Less is more in the fashion industry. Try not to follow the mold, mix it up a little bit. Just because one person did it one way doesn't mean that's how you have to do it.

Early on in my career I'd design a collection and try to put like 20 pieces out, which is a lot when you're doing it yourself. I'd do it, but the stuff would kind of sit because it's higher end and custom. Then I thought, 'Wait a minute, let me switch it up. Maybe if I do a collection and only do a few pieces of each, just one or two, then people will buy more quickly.' So I did it and it worked. I started to make a little more money that way.

The boutique business is weird, if people see multiples they are slower to buy, but if they only see one and know it's a limited supply it tends to sell better.
