What’s up Family?
You know what time it is. We got another video from one of Atlanta’s most popular rappers, TI. Lil dude is like the new Puffy. Do you remember how Puffy Combs was dropping hits like every month at the height of his career? That’s how I’m looking at TI. Though he had a slow start with his first two albums (compared to his current national success), he is living proof to all of us to keep striving.
Here is his new video:
TI - "Top Back" (Remix). The video is hot and the Grand Hustle crew embraces the southern culture with the big cars, thick women, and our signature playeristic style.

Yesterday’s responses were overwhelming!!! Though there were a lot of comments I managed to sift through them, and even post some of my own in the process. Nevertheless, I saw one post that made me laugh. If you don’t know anything else about Sohh.com you should at least know that we don’t bash other urban/hip-hop sites. If anything we give credit where credit is due. What I'm starting to see a lot more of are a few haters who come from other sites and try to bash us on our message boards and comment sections on our various blogs. Listen, if you don’t like us then don’t log on, it's really as simple as that. But I know the majoroity of y’all like what we doing over here at Sohh.com so in the words of the Fugee’s â€" “Take It Easy.â€
With that said, I got to give the most hate award to a kat by the name of I Love Hip-Hop. Without haters like you, we wouldn’t know how much the streets are talking about us. The hating niccas are just down right furious that we aint showing no signs of stopping.
All HipHop Rules Sohh is wack. This site is a bunch of dumb motherfuckers with opinions that don't make sense. There are no real journalist on this site. It reminds me of the Source With Benzino.
Sohh.com only puts the most talented, thoroughly experienced published writers on this site. There aren’t any rookies on our team, which is more than most other sites can say. And if your'e going to compare us to Benzino and Dave Mays from The Source â€" That’s a compliment. They had the most influential magazine in hip-hop history. But if you did your research and studied the history of Sohh.com, which a good journalist always does, then you’d see that we got one of the tighest most hardworking writers in the game.
I know this is a hip-hop site, with the exception of Sohh Soulful, but you can never get enough of the queen of Pop and R&B (at the moment), Beyoncé Knowles right? Beyoncé was in the city this past weekend at dance studio, Dance 101, looking for the hottest back-up dancers. She, along with choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. auditioned over a thousand dancers competing for a spot on Beyonce's upcoming 2007 world tour. I heard about it but couldn’t bring myself to stand outside in this Atlanta weather. Luckily for me I have friends who work hard to do some of my grimy work for me. If you’re a B fan then you should enjoy. There are no Beyonce sightings in the clips. It just gives you a little insight on the pandemonium she can cause whenever she’s in town.
Big shout out to my boi Darian for braving the winter weather to bring this to the masses.

Almost every major album leaks at least two weeks before they are released. You should think of it as a trial period.
Also, I'm surprised to see that this site has professional, published journalists. I have come on here and seen some nice blogs, but most of the time its just underhanded jabs at the South and G Unit. Gyant is by far my favorite blogger. No bias, just southern flavor. I'm from the FLA so I appreciate it, but tell your co-workers to STEP IT UP!

All that you say about the published writer bit...then why the writers don't use that "creative ability" to shed light on things that may be outside of the current state of hip hop, but directly affected by hip hop's influence. Luda nice don't get me wrong, but aside from punchlines and records what stands out about him, and if I remember Scarface was one of the dudes that helped break Luda in tha game so if it wasn't for Face you probably would've never heard Ludacris, I think he nice but i can't take him serious he reminds me of a down south version of Busta Rhymes.

Dro is one of the best rappers out period. Even though some may feel all he talks about is colorful cars and shit. He just created his own lane and can't nobody do that shit like dude. I like the video. I was matching clothes and cars back in HS, so that is old to me, not to say I was ballin, I just had alot since I work on them. I like Dro, but I do get tired of hearing him rap about colors. It would be nice to see him expand, cause I know he is talented. I hope B.G. gets his shine in 07. I never really messed with him until he left Cash Money !!!

I’m not even going dissect the statement; “if you did your research and studied the history of SOHH.com, which a good journalists always does, then you’d see that we got one of the tightest most hardworking writers in the game.â€
I’ll just say, “Only one playboy?â€
And then; “if you’re going to compare us to Benzino and Dave Mays from The Source – That’s a compliment. They had the most influential magazine in hip-hop history.â€
“Had†is the operative word here ladies and gentleman.
But I’m not about to engage in verbal sparring like what’s become of this whole “Hip Hop is Dead†conversation. Instead I’ll try and keep this somewhat academic.
Journalism 101
Class for ten bonus points, can anyone tell me what journalists do? Right Jimmy – they journal! That means somewhere, an informed writer abreast of what’s going on, reports on a particular piece of news as it unfolds. He does NOT add flavor, inject opinion, or stretch the truth. He just reports.
I occasionally drop into SOHH, and some of the stuff these cats post is pure fecal matter. I mean text so absurd, that if it were written on paper, I wouldn’t bother to wipe my ass with said paper because some “experienced published writer†at SOHH has already beat me to the punch.
Super easy example.
Hop to the front of SOHH right now and read the headline, “Lil’ Wayne kisses and tells.â€
Journalists don’t take aim, they report. Leave the cheap shots for Gillie and Buck because Lord knows they’ll need ‘em (I’m not feeling very journalistic right now).
But I digress, in order to get to the real point.
While many of us are wondering about the direction of Hip Hop, we should be worried about the folks that bring us Hip Hop.
On several occasions, I’ve read/heard where SOHH interviewers ask some artist, “What do you think about the south?â€
Like the South is a single entity, a phalanx of rappers moving in one uniform motion with the sole purpose of ruining Hip Hop.
As a pen pusher, I understand the need for juicy tidbits in order to fill pages and keep readers reading, but when you consistently flood the web with foolishness in order to facilitate drama, so you can in turn “write†about the drama, hoping that the number of hits at your site doubles, which if all goes as planned, meaning an increase in advertising revenue.
(Damn, that’s almost a parallel to Iraq).
If this is about Hip Hop – and if you call yourselves journalists – then treat both art forms with respect.
Stop looking for ways to divide artists and regions against one another (SOHHnyc vs. SOHHatl).
(Hip Hop is global)
Stop posting silly headlines like, “New York is back, forget what you heard.â€
(The decline of music is not about a regional sound, it’s about musicality period)
Stop being pawns to the suits.
(And be public servants to the Hip Hop community)
And after, ONLY after, you do the above, maybe you can start thinking of Hip Hop as a culture, and the last time I checked, there’s room for culture anywhere there’s people that are willing to understand and embrace it, whether they live in the South, West, or Far-fucking-East.
If this post makes me a “hata,†at least refer to me as the hata that knows what journalism and Hip Hop are all about.
