MORE DJ DRAMA INFOMRATION FOR Y'ALL!!

Even MTV is getting in on the DJ Drama-DJ Cannon controversy. While many of yâ€™all got so upset over me calling DJ Dramaâ€™s mixtape â€œbusinessâ€â€"bootlegging. According to authorities thatâ€™s exactly what it is. Bootlegg/Pirated is any material that is NOT copyrighted. I understand the importance of mixtapes in hip-hop. They are the life blood of hip-hop, where artists drop new songs and unreleased tracks to keep their names in the streets. T.I., Lil Wayne, and Young Jeezy owe a large part of their success to the mixtape industry. But, when your dealing with â€œthe manâ€ AKA â€"white people, you got to make sure that everything you do is 100% legit.

While many of you all demanded my termination from Sohh.com(which isnt happening by the way) I have to state the facts as I see them. Despite what many of you think, I have a lot of luv for Atlanta, and Atlanta artistâ€™s. Just how I have luv for basketball superstars Michael Jordon, and Shaq, but my luv for them still doesnâ€™t, and will not cloud my judgment on a situation.

Now, whether Drama or Cannon had permission from the artists to use the music to make their extremely popular â€œGangsta Grillzâ€ series or not, they still didnâ€™t have permission from the Record Industry Association of America. And thatâ€™s where the problem lies. At the end of the day, itâ€™s about money plain and simple. Thatâ€™s what fuels this world, our economy and at the essence us. No matter how popular they are as a DJâ€™s doesnâ€™t matter. If they used even one song illegally to make a mixtape that made a profit, then they put themselves in this situationâ€¦period!

Some of you guys will understand my plight, some of yâ€™all wont. But I digress, I just wanted to give you guys some more information on the situation.

I PERSONALLY FEEL IT SHOULD BE UP TO THE RECORD LABELS WHICH THE ARTISTS ARE SIGNED TO WHO SHOULD BE LEFT WITH THE DECISION OF CLAIMING PIRACY/BOOTLEGGING.

WHAT I MEAN BY THAT IS THAT IF A LABEL FEELS THEY ARE BEING SCREWED, THEN THEY SHOULD BE THE ONES TO PURSUE A JUDGEMENT, NOT THE RIAA. BASICALLY, IF THE LABEL IS WILLING TO LOOK THE OTHER WAY, THEN THE RIAA SHOULD NOT BE INVOLVED AS THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AN IMPLIED LICENSING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE ARTIST, DJ, AND LABEL.

didn't get to read US law and legislation articles
first, mebbe according to the law what's not copyrighetd is automatically a bootleg, but according to common sense it's not always so
second, if there're no written and signed permissions from lables to use they artsists music issued to Drama ana Cannon ( and there most likely r not cause of verious reasons ) then they in a fucked up situation if them lables not gonna back them up

either way what is ultimately looks fucked up is LAW, which while supposed to be universal obviously wasn't considering such phenomenon as mixtapes in the process of legislation

hope they beat the case and that will result in law upgrade

otherwise we should rally

maybe i'm crazy but this soundss like some bullshit. If i understand correctly, anyone who records some music, which is their own, and then puts it out for sale, can be arrested, if it is not licensed or copywritten, wowwwwwwww, this is a helluva country we live in. It truly is about the money and the control

The most obvious thing about this situation is what the one point the world is missing. The man aint getting his cut of the pie, therefore the pie most be illegal. I mean, if you look at the statement the RIAA dude made comparing the profits being made from the mixtape game to that of the coke game, that pretty much spells it out right there. Because there is no way they can say that a drama cd is causing overdoses, or destroying the family structure.. They can't say it's raping the artist of royalties, because the majority of the drama cd's are artist and label approved. It's just like I say, they won't legalize weed because they have no way to regulate it. All about the Benjamins, baby!! C.R.E.A.M., Get The Money, Dollar, dollar Bills, Ya'll!!!!! Peace!!!!

yeah u gotta stay 100% accountable in the eyes of the "man" sure they may have permission, but it is what it is. you dont spend all dat time registering for ASCAP, Trademarking ya name and/or Brand, filling out copyrights and etc. for nothing.

i know some of these dudes may have neva done dat shit because they got dudes they pay to handle all of those difficult tasks (yeah fuckin right) but really if you aint willing to play by the rules, u gonna get benched. as Biggie said "Mo $$$$, Mo Problems" da shit just wasnt catchphrase or some corny cliche` he meant dat shit.

A licensing agreement between DJ Drama & Don Cannon and ASCAP, BMI or any other music licensing organization could easily be done if the labels really wanted to be fair and give Drama credit for all of the work he has put in for the labels. . .but do they really want to give him a fair shake? I doubt it. Drama & Cannon just have to pay to play on their field, with their referees and by their rules. Why do you think iTunes and Best Buy and other retail outlets continue to profit from this "unlicensed" material without any interference? They are paying.

The RIAA, ASCAP, BMI and the Majors own the Game and the Game most definitely is NOT fair.
