suggest that these "artist" have real power, something that simply isn't true. Don't be naive, all these artist on TV, radio, etc. are pawns in the game, nothing more. They are contrived, manufactured products of the corporate music busniess structure. If the 50s, TI, Jeezys, etc. decided not to be puppets anymore the music industry would just create a new 50, TI, etc. and when and if this "urban music" is no longer profitable, they will have no problem abandoning it all together and manufacturing something else. In fact, it is more likely that they will purposely move this "thing" masquerading as Hip-hop out themselves and make something else the next Pop craze. Don't be fooled, black people do not decide and/or control what is marketed, promoted and ultimately sold in the market place. None of these artist would go plantinum plus if it weren't for white suburban kids and when and if the real power brokers- not these low to mid-level figure heads like Puff, JayZ, Dr.Dre, etc.- decide that they they've milked this "urban thing" for all it's worth and/or they no longer want it at the forefront of popular culture for their kids anymore, it will be systematically supplanted. It's actually already happening; "urban music" record sales are steadily declining and as this "urban thing" becomes less profitable, the music business is not fighting to save it. The industry is simply moving on. Check the stats: These companies are downsizing, if not completely eliminating their urban music divisions. Just recently, SonyBMG totally disbanded their Columbia Urban Music division (I guess Nas saw it coming). So, to answer your question, if the 50s, TIs, Jeezys, etc. took a stand and decided not to be pimped anymore the music industry wouldn't suffer because of it. Those artist would just have to go back to being broke HS dropouts or criminals (unless they have some other marketable skills I don't know about). Personally, I hope the economic bottom does fall out of the rap music business because then all the hustlers, pimps and thugs would leave or be forced out and all that would be left would be true artist dedicated to making music for the sake of making music.
The point is this: Hip-Hop does not live on MTV, BET mainstream radio, etc. so stop looking for it there! What is being propogated by mainstream media is not Hip-Hip. It is the bastard offspring of Hip-Hop after she (Hip-Hop) was seduced, pimped and very often raped by Corporate America in general and the music industry in particular. At first glance this bastard looks and sounds like Hip-Hop, especially to those who never knew Hip-Hop personally, but the truth is, what is on TV, Radio, etc. is not Hip-Hop. It is her out of control, misguided, bastard child. The child is impersonating its mother and fooling those who don't know better. Where is Hip-Hop you ask? Well after careful consideration maybe Nas was right after all- Hip-Hop is Dead!!! But that doesn't mean Hip-Hop is non-existent because her spirit still lives in the hearts and minds of all of us who knew her and were touched by her. Her essence is part of her offspring's "DNA" but unfortunately 'the bastard' also inherited "DNA" from and is under the corrupt influence of its no-good, self-serving, hedonistic and avaricious father. 'The bastard' is in many ways ignorant of its heritage and therefore is greatly misrepresenting its mother's true essence. Thus, the challenge isn't to save Hip-Hop because she is fine, as she now exist in a higher state-"spiritual form". The challenge is for those of us who claim we love Hip-Hop to step up and "save" her lost child. In the end you are right in suggesting that, for the sake of the children, we need to draw a moral compass around this thing some erroneously think is Hip-Hip, but the sad reality is it may be too late and if it is too late and we are unable to reform it, the only alternative may be to disassociate ourselves, and more importantly our children, from the bastard- By Any Means Necessary!!
Damn, son, you're name's gonna go down in the books for beeing the realest 30 year old E-thug ever. Talking about come real or don't come at all? Shit, who the fuck is DJ Oktoba? Hip Hop is obviously not a perfect genre but I always have a problem with the double standard when it comes to hip hop or music in general and Hollywood. If you put some Italian guys in sports coats in a movie they can get away with doing and saying whatever they fuckin want. Al Pacino played alot of good non violent roles, but a damn 12 year old can tell you the one he's most famous for. And did anyone happen to see the Osacar winning Departed??? Whose complaining about the violence, foul language, and sex in that movie???
damm luke you sunned that muhfucka!
LOL at dis oldass fat bastard on her thinkin he the hot shit! haha
Much love to Lucky Luke for recognizing the real from the fake. The White Nigga Movement supports you, whoever you are, and whatever color you may be. Don't let this old ass man a/k/a DJ Octopussy get you down, he is a professional at bullshitting. He actually believes that he's debating serious shit on this website. If you ever wanna roll through Greenbriar Mall, we'll come pick you up in the white/white Hummer on 26" white chrome wheels. I'm suprised I haven't seen my little girlfriend SouthernMiss on here, recently. Maybe DJ Oktopussy ate her or something. White Nigga Movement in a hood near you!

