Don't look now but the first lady of Disturbing The Peace has bounced back strong with her latest single "Gettin' Some Head" off of the DTP compilation album. It's gaining steady rotation in the city so national attention could be next for her.

"You're all beautiful women if you're insecure" --Juvenile "Rodeo"

I'm loving the new Juvenile video "Rodeo", filmed in one of my favorite spots The Blue Flame scripp club, off Bankhead I might add. Surprisingly BET and 106th & Park is lovin it too as last I checked it was the #5 video which says alot considering how biased they are against the dirty as a whole.

This week Juvenile threw a party in remembrance of Soulja Slim here in the city and it brought me to several thoughts...
There have been numerous Soulja Slim aftershocks, with murders and arrests in particular and you have to wonder if Busta's case and other situations are headed down the same avenue as the Mac Dre, Pac and Soulja Slim murders. Meaning there is no end in sight because Nobody Seen A Thing.

By now you've probably either heard Atlanta-bred Young Joc on the radio or pumpin in the club's here in Atlanta. His ATL anthem "It's Going Down" is killin the streets here. He's doing his thing.

One film that you need to check out incase you haven't yet is "Independent Doin MAJOR Things" by Atlanta director Hotep Williams.
The documentary dives deep into the Atlanta cultural and entreprenurial hip hop movement with the motto "New York and Los Angeles Had Their Turn. Now Welcome To Atlanta" which coincidentally seems to be one of the major topics of convo on this site.

For all the Common fans in the A, you can catch him at The Tabernacle tonight. Common gives a serious performance incase you haven't caught him in concert before. Tickets are $30 and hopefully he'll bring a surprise or two onstage with him tonight.

So far, mixed reviews of Dem Franchise Boyz' new CD-On Top Of Our Game. Some say it's top-notch, some say its garbage, and some have simply given it a mediocre review.
However, somebody must like it for it to be shooting up Billboard like it has and...as my pops always told me opinions are like a**holes' everybody's got one, so I might as well offer my opinion too.

Despite the national success of his first two singles "Wobble and Shake It" and "Let's Cheat", Tango Redd remains somewhat an unknown. At only 19 years of age, the self-proclaimed Golden Child of Atlanta is riding the success of his first two singles and has now steadied himself for the release of his debut album The Campaign, tentatively scheduled to be released in April.
I spoke with Tango recently about his initial record label dispute, his early success and his debut album. He talks about working with several artists and producers like Three-6 Mafia, David Banner, Homeboy, and Lloyd who combine to give the album a unique flavor that has branded Tango as a future hitmaker of Atlanta hip hop.
Once again my dude Ghostface (or is it still Ghostface Killah?) is paying a boatload of attention to the south. This time he isn't so quick to dish out props to the dirty. Check him out as he clowns D4L on stage during one of his shows:

And just when I started giving out major props to us as a city for the lack of violence in our hip hop community, Slick Pulla goes downtown for pizza and exits with bullet wounds. How sad a society we have become, right?
The Atlanta Hip Hop Film Festival will be honoring Jack"THE RAPPER"Gibson, former Atlanta radio legend by renaming its Hip Hop Pioneer Award to "The Jack The Rapper" Award.
Gibson was instrumental in the careers of several musical icons by allowing unsigned talent a voice to be heard with his hosting of the historical Jack the Rapper Conventions in Atlanta.

The hottest thing on the streets right now are DJ. Drama's latest drops, Young Jeezy's 27-track exclusive Can't Ban The Snowman and Young Buck's Case Dismissed.

Continuing on with the New Orleans migration into the ATL is Young City, aka Choppa from Making the Band fame as he has been doing a bunch of work with several artists in the city. It's no big thing since NO artists have always been fam in the A, although some things almost came into question in the late 90's after Master P came to the hood and stole "Hootie Hoo" from 'Kast. But that's neither here nor there.

I found an interesting quote from a recent interview with one of the greats of the game, Ghostface, regarding beef and the current state of hip hop as it stands right now. It's of immediate relevance since nearly every hip hop blog or conversation seem to turn into a regional war of words via the mouse and keyboard, especially on SOHH Atlanta.
Ghostface's comments were indeed thought provoking. So hear my man out on this excerpt taken from a recent interview from Soundslam.com where you can view the entire interview.

Andre 3000 is back at it again. This time as you might have heard he's dipping into the cartoon arena. He'll be executive producing an animated series for Cartoon Network later this year. Dre will be using his voice in the cartoon, in a character yet to be determined along with T-Boz from TLC.

The rumors are true about my man Don P. of Trillville being arrested on rape charges. I'm sure you've already caught wind of it by now.

If you haven't had a chance to hear E-40's new single "Tell Me When To Go" from his soon to be released My Ghetto Report Card album you are missing out.

With the severely overrated and boring Grammy Awards rapidly approaching, we find that we do have a small ATL representation in the hizzouse so let's check it out and see what kind of chances we have at bringing an award back to the 404.

Yo what's up with Three-6 Mafia? For nearly a decade they have been basically squaky clean, now they finally get the shine that they've been deprived of for so long and then bullets and drama begin to swirl around them from all angles. We got love but damn let's hope they keep that drama somewhere off Beale Street and far far from Glenwood or Cascade.

T.I. was able to touch down in Houston without all the drama and fistticuffs this time as he shot a video for "Front-Back" feat. Bun. B, under the production of famed Texas director, Dr. Teeth this past Sunday in Houston, TX.
