Angela Bassett's I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T Act

Tyler Perry's newest film Meet The Browns hits theaters this week, March 21st. The film stars Angela Bassett as a down on her luck single mother in Chicago who becomes rich in family after traveling south to attend the funeral for the father she never met.

Angela has brought her unforgettable presence to films like Boyz-N-the Hood, What's Love Got to Do With It?, Malcolm X and Waiting to Exhale. In a 1998 interview
Bassett revealed that her success is partly due to her mother reaching her never to be dependent on other people to her her attain her desired goals.


Self-Reliance is Key to Success
"She [Bassett's mother] said, `Get it for yourself. You get your own. You get your own so you don't have to rely on anyone else," Bassett told the Richmond Times-Dispatch
