As a choreographer, any time you're working with an artist it's extremely important that you understand what their music is about, what they’re trying to portray and how they move.

Tanisha worked with Beyonce for her "Baby Boy" and "Check Up On It" videos.

Understand the Artist in their Totality
With any artist, the first thing they’re trying to sell is their music. Regardless of if they write it or not, it’s an image they’re selling, so you have to make that fit. Like with Alicia all her music is not dance music, like say Chris Brown, so the movement I give her dancers is based around how she would move. It has to be a reflection of her. I would never do a routine, like what Chris Brown would have behind him, for Alicia Keys. That doesn’t make sense. It just wouldn’t read. Everyone is a reflection of her so they have to fit. When I work with Eve it’s the same thing

Toronto-born choreographer Tanisha Scott is currently working with Eve and Alicia Keys.
