After four years as Executive Editor of KING Magazine, St. Lucia-born, Queens-bred journalist Jermaine Hall has taken the reins as Editor-in-Chief of the Men's magazine Hugh Hefner dubbed "the Black Playboy". In this week's 24 Hour Grind Jermaine weighs in with his favorite KING moments, what direction the magazine is going in and things every EIC should know to turn out an eyecatching publication.

Commit to Your Craft
Make a commitment to the industry. Just because you run a “urban magazine” doesn't mean you can just study those books. You should still be reading magazines like GQ, Vanity Fair, The New Yorkerand New York Magazine and enjoying it. Those are where I get some of my best ideas because they have nothing to do with the world that I’m in, so it helps me come up with out of the box stuff.

Jermaine's KING Hall of Fame:My favorite issue is the Tyra issue, not because Tyra was on the cover, but because of the content. There was a top 30 Hustler's list in that issue, the Kobe Bryant piece was in that issue. It's definitely my favorite issue because it was so diverse.

  • Who cares? Big deal? Amazing... I found brintey spears had a personal account on MeetRich. com. It is a site for celebrities
and millionaires to mingle. It's said Charlie Sheen has found his love there last May.
