During her supermodel days, Veronica Webb landed the covers of Italian Vogue, Elle and Essence magazines, and she made history as the first African-American woman to land a major cosmetics contract when she signed with Revlon.

Persistence is Key to Success

"It's also influence peddling, a lot of it is politics. Like all of life, it depends on who says what to whom and how much you trust the person who's giving suggestions. Sheer persistence counts too. When I went to the castings for the Versace show 10 or so years ago, one of the assistants, Angelo, physically threw me out. He told me I was so ugly and he couldn't believe I would show up at Mr. Versace's casting. I kept going back until I got the show. It took me about four years. You have to work to the point where you're undeniable, where you have enough pictures, look the part and just can't be told 'no'" Veronica Webb on being successful as a model.

Today Webb is a co-host of “Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style” on Bravo, a contributor to Interview and Paper magazines, a fashion essayist, a screenplay writer, a film and television actress, a philanthropist and a mother.

  • Lol@super model...please use that term entirely too loosely these days..if you started modeling after 96 then you can't be a super model..that was a rare breed..these are working girls at their bests...super models get recognized without their names being mentioned just by a picture being shown and I can show this picture to a hundred ppl and they wouldn't be able to tell me who she is off the top of their minds.

Thats the truth!!!! Just cuz you on a couple of magazines or you land big contracts doesn't give you the supermodel title
