Producer Rockwilder Advises Producers to Put In Overtime Behind the Boards

Grammy Award-winning Queens producer Rockwilder has crafted hits for Redman, Method Man, Jay-Z, Janet Jackson, Erykah Badu, Busta Rhymes and Destiny's Child. In this week's 24 Hour Grind he gives his advice for aspiring producers while giving us a look at some of his favorite career moments.
It Takes Hard Work To Get To the Top & Stay There
Don't say there is never enough time. There is never enough work. Try to put 25 hours a day into work if you can. A lot of people don’t understand, you're not the only producer out there. There are billions of other producers trying to get what you get, so if you put enough work in at least that will bring you closer to where you need to be. It’s like being on top of the mountain, if you take a ten minute rest to climb the mountain, there's gonna be someone who doesn't take that break and somebody else is going to pass you. You gotta keep working. It’s nonstop work, being a producer and being successful, you have to keep going.
Greatest Moments In Rockwilder History:
Getting on some equipment worth making music on. I was struggling to get equipment because it was so expensive. My friends, my boy Sage bought a MPC and Casper bought an MPC and they used to let me use it. I got my weight up by using other people’s equipment so my second greatest moment was getting my MPC 60.