AMEN. YOU SAID IT WELL.
DOUBLE STANDARDS.
IMO, IT'S SELECTIVE JOURNALISM AND/OR MEDIA COVERAGE AND "THE FEAR OF A BLACK PLANET"=[WHITE AMERICA'S FEAR OF THE BLACK RACE BEING VIEWED IN A POSITIVE WAY. FOR THEN, THEY'D HAVE NOT CAUSE TO OPPRESS US. LEAVING US WITH THE OPTION TO PARTICIPATE FREELY, IN U.S. CAPITALISM AND COME UP.]
EVEN THOUGH OUR CULTURE HAS THE SAME OR SIMILAR BEHAVIOR AS OTHER CULTURES AND/OR ART FORMS [I SAY SIMILAR BECAUSE WE HAVE MORE SPUNK, MORE UGHH, MORE SWAGGER] THEY ARE GOING TO POINT OURS OUT AND MAKE A NEGATIVE REFERENCE. SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO CONVINCE [THE WEAK AND MEEK] US AND ANOTHER WHO MAY BE WITHOUT BIAS OR PREJUDICE,THAT WE ARE UNCONTROLLABLE. THUS GIVING CREDENCE TO THE UNFAIR AND STEREOTYPICAL TREATMENT THAT WE OFTEN RECEIVE.
KEEP IN MIND, IT WAS NOT IN THE SYSTEMS PLAN FOR US TO THRIVE HERE. NOR TO ENJOY THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES AS OTHER CITIZENS. WE CANNOT EVEN PURSUIT OUR HAPPINESS, WITHOUT FITTING THE DESCRIPTION!!! SO REMEMBER, EVERYTIME YOU, FALL INTO THE TRAP, "WILLINGLY", THERE WILL BE ANOTHER, SENTENCED TO IT, "FORCEFULLY." BECAUSE STATISTICS, SHOW IT TO BE THIS WAY. AND THEY HAVE TO KEEP THOSE NUMBERS RELEVANT, IN ORDER TO PASS LAWS TO SUPPRESS AND OPPRESS US. THUS, KEEPING US OUT OF THE LOOP.
ONLY ABOUT 2% OF OUR CULTURE IS WITHOUT GUIDANCE AND ROLE MODELS, REALLY. NO DIFFERENT THEN ANY OTHER CULTURE. BUT OUR'S GET BLOWN UP MORE.
"IF YOU GO TO COURT, LOOKING FOR JUSTICE?......,THAT IS WHAT YOU'LL FIND,.....JUST US!"
GET YOUR KNOWLEDGE UP! DON'T FALL FOR THE HYPE.

First is not just music but more so a lifestyle and sub culture. Now Gansta Rap or Dope Boy music is a genre of HIP HOP but not HIP HOP it self.
HIP HOP is not posion but Gansta RAP is social posion. Gansta Rap encourages ignorant and self destructive behavior and attitudes. We are a race of people continue to repeat the same mistakes over and over again because we fail to admit or recognize where our error lys! Most of the people that don't believe that Gansta Rap is posioning our youth of ignorant and blinded by stubborn.
Me personally I don't concern myself with the messenger but more so the message it self. The truth is the truth no matter who says it! Teenage Parenthood, Drugs, Alcohol, and Gansta Rap have been more destructive to the African American race then any extremist group, political organization or law. YOUNG BLACK MEN AND WOMAN ARE TO IGNORANT TO SEE THAT WE ARE SELF DESTRUCTING!
These young immature kids having baby before they are old enough to have a clue about anything......are raising their kids up to be ignorant, irresponsible and socially unconscious. As I said before I love black people but I hate niggaz!
One last thing! This for all the post who don't feel that Gansta Rap is poison. Do you think gang bangers that kill other black people are uncle toms and race traders? Do you think drug dealers that sell drugs in black neighborhoods to other black are UNCLETOM or RACE TRADERS? Do you think black men that pimp black woman are UNCLE TOMS OR RACE TRADERS! I am just curious of how you people feel about these gansta muthafuckaz that are killing us from with in!
How about Young Jeezy, TI who openly admit selling drugs to and shooting other black people. Are they uncle toms?

None to my knowledge, but this is not about me as an individual but us as a race of people. Maybe I am ignorant for still believing that we should still care about each other as a race. I mean when we see a black person who we don't know getting beat by the police we all stand up as a race and demand justice. Why should it be any different when it comes to drug dealers who are selling us slow dead and mayhem just so they can go out and buy some rims for their truck. Or so call black thugs killing another black person because he is from a different part of town? Why because they say their just trying to survive? What does an Escalade on 20 inch rims have to do with surviving? What does high price champagne have to do with surviving. Drug dealer pray on their own people for self glorification and we sit by idle glorifying them even more! In my opinion these kind of people are the true enemies of our race.
So tell me LOVELY T. BROWN, what do you think about what I said and people like JEEZY and TI and every other self proclaimed dope boy?
I think Nas already told us what the poisons are in this society on the album Stillmatic. Listen to what he is saying, now those are poisons. The way he expresses himself is an art. Hip Hop is an art. How can u say an expression of one's self in too odd of a fashion for today's society is poison? Would CNN ever look at any other genre of music and call it poison because a few artist express themselves in a way that they'd rather not hear. You have to listen. yea some of the artist speak about nonsense but dont criticize hip hop. I dont know his name but he said there are people out there who do have a positive message they just need tight beats. Somebody shoulda smacked his ass out his damn seat for that. No, they just need the same promotion the next man is getting who talks about how much money he got. Will they ever get it? its plenty of people with positive messages that no radio wants to air or no BET wants to play. Like Dead Prez said 'Its bigger than Hip Hop."
oh yea and CNN didnt have a problem playing any rap songs in the background of that special. those deadly poisonous songs they speak of...
if today’s most popular, and sought out rappers decided to staged a boycott and chose not release one track or produce a single video ever again, what would happen to Hip-Hop?
