Core DJ's Annual Retreat, Outkast Offers A Peek Into The Album

There's another big weekend being planned in the city, as The Core DJ's present their annual Core DJ's Retreeat V Awards. It promises to be a huge weekend with numerous artists being presented with awards over the weekend.

Some of the award recipients include DJ Red Alert, Rahiem The Dream, Jermaine Dupri, MC Shy D, DJ Smurf, Lil Jon, DJ Drama, Greg Street, Funkmaster Flex, Big Tigger, Ludacris, DJ Toomp and Kid Capri to name a few. They have several events planned so it should be a busy weekend.

Also, get ready for Big Boi's Riding Dirty Celebrity Car & Bike Show at the Convention Center. It's hailed as "The Official Car Show of the South" so be in the building for that on August 26th. It's common knowledge that nobody flosses a ride like we do in the south so this is a must-attend event. Let me check that, though I love the south but I have to say that they do it BIGGER on the car tip out west. I'm just saying...

The car show follows the release of Idlewild the movie and the album during that same week.

Dre and Big Boi have allowed for the public to listen to their album on their myspace page. I've heard people complain about the inability to skip through the album but real heads aren't even trying to skip through a 'Kast CD on first listen anyway. You might miss something. Nevertheless, pay attention to the entire album, especially "Hollywood Divorce" featuring Weezy and Snoop.

Outkast will also be holding a private listening party for the Idlewild album tonight.

Nigga I heard that KAST this morning, and Im already gonna go out on a limb and declare this another Outkast classic album. Right up there with SouthernPlayalistic, ATLiens, and Stankonia. This is by far they best album since Stankonia. NIGGA THIS ATL DONT STOP HATERS.

The tracks I've heard so far off the Idlewild joint are hot, morris brown, rats and roaches, and hollywood divorce are all pretty nice, although i might have to say that wayne and snoop are kinda overshadowed by Kast's style and skill....just sayin

also, are they gonna release it on double disk? because i kno they're doing a soundtrack for the movie, are the album and soundtrack the same thing? or are they gonna have the soundtrack, and the album sold as one?

That new Outkast is of the mufukin meat rack!!

That whole CD is tight, even the tripped-out-musical Andre tracks. They all fit into the storyline. Now I want to see that movie even more - i think its gonna be a lot more biographical than i thought.

The album is OK, they might go double plat but them days of 10 mil sold are going going gone. Outkast does make quality music, can't really front on that but this ain't a classic and probably their second to worse release to date, AGAIN I'm not sh*tting becuase the bar is really high but you really could wait for this one at your local bootlegger. AND the only person down south that made the top 10 money list was JD at 60 MIL, so hold tight on all that we running sh*t,,,cuz Cash rules everything around and until somebody down there start making that Diddy, Jigga, Fifty money, yall ain't running sh*t!!!!!1

Idlewild really is rough…

I keep listening through the whole album, just hoping that there might be more than 5 decent songs this time around, but there never is.

There are more straight horrific songs on the disk than mediocre ones. 17, then 19-25 are simply unlistenable. And that’s not counting the bad tracks before 16.

Oh well. Perhaps 3K will wake up one morning and realize producing and not-rapping just isn’t for him.

Yes its a single disc. Idlewild is a Outkast ablum and the soundtrack for the movie. they have one more album to release and their contract will be up.
but ildewild blues and morris brown are the ish.

have been listening to it overand over again since monday…. and the shit is pretty bad. the sad part is that all of us are sitting around crying about it. i think that after hollywoood divorce the motherfucker is unlistenable. i challenge all the defenders of outkast’s honor to keep defending the album in ONE week.

Yeah Just finished peeping the album out. And Im at a lost for words. I keep saying to myself.."its supposed to be a 1930's theme" but it doesnt help. Its really bad ya'll. And I've been with Kast since day one. Maybe once I see the movie the songs will have more meaning, but I doubt it. Its just bad.

But not to fear, Outkast still has one more album to go under contract. Hopefully they will go out with a bang. Because we need that '93-'96 Outkast back to save Hip-Hop!

Same goes for the Pharrell album. He's no real rhymer or singer, but the music top notch production wise and when I say production I'm not talking about beats..

I'm a writer for HHDX.com as well as some other hip hop outlets, and I need some help. I'm going down to ATL this weekend (Aug. 26, 27, 28), and I wanted to know if any of you knew of any special events going down that I might attend. Anything hip hop related is AG; open mics, parties, etc. Just let me know the best you can when and where it is (I'm from Chi-Town, folks).

Also if you know of any restaurants or clubs that deserve a good write-up, let me know so I can check 'em out and give them some good press.
